We are devastated that this restaurant has closed is was the only nice place in Kyle in which we felt we could take our out of state friends. The food was excellent, it was a quiet place in which one could hold a conversation without getting loud music and children crying. So very sad that this place has closed. The bar they replaced it with has good food but they allow smokers and have loud music, so it’s a no go.

The ambiance of this restaurant will take you out of Kyle, and into another place — it’s amazing. On the wall is a photo of the chef, with Emeril Lagassie, which was very impressive: I know Emeril Lagassie knows his cajun! I felt the restaurant itself could use a bit more attention, particularly to the dust on the ledges of the finely stained wood. Escargot was my appetizer, and was my first experience with it! The bread which came topped on the place was warm, soft and absolutely delicious rubbed with butter and herbs. The olive oil was fantastic, but I did feel the garlic was overpowering — I couldn’t taste the escargot itself through the garlic. The bread on the table, though, was disappointing in comparison. A little tough and under-seasoned. We also ordered soft shell crab, and potato bacon soup, which was the BEST I’ve EVER had! Finally, as an entrée, we had the fried scallops in a butternut cream sauce, and crispy roasted duck. The duck bled out with a «pop» two minutes after being placed on our table, which was really gross to me, but didn’t bother my fiancé. I thought the duck was undercooked, had slimy skin, and was oddly chewy and a LOT too sweet. But, the scallops were great, along with again, the BEST mashed potatoes I’ve ever had. Hidden on the bottom of the potatoes were more seasonings, which was a pleasant and tasty surprise! I am definitely looking to coming back for more!

Food defiantly did not match the price. It was super expensive with ‘ok’ cuisine. Lets just say they have ‘fine dining’ prices and not the quality I was expecting. The service was very good. I was impressed with the wait staff. But the constant ringing of the phone was annoying. No one was by the phone close to the front door. And it was a Saturday night and the restaurant was quiet. Maybe 4 other tables. So if you like quiet and phone ringing then this will work. But I like busier restaurants because usually that means their food is better.

I’ve been here twice. Both times the food was good, but I never felt it was worth the prices. My meal alone was about $ 45 after it was all said and done. Yes, it’s a diamond in the rough, but you can find better diamonds not too far away in Austin. My ultimate advice is: give it a shot if you’re in Kyle and don’t want to go to Austin or elsewhere. But just know you’re going to pay quite a lot for a meal that is good but not great.

Awesome, high-quality food and service. This good food/service comes with a price, but it’s worth the cost. We’re long-time customers and the experience is always top-notch. Last night my wife had the scallops, and they were cooked perfectly. The same goes for my bone-in ribeye, and we shared a nice bottle of wine. We finished with fresh coffee and awesome carrot cake. All in a quiet, adult atmosphere.

Bordeaux’s is the fanciest place in town. Doesn’t seem to fit into Kyle to well. I have eaten hear twice and the food is very good. The steaks are excellent. The two times I’ve been here it wasn’t very busy, but don’t let that fool you. If you want a special night out with your special someone I would go here for dinner. You don’t have to dress up, but most people were dressed as business casual. You can’t go wrong with the food here and I would go back the next time I’m in town.

I can’t say enough great things about this place. They made a special night even better with great service, great food and an awesome location. The minute that you step into the restaurant you feel welcomed like an old friend there to experience a meal, and boy do you. While the prices are marked as $$$ I believe their prices are no higher than several of the casual dining places that I go to. I couldn’t find one part of the meal that didn’t measure up to a 5 star rating. I will be back many times in the future. This place sets the standards that other restaurants in Austin and Houston should aspire to match.

This is among my favorite places to eat in Central Texas. Every single dish and side that I have sampled has seriously impressed me and I really have come to think of Bordeaux’s as one of the real«hidden gem» culinary discoveries of the Central Texas Area as well as one of Kyle’s best kept secrets.

