Max’s Self Service Pet Wash And Grooming

Melissa has been grooming our dear Goddess for years. We wouldn’t go anywhere else. Melissa has brought a number of things to our attention, such as when she started having seizures or has gotten a foxtail so we could take Goddess to our vet. She takes the time to know her clients, our pups, and there is no groomer like her. Goddess adores her and can’t wait to go inside for spa day. Melissa is patient, dedicated to her profession, and does beautiful grooming.

I will never take my babies anywhere else. Mellisa is a true animal lover and is dedicated to our dogs.

Top notch business with good customer service. They took good care of my Lab. They even pointed out an ear infection we we not aware of. I recommend this place. I think I might try to wash my pup in between full service washes at Max’s also. The tubs are the perfect height.

My wife was quoted a price of $ 45.00 for wash and cut. We dropped off our dog, and about 2 hours later I received a call from Melissa the owner, «stating our dog was ready but the charge had gone up to $ 58.00». Melissa, explained that she had spent more time on our dog and the cost would go up because it was a specialty cut. I was not happy, and tried to explain this to Melissa. That once the original price of $ 45.00 was given, the price should not go up, even if more time was spent grooming our dog. I proceeded to convey this to Melissa, who became very stand offish interrupting me when I tried to explain my side of the story. After getting off the phone, i went to Max’s to pick up our dog. Walking to their front door, i could over hear Melissa, talking about our conversation, with people in her business… Wow, was I shocked! So was Melissa, once she saw me open the front door and walk through… Talk about uncomfortable moment… The interesting part was how she had charged me for a specialty cut but once i received our dog they had shaved all his hair. Shame on you Max’s!!! Not only for the bate and switch tactics, but overall customer service and lack of professionalism. I’ll take my business and dogie to (Wag your tail) in Sunland and so should U!

Small hole in the wall shop but friendly and helpful staff. There were four wash areas and three? Drying stations. The pricing is super reasonable, as well as offer grooming services as well. It’s a very relaxed little spot which is nice, helps calm any rowdy dogs. I will definitely be back!

This place was pretty cool! I took my fur baby here, she is a German shepherd husky mix and has that husky fur. It’s hard to wash her at home, so I decided to give this place a try. I’ve been looking everywhere for a self serve doggie wash near home! It was smaller than I expected but at least it wasn’t super crowded. They have individual tubs you can bathe your doggie in, and these cool drying stations right across! They also offer shampoo and lots of other amenities to use for your pup like ear cleaner and perfume. Definitely coming back here when my baby needs a bath again!

What a wonderful place!!! My son, Goldendoddle and I were greeted by Melissa. She welcomed us right in and explained how the bathtub and drying station worked. She showed us were all the supplies were at and left out extra stuff we may need. She then went back to her work and my son and I started our work! My son is 9 and had so much fun helping me wash our dog. It felt like we were in our own home. No one was rushing us or watching us. It was such a comfortable feeling there. The bathtub was nice and high. We were offered stairs if we needed it but I was comfortable lifting my dog up.
They provided everything we needed. All the shampoos, conditioners, perfume and even ear cleaner! It all smelled so good!
The place was nice and clean.
It was also nice and refreshing inside. Outside was about 102 today. My Dog was in heaven!
We will be coming back and spreading the word. Great place!

We started off taking our fur babies for wash and eventually started washing them ourselves. I find it very cool and convenient that you have the option to either drop them off or wash them yourself. The place is small (four spaces for washing and drying) but it gives it a homey feel. Its very down to earth and such a convenience when you have big dogs (no more strained back from bending over). Its also such a good feeling when the owners themselves run the place and know your fur babies by name. They’re always available to answer questions, it feels like your visiting with friends. Only down side is that the space is small and can sometimes get warm. Would also be nice if there was more separation between showers and drying area. Otherwise great place. Sad that we will be moving out of the area.

We took our 1 year old golden retriever here for her bath and I am so glad we did! Our golden came out so beautiful and clean. They also have a process for helping with her shedding. Melissa was very helpful and knowledgeable! She even gave us some great advice about what kind of food and treats would be good for our pup. We will definitely be back soon!

Super sweet and helpful staff. All is organized well to make your visit fast and easy. Definitely will be returning again soon with my other dogs. Great location as well!

I had an amazing experience with this self service. Took my fluffy dog for a simple wash and dry. Never thought cleaning my pup could be so easy and fun. They have a few variety of shampoos but what I like to do is bring my own just cause I know what soap works for my pup. The lady there was very friendly and helpful. She explained how it works and I got straight to it. I WILL be returning. :)

We’ve been bringing our two dogs here for the past few years already and we have no complaints! She does an amazing job at washing and grooming our dogs and calls us right when she’s done so we can pick them up. I know my smaller dog can be a bit of a handful because he hates bathes but she does great! I definitely recommend this place!

