Watch out Mamas… there’s a new, old kid on the block! This place is totally revamped! I’m so glad to my friend Matt for introducing me to this place. The place is dark, red black interior. Nothing fancy… but then you get to the bar and are greeted with an outrageous selection of craft beers on tap! I don’t drink… a lot, but when I drink it better be great! This place fits the bill from French Connections, Tokyo Teas, to CHIMAY on TAP! New owners have come in and put a tasteful and kickback vibe back to the place. I think the old colorful days are over. On Fridays, there is a DJ. The drinks are always made well. They even give out complimentary bottled water. There prices are so affordable too, so please don’t come here if you are recovering or in AA, this place will infectiously turn you around! This will be my new local watering hole but it’s only out of the kindness that I share with Unilocal. Their beer collection is stellar. I even like the beer here and I’m not a beer girl at all. Seriously, any place that has Chimay on tap deserves 5 stars. Watch out for this bar, it will be the next best thing to hit Foothill. For now, there are two pool tables, bar seating and table seating! This place gets improved by the week!

Whisperz. Or is it The Drink? No, I’m pretty sure they re-named it Don’s Den. Hold on, oh yeah. Whisperz. With a Z. Whisperz. Great location. Here’s why: If the drink prices are too high in the bar, you can walk next door to Foothill Liquor. Get a tall can(ask kindly for brown bag for concealment) and stand out front Whisperz. Smoke a few Marlboro 72s(excellent trend factor, more so than Parliament) and get your buzz on. They let some cool local bands play once in awhile. Regardless of ownership, bartenders have always been pretty cool. Boozers can’t complain.

I am unashamed member of the crowd that appreciates things that are indescribably awful. Unfortunately, I can in fact identify the shortcomings of Whisperz. On a Friday night this bar had the atmosphere of a vacuum chamber. Normally I’d wave that off as an anomaly but Whisperz has failed to improve upon my initial impression. Perhaps I am just too young and not quite jaded enough to appreciate a bar in La Crescenta as a destination.

Extremely relaxed, casual, funky-divey place to shoot pool, play darts, listen to karaōke, groove to live bands, enjoy some stiff drinks and be treated oh-so-nicely by the staff. Very diverse crowd, so you don’t have to worry about being, «creepy old guy,» or «desperate cougar,» at Whisperz. All the character of a fun dive without any of the fear factor. It’s freeway-convenient and in a decent neighborhood, so you won’t be running out to your car to check if it’s been stolen, every five minutes. Make sure to say hello to your fabulous bartender, Rebekah. Oh yeah, tossing peanut shells on the floor adds just the rustic touch.

Whisperz Bar is located on Foothill Blvd. at Lauderdale. You can’t miss it, there is a BIGNEON sign on the north side of the street. The bar and bathrooms are kind of dirty and the crowd that hangs there is sometimes annoying. The last few Saturday nights I’ve been there, it’s been pretty dead. BUT — the drinks are cheap, the bartender is nice and they have karaōke, pool, darts, beer pong and music. I always have a great time when go. If you go with a group of friends, you’ll have the whole place to yourself.

Whisperz is not your average dive bar, and that’s why I like it. The crowd is, how you say, «diverse», and always entertaining and interesting. The owner is a great guy and always milling with the crowd, and the bartenders are very friendly and pour a great drink. The beer is constantly evolving and keeps the place interesting. La Crescenta is a pretty dead town, but this bar is alive and kicking!(Literally!)

Whisperz is located in La Crescenta, as K likes to call it, «LA’s balcony». It is pretty small, but has enough seating and a pool table. The karaōke is pretty hilarious and isn’t polluted with«American Idol» wannabes that take it too seriously. The drinks are made well and are darn cheap. The crowd was fun, no annoyances, no lame-Os. Average age was about 27 – 30. My type of crowd. Big surprise, it’s on Foothill Blvd. like the rest of the town is. **EDIT** So, to counteract the American Idol hopefuls, I decided to sing… oh but 5 – 7 times during the night. Including, «A Moment Like This», in which I got the crowds arms waving… saw a lighter or 2 go up. Karaōke is fun… not to be take seriously… you are LAME if you do so.
