thank you cups! For your exceptional service, for your clean bathrooms and for your cupcakes baked free of GMO and cancer causing ingredients. What a better planet we would have if every company was organic and free of pesticides in their food and products? My favorite cupcake is the cream brulee, it has a center of vanilla cream in the center and a sugar glaze on top. Ask for a frequent buyer card when you go.

Totally one of my favorite places in La Jolla. Their cupcakes are always a welcome treat no matter the season. I always get the Brullée-J, which has crisp sugar on top of a creamy filling. Their smaller cupcakes are a perfect way to enjoy a sweet without the implied guilt, and for just $ 2, it can be easily budgeted if you’re hurting in the wallet.

Cups, cups — Hooooray! First things first, GMO free zone. What a refreshing and organic approach to food. Wouldnt this be a better world if more companies like CUPS were in business? $ 2.00 for a mini cupcake, i dont think thats too much to ask for when you omit the pesticides and chemicals that are slowly causing us cancers and God only knows what else. Anyway, go here because they cupcakes are yummmy and everyone is super nice. I swear they are so professional and curteous, my only dislike of cups is that they charge .50 cents for water: / Well, it is la jolla after all. But the cupcakes are great! my favorite? The orange ricotta. To die for! D I E i say !!

It’s hard for me to not rave about Cups. I was lucky enough that my first day in SD happened to be on their opening night so I sampled about 7 mini cakes on my that visit! I’ve been back regularly and am ALWAYS impressed with the food. The only variable seems to be customer service, mostly great but with some lack of care late in the day. Regardless, this spot is always going to be a regular in my book — especially as they always have a VEGAN cupcake. So much less guilt: D

Stumbled upon this«cupcakery» on Halloween. Talk about an adorable gift idea to surprise any friend, relative or client! Such perfect use of color, presentation, and most importantly flavors. My only critique is that they seemed a bit short staffed, the other customers see to be waiting a long time without being greeted.

Ouch.)-; If you give a Unilocaler a cupcake, chances are she’s going to want a glass of water to go with it. But paying 50 cents for a cup of water stings.)-; I love me some organic cupcakes at Cups, such as the vanilla vixen with real vanilla bean frosting, but I’m a paying customer, buying a cappuccino and a cupcake, and I deserve a free cup of water upon request.(They don’t sell water bottles, by the way.) Girard gourmet gives me free water! They have a water dispenser and cups for customers. They are just down the street from Cups. Next time I’m in La Jolla, and I want something sweet, will I be tempted by the $ 4 vanilla vixen cupcake or the crème brûlée cupcake at Cups, where I’ll have to pay 50 cents for a cup of water? Or will I stroll down the street and buy a muffin or a fruit pastry at Girard gourmet, where a cup of water is complimentary? 50 cents is barely a handful of change. But it’s insulting to be charged for water when I’m a paying customer.

Ever since corner cupcakes closed, cups has been my favorite cupcake in town. My wife says I like ‘dry’ cupcakes, but I just don’t like them too wet. I love almost all of their flavors but my favorites are the vanillas. Yum.

Cute place in La Jolla for cupcakes and drinks. Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake: The cake was moist and the strawberry lemon filling was a surprise! The frosting was perfectly paired and not overly sweet. A great cupcake overall! Italian Soda — Agave flavor: tasted like honey and sparkling soda. Wasn’t a big fan of this drink, I will order something else next time.

Cupcake lounge with organic cupcakes and coffee! Yes, please! Had to get some work done, even during a getaway. We both are glued to our laptops. Free wifi. Comfy seating. Spacious. Bonus: puppie friendly and they have cuppies! :) Treats for the pups. It’s La Jolla, so plenty of cute pups to distract me. Yumz: Minty one Coco-limey Pumpkin harvest Brulee cupcake Huge selection. Fun place!

Love their organic eco-friendliness! I mostly just come here for their coffee(instead of stopping at Starbucks!) I’ve had a bite of a cupcake before and it was really good but I don’t eat sweets that often besides coffee! Fun and cute atmosphere inside, I like sitting at their bar or cool tables! Definitely worth a stop in for a quick snack or drink!

Nice little set up to have cupcakes and a drink(non alcoholic). A nice variety of cups to select. I selected the Chocolate by Death and my boyfriend got the Cookies and Crème. The cups were«ok», nothing I can rave about. But if you don’t like sweet, this is the cupcake for you and they do have vegan cups and gluten free available in some of the flavors. The cups were dense for me, I like them a little lighter with more sweetness.

