The food is so good that on impulse my husband and I will drive 60 miles just to have breakfast at the Calico Cupboard. The first thing we do when we arrive is purchase several muffins and pastries from the bakery to take home. Then we go into the restaurant and enjoy a nice leisurely breakfast. I always order Grandma’s pancakes, a sausage patty, and a breve latte. It’s all good and worth the drive.

Wow! The cinnamon roll French toast here makes desserts look bad in general. If I could have it every morning I would. I’m someone who loves breakfast and I’ll eat breakfast for dinner. This is quite possibly the best breakfast sweet dish I’ve ever had. I’m not in Anacortes very often but I will go out of my way to have this dish… again.

This location, as well as the Anacortes location, are excellent! Good service, good espresso, food is never burnt and wait times are good. You won’t sit and wait for an hour to get your food like at the Mount Vernon location; there’s something wrong with that one. Take the time to drive to La Conner or Anacortes and you’ll have a wonderful meal!

Lovely quaint restaurant serving breakfast all day. Menu is varied and full of interesting items. Had Grandma’s Turkey Pot Pie. Delicious. Desserts were tempting and we did not resist. We ate out back and watched boats coming in and out of the channel.

I have been to this Calico Cupboard numerous times and it’s always pretty good. We stopped into the bakery side and ordered one of their delicious cinnamon rolls and a coffee to go. Aside from getting kind of rudely scolded from one of the wait staff for sitting at the counter, when we asked before hand if it was ok and given the go ahead, it was an alright experience. There really should be an area for patrons to order a pastry and coffee and have a moment to sit down before walking the shops. I understand they’re usually packed but it was 10:00 on a rainy Saturday morning and there was very few patrons.

My boyfriend and I went out for brunch. We got seated on the patio, over looking the water. We were able to see the boats coming in. We were asked very quickly what we wanted to drink. Shortly looking on the table there was a little sign on our table showing there tea assortment. We decided against it but for a tea lover like myself loved there wide selection. Walking through the café it was quite loud and the place was packed. When we were seated they had our salt, pepper, napkins, and silverware in a very cute little bucket. Once we ordered our food the wait for food being delivered to our table was a little bit longer then I cared for but on a nice day it was okay. I think if I was in the noisy café, I would have been very irritated with the wait. We ordered a mushroom burger and the french dip sandwich. My boyfriend says he would get it again. My mushroom burger was very good but VERY messy it fell apart. The chips that came with both orders were SOO good maybe even being fantastic. Once we paid for our meal we walked out to the bakery. We ordered a triple berry crisp, cinnamon roll, and a peanut butter bar. We loved everything but the peanut butter bar. Something that truly spoke to the kindness of one of there weight staff. An elderly lady was seated a table behind my boyfriend and I. There was a slight breeze once a large cloud covered the sun. She asked her waiter if she could move inside because the breeze was to chilly for her. This young man did not even give it second thought. With a smile he helped her grab her things and her drink helping her into the café. This stood out to me and for this reason I will be coming back. I hope that guy gets a raise. I wish I caught his name. If that was my grandmother I would hope someone would treat her with that much respect. Seems so simple but I am sure that lady left with a big smile. It was good to see.

A must if you are going to have breakfast in LaConner. I cannot say enough positive about the quality and flavor of the food. It may be a little expensive for families though.

Went here with a group of 4 on a day trip and wow, we were impressed! Such a cute cozy small town vibe and the baked goods were such a standout. The ladies working were so friendly and the food was well worth the wait(it was quite busy). I very highly recommend the white chocolate blueberry scone and the raspberry cinnamon roll. I can’t wait to have them again!

Everything was fresh and good. I’m giving 4stars because the gravy was lacking and bacon could’ve been a thicker higher quality bacon. Staff was great and attentive. Cinnamon roll delish! As well as the potatoes and Fidaglo Bay coffee.

So very disappointing. I’ve been to the Calico Cupboard four or five times in as many years. Even though there’s always a long line to get in, I insist that we eat there because it’s so good. Plus, I like to take something decadent home from the bakery. :) But, this visit today was NOTWORTHIT. My dad had the«tasteless» clam chowder. My teenager couldn’t finish his hamburger($ 12)because there just wasn’t «any flavor». Plus, the burger came with only a small hand full of potato chips and a small pickle. Wholly unimpressive, really. My other teenager picked at the turkey pot pie($ 13.79) — which I thought was pretty good, but not exceptional. I got the migas($ 12.79) — my favorite dish. I order it anytime there’s migas at a restaurant. Like the other dishes, it was fine, but really not great enough to say, «Hey, you wanna bite?» I know taking six people out for lunch might cost $ 100(which it did), but, it was a very unsatisfying since none of us thought it was very tasty. Our waitress, however, was a nice server and did a good job. And, yes, the bakery items were amazing.