You know that movie, Project X? Ok, so you know the scene where the kids go all crazy anarchy in the street? Well that is how your mouth will feel after taking a bite of anything they offer. I do not need to go on and on about every savory element in our escargot, mussels, steaks, desserts, and good god amazing sides my husband and I ordered. Forget about Truluck’s, Sullivan’s, and most importantly, wipe Ruth’s Chris out of your minds and mouths. This place has it going on for at least 10 $ less than those other yahoos. Oh, and now if you live in north Austin, you don’t have to shlup it all way down to Kyle, what’s up Dripping Springs!?! The ONLY, and I mean one and ONLY thing they could do better is offer local, seriously local beer. I know, i know… nice steak house I should drink wine, or martinis… but if they had some Real Ale… My behind would be at the bar every night, doing it on the cheap with apps and good olé TEXAS beer! While i’m here, the idiot below, yeah that one, with the Lisa Simpson whiney face profile pic? Yeah, they are beyond stupid. How in the world do you translate«Bordeaux’s» as, not only an «Italian» restaurant, but to the point of the issue, a flipping«italian» word? AREYOUKIDDINGME! You are so dumb, and every review you have ever written should be invalid based on your obvious lack of education. Fine dinning is not for you wannabe Lisa. Stick with McDonalds. Stupid. Dumbest person on the interwebs. (P.S. checked out«Lisa’s» page, she primarily eats out at fast food joints((as expected)), recommends Chili’s, and loves the La Quinta. So, if you do the same, please eat up her advice. Because we all know, the«La Quinta» is just a motel six without hobos in the parking lot.)

So happy to have a QUALITY steak/seafood restaurant! We have eaten at Bordeaux’s more than 2-dozen times since it opened and we have not been disappointed. We more often than not call our order in and pick it up. The steaks melt like butter and are seasoned just right. The chef is amazingly consistent in his preparation, originality, and taste profiles. The butternut squash soup is MY favorite starter. Next stop? Bordeaux’s Happy Hour.

When we arrived at Bordeaux’s, I noticed how very unassuming the exterior is. I know that I never would have guessed that beyond the front door was a truly beautiful, rustic yet refined, romantic and warm interior. We were promptly seated in the dining area, and we were left to settle in and take it all in while going over the wine and food menus. Sitting at the table covered in a white tablecloth, I felt warm and welcome and very happy that we decided to stay local. Enough about the décor, on with the food! After our server, Kyle, brought us our wine and gave us the run down on the evening’s specials, my parents and I had made our decisions. There are so many amazing sounding dishes on the menu, and off the menu. It was hard to decide what to get. But I think that my parents and I all made the right decisions, from wine to appetizer to main course to dessert. EVERYTHING was amazing. For starters, we ordered Stuffed Jumbo Mushrooms«Saltimbocca»,(Stuffed with sautéed fresh spinach, Prosciutto, Pancetta, Parmesan, Fontina and Asiago cheeses), and Pan Steamed Chilean Blue Mussels,(in white wine, red chili & fennel broth. — I skipped the fennel… Served with grilled French bread.) SOGOOD. The broth of the Mussels was drinkable. Just throw it in a thermos and give me a straw. No kidding. Yes. That good. It was buttery and salty and savory and had a kick from the red chili. It was warm and it was perfect. Yes. Perfect. The mussels themselves were pleasantly plump and juicy, bursting with intoxicating flavor. The mushrooms were also amazing. The mushrooms themselves were actually pretty large and the filling was just so cheesy, salty, savory and mouth watering. I could have made that and the mussel juice my meal. A very… interesting meal… but a meal nonetheless. I can see it now… For the main course, my mom and dad both ordered the Salmon Béarnaise,(8 oz boneless filet topped with sautéed blue crab & their signature jalapeño béarnaise sauce.) This was a really pretty dish and they both thought it was some of the best salmon that they’d had. It was perfectly cooked and I know both of my parents really enjoyed the fact that there was a lot of crab ON the salmon, as well as in the béarnaise sauce. My mom thought the texture of the salmon was just perfectly light and flakey and so very succulent. The sauce was a perfect compliment to it, so buttery and flavorful. «it was just perfect». Perfect… A running theme with this post, huh? What I ordered was truly an indulgence, but I decided that since it was MY birthday dinner, I was going to be a glutton. I chose The Niman Ranch Blue Cheese«Bavette», a Prime 8oz Bavette, recognized as the second most tender cut of beef(requested at medium-rare, and no, I don’t know wha thte first most tender cut of beef is… hmm?)…dusted with black truffle salt and topped with grilled jumbo shrimp & blue cheese crumbles and is paired with a delicious port wine-cognac demi glacé. Um… I have no words. I guess I HAVE to have words, since I’m a writer and this is what I do… How could I ever capture what this steak was like? First, the two grilled jumbo shrimp were placed delicately on the steak, which was situated in a pool of demi glacé. The whole plate looked like it’d been showered with blue cheese… oh how I love blue cheese… the presentation was truly beautiful. I wish I could show you all what it really looked like, but the mood lighting does impair my picture-taking. I abhor flashes when I’m taking food photos — it just makes everything look like crap. Excuse the blunt comment, but yeah, like crap! So just please take my word for it, the plate was gorgeous. The steak was perfectly cooked, melted in my mouth, and was full of flavor from the salty black truffle, to the pungent cheese. It was a dish that I will remember and hope to have again. Something I want to take some time to mention, is that there’s something just so neat about a place where the chef comes out to talk to his diners. Chef Larsen Wilkes talked to us about the food, his background and he was passionate, kind and honest. I really appreciated that he took the time to make this meal personal. ANYWAY! Once all three of us cleaned our plates, our server returned and let me know that due to it being my birthday, I was entitled to a free fried ice cream. WOOWOO! I never have had fried ice cream before… But since it was free… it was a perfect chance to try something new. And I must say, it was really yummy and an excellent end to a wonderful birthday meal. So at the end of the day, I recommend this local-to-me fine dining restaurant for your next celebration, anniversary, or date night.