I love this place! It’s so cute, the service was great and the treats were amazing. I loved the berry scone and the coffee I got was great. Cons the banana cupcake wasn’t that great):

This places pitch is all the cupcakes are made w/organic materials. We got the mini Red Velvet, Mozart(gluten free, almond/vanilla, buttermilk), and Tarzan(banana cup, peanut butter, chocolate). The only flavor I liked was the Mozart(almond vanilla/buttermilk). The red velvet & Tarzan was also over-the-top sweet. I felt like I needed something to neutralize the sweetness or something. They all tasted okay, but $ 2 for a super-mini cupcake? I felt like we got hustled or something: P They also have coffee and stuff too.

For a legitimate business in downtown La Jolla, you really shouldn’t insult the customer when you say that it’s CASHONLY, because«the internet is down.» Really, really, no internet. Oh wait… no internet yesterday… no internet tomorrow. Why don’t you just get rid of that«the internet is down» sign and just say«CASHONLY.» We already know that you’re douches anyway for doing cash only, but you become a super douche to play it off. But it didn’t matter. Even with the 4 cupcakes I ordered, Vanilla Vixen, Brulee J, Hazed and Confused, and Cookies and cream, I found them to be lacking and overpriced. For $ 4, you get a mediocre at best, and the size does not match the size compared to Sprinkles or the nearby Burger Lounge(which has internet btw since I paid in credit card) that gives both quantity and quality. This place also seemed pretentious too.

My friend have been telling me about their crème brûlée cupcakes for years, and today I finally got to try it. The idea of a crème brûlée cupcake was intriguing. It was actually a vanilla cupcake with pastry cream center and brulee on top. I was there initially for the brulee cupcake, but my friend and I also decided to share 2 other minis– caramel macchiato and coconut cream. The caramel macchiato tops the crème brûlée and turns out to be my favorite of the three! The chocolate/coffee cake base was super super moist. We could instantly tell how moist the cupcake was when we were cutting the knife into it. The moist crumbs covered the whole knife! The chocolate, coffee, and caramel flavor was absolutely heavenly together. And best of all, it wasn’t too sweet. The other one we got was the coconut cream. Coconut taste was subtle. Cake base was not as moist as the caramel one. And the frosting was too buttery– tasting to me. We came again the very next day with more friends and tried the strawberry milk. It was yummy. I thought it tasted like. melted strawberry ice cream/milk shake. I highly recommend getting the Caramel Machiaato and the Strawberry Milk(:

Was in the area and Unilocaled for a dessert stop. Found Cups. They have 2 sizes of cupcakes, which is great. $ 2 for the mini and $ 4 for the large cup. Organic pastries are in demand. People love having that option. I doesn’t taste like it either… whatever people think organic is suppose to taste like. Light and not too sweet frosting is a plus. Service is a plus. Raspberry Cheese cup and Brulee J were my fave. Great mini bite to satisfy a sweet tooth. Enjoy.

Following brunch we decided to hit up some sweets at Cups. I have had Cups before an a VIP event, and was really excited to come to the storefront. We decided to order the following minis($ 2/ea): –Not so Red Velvet –Peanut Butter Cup –Death by Chocolate –Bottoms Up Although I appreciate the«organic» concept, I just didn’t LOVE the cupcakes. One of the cupcakes crumbled when sliced into and tasted like a bran muffin. The cakes just weren’t moist, and I was a bit disappointed. Perhaps it’s the ingredients utilized ??? Nevertheless, it just wasn’t to my liking. The store is located next to the old Jack’s restaurant/club. Inside, there are several seats avail and the décor is super cute. Street parking is available, but could get busy during peak times. TIP: 10% off for students & military — must show your ID.

Ah, Cups La Jolla. In my opinion, the crème de la crème of cupcake bakeries in San Diego. I should also mention that Cups is home to a lounge and cooking school. If you and your friends are on the hunt for a new hangout to get your sweet tooth fix, belt out a few tunes AND brush up on your culinary skills, then you’ve come to the right place. Cups offers an amazing assortment of flavors with fun names to match. I ordered the Velours Rouge once because I enjoyed saying the name aloud. :D Fortunately for me the cupcake itself tasted delicious and moist: a winning combination of dark chocolate topped with sweet cream cheese frosting. Yum! Cups also has a rotating menu so each day they offer a different variety of cupcakes to choose from. Yay: Ingredients are all organic. Options for those with dietary restrictions: vegan, flourless, gluten-free, dairy-free and low-glycemic. Cool tunes. Eco-friendly lounge. Nay: Tad pricey.