Seeing as this is probably the only place in town with brunch, it was packed! But, well worth the wait. They have beautiful patio seating. I had the roasted butternut squash hash and it was pretty tasty. I could do with more«roast» on that squash though… I want some char and I definitely should have added the bacon :) Next time I want to try their brussel sprout hash.

This is the most charming café and bakery! I ordered one of the best lattes I’ve ever had(cinnamon roll) and a delicious quiche. My mom had the cinnamon French toast and it was to die. The restaurant gets packed– however we were offered a table share option and got in within 5 minutes. My mom and the other women ended up exchanging numbers at the end which added to the overall«small town» feel

The best thing about small towns like La Conner is the bakeries. The lunches were delicious(the breads! the pickle! the cookie that came with the kids meals!), but I was especially impressed with the bakery selection. The cinnamon roll and lemon bar were amazing. I would have to say I prefer the lemon bar over the roll, but lemon bars are my favorite. Perfect tartness and buttery crust. It was a perfect lunch to fuel us before the stroll around town. We’ll be back!

Nice little café and bakery with a great selection. Awesome that they’re not just a farm-to-table type place, but they’re also super GF and veg friendly. Very«cozy» inside and they don’t appear to have A/C, but who cares when they have outdoor seating on the canal? That said, it can be difficult to get one of said tables, which you’ll probably realize is way too small when they bring out your food. Still worth it. The food, coffee and baked goods were all very good. Shared a «split decision» brunch of smoked salmon scramble and BBQ bacon burger; the burger was average, but loved the scramble, the salmon was delicious. Pancakes were huge, pillowy and quite tasty. Would definitely come again(and likely will when I bring the family up for next tulip festival).

Almond mocha was good. Croissant was toasted and presented with jam and butter. Vegetarian egg scramble was not that great. Ambience and deck side seating is very good. Service is good.

If you are looking for great healthy food with an awesome atmosphere and terrific staff, this is a place you must visit. We had the Hudson scramble and the Linda’s Brother in law scramble. Good size portions and very tasty. I definitely recommend stopping by. The Passion Fruit ice tea is also very tasty!

My meal was just ok. It just really wasn’t that exciting. I would eat there again if I happened to be in town and didn’t find anything better, but it’s nothing I would hunt down. I was excited that they had gluten free baked goods. However the only thing they had the day I went in was their bread. I got a sandwich but the gluten free bread was so flimsy that I had to eat it with a knife and fork. It would probably be ok for toast but for a sandwich it was just a mess. Everyone else agreed that it was decent but not in any way memorable.

The food here was good. I came with my nephew and his daughter. Ordered beef rib teriyaki with shrimp. Was extra hungry, so I doubled down. Very good. Orange chicken was enjoyed by grandniece and yakisoba was enjoyed by nephew. Waitstaff could pay a little more attention to clients, but I’ll be back.

We visited on a sunny Saturday morning, and were promptly seated outside on the deck, which was gorgeous. Five minutes later we ordered food. The hostess had told us there were three quiche choices. But when we ordered, the waitress looked skeptical and said«we’re supposed to get rid of the salmon one first, but that’s fine.» Thirty minutes later the food(French toast; quiche; Brussels sprouts hash) was unceremoniously delivered. For twenty of those minutes, my wife’s coffee cup sat empty. After eating, there was another long wait for the bill. THEN we waited FOREVER to get our card back. Breakfast took almost an hour and a half! In all of that time, there was no word of apology or explanation. And, really, a hint of acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Especially since they weren’t particularly busy – and two of the tables near us just ordered cinnamon rolls. We also witnessed, during our purgatory, one of the waitstaff muttering about some customers who’d moved from shade to sun after asking a different employee. She was clearly peeved. This lack of professional service cancelled out the awesome river setting and the tasty food.

The food is still awesome and the huge cinnamon roll for under $ 5 is my favorite thing ever. The coffee was great this time if you like a dark French style roast which I do! It is a little pricey at around $ 2.50 for a cup of regular coffee. Unfortunately the service was pretty bad. We had to wait after being seated almost ten minutes until someone asked if we wanted anything to drink. It wasn’t even busy yet. One of the servers wasn’t super friendly but another who was helping us was. Communication between servers wasn’t very good because we got asked the same questions by different people(«can I take your order» when ours had been taken already) I will be coming back again even though the service wasn’t very good. Love dat gooey bun.