This is a great date night spot. As others have said, the mussels are very, very good. You also can’t go wrong with any of the steaks, and the risotto is great, too. When I think«Hmm.I could make this at home,» I feel like I’ve ordered the wrong thing… and I feel that way about the pasta. Nothing fancy there. I do appreciate the homemade salad dressings, though, and the wine list is very good. We chose a nice Washington wine – something different from our usual Chilean, Australian selections. It was quite good. The service has always been great here; although I feel like they could be more hospitable at the hostess stand. There’s usually no one there upon entering or exiting, which feels a bit cold. Other than that, no complaints on service. Kyle definitely needs more dining options along these lines.

When we moved to Kyle, we weren’t really sure what we’d find in terms of local(non-chain) restaurants. We’ve been pleasantly surprised, and one of the best gems, tucked away in downtown Kyle, is Bordeaux’s. Whether you’re going for happy hour, dinner, or brunch, Bordeaux’s won’t disappoint. Their wine selection is great, and reasonably priced. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve ordered off of their menu — but by FAR my favorite thing is the mussels. I could eat that every day for the rest of my life and be happy. My husband and I literally drink the remaining broth with spoons(or if we’re feeling particularly gluttonous, we ask for more bread to soak it up)! It’s not cheap — but it’s worth it, especially for special occasions.

We met friends at Bordeaux’s last night; a third or fourth time there for us. We really enjoy the atmosphere and the food is very good. There are advertised discounts on their website which was not the reason we went, but, hey, if they’re offered, why not take advantage of them? Our server was not familiar with them so, supposedly, verified a few of them before we ordered. Then when the check came, there were a few discrepancies between we had been told(and what is published on the web). We placed all orders before the 6:30pm cut off time, by the way. We got most of the errors cleared up but it’s embarrassing to have to squabble over such things, especially when trying to enjoy a pleasant evening with friends. The other thing that was disappointing, was once we had paid our tab, we continued to visit at our table for 30 – 45 minutes.(The place was empty except for one other table, so it’s not like we were keeping others from being seated). Our waitress was hanging out in the bar with the rest of the wait/kitchen staff and never came back to see if we wanted more water, coffee or anything. TIP: Don’t pay your tab til you’re ready to leave! We will definitely go back for the food and atmosphere. Just a few good lessons learned and wanted to pass them on.

