Safe-N-Sound Self Storage

My daughter and I rented a small storage unit to store her stuff over the summer for a few months. The owner was supper nice an accommodating. He allowed us to pay the whole thing up front so we did not have to make payments. Our experience was worry-​free. The place is new and the units were in excellent condition.

I’ve never written a review before because I’m fairly amenable, but Safe-​N-​Sound storage cost me serious money and aren’t attempting to rectify the situation. My husband and I each have a 10 X10 unit in the climate controlled area. We only needed to store our items for less than a month during a house purchase. When we moved, our BRAND NEW FACTORY SEALED fully incased with plastic lining sofas out and into our new house there were INSECTS hopping out while the movers we’re bringing them in. I had to halt them from being placed inside. I have two toddlers and felt uncomfortable about having insects nesting inside our home. When we inspected the sofas, they’re were cockroaches and lots of crickets both dead and alive. The bugs ate through the plastic and made a nest inside of our new sofas. When I called to notify of Safe-​N-​Sound, I spoke with Vickie who was courteous and apologetic about our situation, but said they’re was nothing that they could do because we initialed off on a paragraph saying they aren’t responsible for property no matter what happens and that I should take the issue to my insurance agent. The issue with that is the huge deductible. She went on to say they have to spray and sweep up crickets frequently because the property is adjacent to a field and as Texans we have to deal with the insects. I understand there’s a certain risk associated with storage units, but we paid extra for the temperature controlled unit and with that there’s a certain expectation of pest management. It is not good business practice to wash their hands of a situation because the customer initialed off on a liability paragraph. As for our other unit, there was no breach in our plastic bins. But a customer can’t tell if their specific unit will be affected before they rent because they «sweep them up everyday.» The overall warehouse is clean since they sweep everyday, but if storing expensive items exposed or not, you run the risk of it being infested, especially since the property backs up into a field.

My sister has been storing here for a while they are very nice and the place is clean.