I’m really pleased that I found this place. My dog HATES baths. He is kind of afraid of water — runs away from sprinklers and doesn’t like going outside when it’s raining. I used to bath him at home in the tub, and he’d try to climb up me to get out. I didn’t really want to pay for something I could do at home but bathing him at home was so difficult I had to look into prices — and Max’s is great. He’s small so it’s $ 12.50 — that’s something like 2 giant fancy Starbucks coffees — totally worth it. I don’t have to clean my entire bathroom to get up wet dog hair, I don’t get a crick in my back from being hunched over the tub, I don’t have to deal with the dog hair covered towels.
I have brought my own shampoo because I like it better (my dog is black and my shampoo is especially for black fur), they don’t have a problem with that.
It can be loud — it’s a small space and dogs bark. I’d recommend the owners put up some acoustic foam on the ceiling, would probably cut down on the noise a bit. But some dogs just bark like crazy and there’s not much you can do.
It can be a bit hairy — I don’t really care about dog hair on the floor at a dog grooming place. If I’m there I’m about to add *more* hair to the floor. I’d rather not have somebody working there always vacuuming, that would only add to the noise of barking dogs and the blow dryers.
There’s fancier dog wash places where everything looks brand new and polished but if you just want a clean dog at a good price without somebody pushy trying to upsell you on the deluxe doggie package then Max’s is perfect.

I love this place! I’ve been coming here for the self-​service and finally I’ve decided to have my «monster Gigi» groom. (She really isn’t a monster). For some reason my dog hates to be groomed but I do appreciate Max’s for dealing with my dog’s personality. I will continue coming here she looks great all the time.

I called yesterday (a Wednesday) to confirm the business’s hours and ask a few questions about their setup; the lady I spoke with was very helpful. I will say that much. Told her I hoped to come wash my dogs the next day.
I arrived this morning after they should have already been open for an hour. I heard dogs barking inside. Their door was locked. I knocked… no answer. I called… got their machine with a weeks-​old message talking about how they’d be closed on August 17.
Finally two people walked up behind me with two more dogs and my dogs started to get excited, so I was dealing with all that while waiting and trying to give the benefit of the doubt. Finally after ten minutes of struggling, knocking, and calling, I gave up and took my business elsewhere.
I got a call back from Max’s about 20 minutes later. I believe I spoke to the same lady who was, again, polite. Apologized and told me that she had gone to pick up a client’s dog. That’s all well and good, but I see no reason why she could not have put a note on the door, or updated her answering machine message to indicate that sometimes they do have to lock their doors in order to pick up client’s dogs. If I’d known she’d be back, I would have taken my dogs back to the car to wait a few more minutes. By the time she called me back, I’d already dropped my dogs off at Wag My Tail in Sunland instead.
It’s a shame, because I was really excited to find a local place where I could save a few dollars by washing my dog myself at their facility.
I might give this place another chance in the future, but I would definitely recommend calling while you’re on your way to make sure someone is there and the door is open.

Came here because it was the nearest self wash to the dog park. There was only one girl in the shop and the dogs were barking like crazy, we could barely hear each other. Found out that the didn’t accept credit card so I had to walk over to the liquor store next door for cash back. They provided watered down shampoo, towels and brushes.
My dog weighs 55lbs and the tub and drying area are elevated so I wasn’t comfortable with lifting him and hurting myself. After a few minutes of just standing there without help I asked if they had doggy stairs or something and the girl reluctantly got the doggy ladder out.
Brushes had dog hair from other dogs on it (I’m not talking about a few strands… I mean it was FULL of dog hair) and the place just wasn’t clean; there was even a pile of washed but dirty looking towels in the corner with a random little dog hanging around in it. I ended up paying more here then just going to my usual spot. The girl on duty just looked so unhappy and wasn’t pleasant at all.
Won’t be back. But I highly recommend the Washing Spot in Silverlake if you live near there. I wish I made the extra drive.

I love this place and so does my Bella! It’s a really cute spot that allows you to DIY or be like me and have the professionals do the job. The prices are more than fair which ever way you go! My dog always looks happy and beautiful at the end of it all! It took me a long time to find a place I could trust. I’ve been coming here for a few years now, and have never been disappointed. The owner is passionate about dogs and really knows her stuff when it comes to grooming. The price is fair and the service great. What more can you ask for. Support local business.

I came here with my two dogs for the first time last week and did not have a pleasant experience at all. We came two hours before closing time, so it was not like we had to make the worker stay over hours.
First, the front door was kept locked so we had to knock for a while before she came to open the door. When we got in, she asked us if this was our first time here. We said yes, and she just showed us where the tubs are (which is obvious) and did not show us shampoos, towels, or anything else. When we asked her questions, she seemed distracted and tired.
Also, We were having trouble lifting our large dogs into the tub and the lady just watched us struggle until I asked if she had steps for the dogs to use. She just pointed at where the steps were and left us to carry and set up the steps.
The shampoo was very watered down and did not lather at all. We had to use the whole bottle for about ¼ of one dog, and we felt bad to use several bottles so we decided to just use the warm water to scrub our dogs down.
Overall, this self-​serve dog wash was not that great. The only better things about this place than home is having warm water and a dryer. Home is better in that there are no angry workers, barking dogs, or diluted shampoos. Plus, home washing is free.
I don’t regret coming to Max’s dog wash, because it proved to me that, though almost all reviews are great, visiting on a bad day is possible.

ok this place is great!
first off two fridays ago was my very first time here, and my pup was in dire need of a bath… 2 months without having one –_​– i’m great. anyway, i walk in the very nice young lady working there gave me a tub right away showed me where all of the towels, brushes, etc are and i was able to do my thang with out any time limits (cough cough «u wash doggie» cough cough). they have two strong dyers and two not so strong ones for the less hairy. luckily when the people before me stopped using the strong ones, she told me i could steal them to use on my girl.
it’s a small place, but i definitely loved it. i’m one of those people that has to do their own grooming because their dog my flip their sh*t with someone else, so this is perfect. especially since it’s much closer to home than the washing spot is (which is where i usually go)
in connclusion… i definitely recommend!