I decided to take my husband to Bordeaux for his birthday since it seemed like a nice, small, restaurant. We started with a few cocktails which were very tasty. Then, we ordered the scargot and freshly made mousse which had black truffles in it! The scargot was really good although it was a little too buttery for me. It had garlic, herbs, and butter. The mousse was nice and creamy. For entrees, my husband got the tenderloin and I got the twin lobsters. For sides, we decided on shrimp scampi and risotto. The tenderloin was cooked to perfection; very tender and juicy. Also, it was seasoned very delicately so you could really taste the tenderloin natural flavor. The twin lobsters were succulent! They were cooked with white wine and herbs. Nice, tender, and very satisfaying. The shrimp scampi was good. The shrimp were huge and tasty… My husband’s favorite. The risotto… my favorite. It was cooked perfectly with a mixture of cheeses. Hmmm, so creamy! Very comforting. For dessert we got a complimentary crème brûlée for the occasion. My husband and I loved it. Very creamy, the sugar top was perfectly browned, and it came with mixed berries which were fresh and sweet. It was very light and flavorful. The waiters were very friendly and the chef came to our table to congratulate my husband. The chef was really nice and loved talking to my husband about food in general. Great romantic place, awesome food, and nice service.

It’s a fancy restaurant in a small town where most of the other restaurants are either a shack or drive-through. In comparison, it shines above the others, which explains why the ratings are so high. If this were in Austin, it would be 3 stars, tops. It’s pretentious without having any right to be that proud of itself. We could have driven 15 minutes for truly excellent food at lower prices somewhere in Austin. The waitress was nice and attentive, but not able to answer basic questions about the menu or the bar offerings without going off to find out the answer. The food is ok, but nothing special. It’s trying to be, but it falls short of being interesting, let alone excellent. The menu is overly ambitious. No balance, buzzword dishes, variations on classics that are anything but an improvement. The offerings and sides aren’t cohesive and frequently not complimentary. But the pricing? It’s the same as if there were special sides and sauces designed to go with the entrée. If the sides were outstanding on their own but not quite matched up to the entrees, it would be understandable. You want to put out great food. But they were poor to mediocre. Tough but not crusty French bread. A caesar salad with flavorless dressing and boxed croutons. Mashed potatoes that were lukewarm, watery-tasting, bland, and had a strange gritty texture I’ve never found in homemade potatoes(even if you put the butter in before the milk, making them less smooth). The entrees were equally blah, but we were hungry. If the sauce on the tuna had been a little sweeter to balance the bitterness, it would have been good. We’ll probably wind up back here at some point since it’s the only nice restaurant in town, but it won’t have been my choice.

Is Rebecca D kidding? You bring two little kids to the only nice restaurant in town and then get offended when they ask you to leave because your kids are disruptive? Seriously people, with little kids — how about thinking of other people every now and then? Can you say«babysitter?» We have eaten here twice and plan to return. The food is very good and it’s a lovely atmosphere. There aren’t a lot of places in the area that are like that so thanks to the owners for what they did. This is a DATE place folks-candlelight, wine expensive food get it? It’s not Chuck E Cheese. I applaud the owners for having the gumption to take action. It rarely happens and many a meal is ruined by crying babies who are too young to go to places like this.

I visited Bordeaux’s last night for the second time and everything ranging from the food, service, and ambiance was spot on. Here is a brief overview of the meal: tender and garlicky escargots, warm French bread, juicy steaks, crisp green beans, decadent carrot cake, and smooth coffee. Sam, our server, was friendly and very attentive but not intruding. Bottom line: Bordeaux’s was just as excellent as the first time. Being consistent is key!
