I have been here a few times, and all the times I have experienced terrible customer service. At one time when I asked fo my check I paid with cash and the waiter never brought my cash back he assumed I was tipping him over 10 dllrs. Rude!!! Another time, we were a party of 4 and there was only two sets of silverware. We asked for more utensils and they gave us the worse attitude! Like a was such a chores to get it, when its their freaking job to get it right with that!!! How else are people suposed to eat!!! And on top of that they give you attitude? How about an apology? They hate when you bring a coupon, they give you attitude all the time!!! Food is alright thats why the one start

Very nice food and delicious. So big portion and taste good. I will go back for sure with my friends & if you visiting la Jolla you should go for sure. I have been in la Jolla for almost one year and half and this is one of the Best restaurants I can say. I try the Italian cupcake was so big and delicious. Good Service too

By far the best breakfast I’ve had in recent memory! Ah heck in all memory. We ordered the Santa Fe omelet & the German pancake & my girlfriend had the water.

My boyfriend and I both work in the La Jolla area and often times have breakfast at one of the many restaurants in the area. Richard Walker’s is definitely one of our favorites! I love the olives in the Mediterranean Omelette, and the crepes are friggin scrumptious! Not to mention the iced tea is definitely one of the best that I’ve had, it doesn’t have that bland taste I’ve had at many other restaurants. Just note that this place does fill up fast on weekends. Generally it gets packed around 8:30−9ish.

Decided to try this spot out and was sorry that I did. The waitress was nice enough but the fruit was not fresh and the food was ok. The waitress told us that the only fresh fruit was strawberries. Great we ordered strawberry pancakes, crepes and a waffle. The strawberries were old and they brought out a banana that was old as well. Will not return Update. 1÷28÷16 Richard contacted me and apologized for the terrible experience. Even sent me a $ 15 gift card to return. The terrible breakfast was around $ 60 but still a nice gesture. I’ll go back now and see if I get a different experience.

My SO and were craving pancakes, so we decided to head to this breakfast eatery down the street. Very impressed! Huge selection of pancakes, crepes, and waffles and everything else you’d expect at your typical breakfast establishment. We ordered 2 entrees: the Santa Fe omelet, which was pretty good, and the highlight of our meal: the HUGE Baked Apple Pancake. Holy smokes. The aroma itself is enough to get you to want to try it. Every bite packs some rich, cinnamon-y goodness. And its size is enormous! We couldn’t finish the whole thing. Other pluses: No wait time(we were lucky), very attentive service and top-notch coffee. Right on, y’all!

Came here for breakfast and we narrowly missed the Sunday morning crowd(arrive before 8:30a to avoid the line). Ordered the banana pancakes with eggs and sausage while hubby had chocolate chip pancakes with diced ham and eggs. The eggs and meats were ok, definitely nothing to write home about but the pancakes were delicious. Tender and chewy just the way they should be. The highlight was their service. Our waters and coffees were constantly filled and we were checked on regularly without feeling pressured. Will come back again to try their specialty pancakes

This place is great!!! Their coffee is awesome. Orange juice is fresh squeezed! My boyfriend got the eggs Benedict which was alright, nothing special. Their hash browns are yummy. I got the German pancake, which was heavenly!!! It was crispy on the edges and light and fluffy on the inside. I’ve never had anything like it. It comes with powdered sugar, butter, and lemon juice for you to add on — an amazing concoction! You eat it by rolling it up like a burrito after adding everything on top… I just cut little pie-shaped pieces and rolled them up it was much easier to eat that way. Definitely recommend!

My husband and I are new to the area and were looking for a good breakfast place downtown while celebrating our anniversary. We had read so many positive reviews on Richard Walker’s Pancake House that we had to go! The line wasn’t bad, and smaller parties are seated faster. It’s a busy place! But cute and cozy like most businesses in the city area. The food is a 12⁄10 !!! My husband ordered the Georgia Pecan Pancakes and I ordered the Mediterranean Omelette With Cheese. The servings were huge! And for it being so busy, it was nice to still have our waitress check up on us periodically. I dont’ remember how much our bill but if you’re looking for an exquisite breakfast experience in San Diego, make your way to this restaurant.

This place was fantastic. Stubbled upon this gem on accident. A couple friends and I were initially planning on going to The Cottage, but decided against the ridiculous two hour wait time(weekend during a fair, I believe). Checked this place out, saw the great reviews and called to find out that the weight time was only 5 minutes! How great was that? Got seated quickly and customer service was great. My friends got the spinach crêpe and Santa Fe omelette, while I got the San Diego french toast. The food was delicious and was served quickly. Will definitely be returning again.

Pretty good brunch place. Parking is a little hard to find but not impossible. Usually La Jolla is pretty crowded parking wise! Overall it was a great experience. Service was quick and snappy. I ordered the french toast and got a lot of food with a lot of fruit. Super yummy. Asked the waiter what the difference between pancakes and griddle cakes were, and got a really convoluted answer. So basically pancakes are cooked in pans and griddle cakes are cooked on a griddle? But pancakes should be cooked on a griddle soooo aren’t they both? Over all would recommend this place. Also if you get the baked pancake, be ready to not eat for the rest of the day.

I’ve never been so disappointed and confused as to how a simple breakfast can be so un-impressive considering the number of rave reviews. We walked in for brunch on the Saturday after thanksgiving and was pleasantly surprised to be seated fast. Things went downhill pretty fast. We ordered the kids Silver Dollar pancakes for my toddler n they were brought out promptly. They were pretty huge to be considered ‘silver dollar’ but that’s fine by me! My husband ordered the special — Fresh basil omelette which turned out to be a colossal disappointment! Under seasoned and very very unimaginative. He also had a cup of the house special coffee and it was mediocre at the best. I ordered the spinach crepes with sautéed mushrooms and hollandaise. The sauce was cold n lumpy when served and it just turned the meal into a mushy mess instead of complement it. My mom had the Greek salad which she actually liked so I guess that’s the safest option to stick to though I definitely will not be returning.

Well, I have a new favorite breakfast place. Outside they have a place for people to queue up(with some seating) when a line forms and I can understand why. This place serves a fantastic breakfast! We had such a fun time here and couldn’t stop raving over how good the food was. I actually had a difficult time deciding what to get because there were three or four items that were quite compelling to me. They had a season item(pumpkin pancakes) that I had never heard of before. The San Diego French Toast that is topped with fresh fruit sounded delicious also. We ended up settling on the apple pancake to share(because it is huge) along with some eggs and bacon! The pancake was fresh apples, cinnamon glaze, and was surprisingly thick. Although I loved it the next time there is a chocolate explosion crêpe calling my name. We actually went on Halloween and the servers were dressed up in costumes. I don’t remember the name of our server but she was dressed as a scarecrow and she was so friendly and attentive. When I informed her that I was due a free high five for checking in on Unilocal(it’s true) she happily obliged! There are some beautiful stained glass windows in the front that were lit up nicely as we were eating. There’s also some outdoor seating if you want to take advantage of the nice La Jolla weather. When we left I noticed in the window they had listed several awards that Richard Walker’s has won. They are definitely well deserved. I can’t wait to go back!

I had a 7 am boxing class at Armone’s Core Connection. The workout was high intensity plus I exercised without eating breakfast. So I decided to stop by Richard Walker’s since it was down the street and I needed fuel fast. There were 2 waitresses working the tables this early in the morning. About 2⁄3 of the spacious room was occupied. I had studied the menu before heading there so I ordered the baked apple pancake as soon as the waitress seated me. The baked apple pancake takes 18 – 20 minutes so it’s a good idea to order it right off the bat when you sit down. When my waitress brought out the baked apple pancake, I was in heaven!!! The portion was huge; the size of a large salad plate. And it smelled wonderful: vanilla, sugar, cinnamon, baked apples. To me, that’s one of the smells of the winter holidays. I ate a little bit of it before I packed it to go since little ol’ me couldn’t(and wouldn’t, not after working out) finish that whole pancake. It’s definitely a sharing dish. The pancake texture was like a semi solid custard texture. Very eggy. I loved everything about it. Definitely coming back to order this and their other selections.

Happy Veterans Day and thank you to all our military family that keep us safe. Day off and had my daughter Unilocal a breakfast spot. We live in Mira Mesa and she finds this place that’s 15 miles away. This is LA Jolla and you will pay LA Jolla prices. $ 21 a person is about average. I ordered the classic Benny with a side of corned beef hash. The hash was a bit grainy and cooked well. I would pass next time. Wife ordered the vegetable omelet. Omelet was nice and fluffy and I may get an omelet next time I feel like paying $ 21 for brunch. Overall, it was a good spot but next time I would make a day of it instead of driving this way for just brunch.

Was informed about this brunch place from my coworker and there were only a handful of these restaurants in the nation. And one day after picking up my fiancée’ from work I had decided to give this place a try. I called to see if they took reservations but unfortunately they do not. Upon arrival about 1030am; driving by there was a few groups outside waiting to be seated. There is no private lot for parking so you’ll have to get lucky finding street parking or pay to park in lot. Luckily, i use to work in downtown la jolla so i know my way around to finding parking. Atmosphere: I was concerned for the wait but my fiancée’ and i were quickly sat within 10mins. Very open bright restaurant with modern décor. Quite a number of seats and booths for a moderated sized brunch place. We were sat down the aisle of the restaurant half booth(shared) and a chair along the aisle. To me kinda felt a little claustrophobic. Food/Drinks: It was our first time here so we needed a little more time look over the menu. We started out with fresh squeezed O.J. and grapefruit. Very fresh and tasty. After going over the menu and reading some favorites within Unilocal.I decided to go with the corned beef hash and eggs with hash-brown. The corned beef hash was different from your typical places. Not greasy, kinda of a grainy consistency but it was good. Expected a lot after reading a review from Unilocal on the corned beef hash. the highlight of my plate was the hash-browns(im a big hash-brown fan) cooked perfectly crisp on the outside and a nice moist medium texture on the inside. My fiancée’ went with the blueberry pancakes with bacon and eggs. Usually bacon is bacon and over cooked. But this place had it right. Nice thick cut maple taste that was not burnt and had a crisp chewy perfect texture in each bite. They forgot to put cheddar on the eggs that my fiancée had ordered but quickly came out fixed. I was able to taste the blueberry pancakes she ordered and i must say one of the best i’ve had. Light, fluffy, and you don’t get that filling feel after eating just one. Service: Service was good. Water was filled quickly. Waiter was attentive. Although, did feel kinda rushed. And did notice that’s how the line moved fast and wait was short. Overall: Came here for breakfast and didn’t want to order anything big since we had plans later in the afternoon. Seemed like everyone was ordering the baked pancake and/or omelette. Will have to give that a try IF ever we decide to come back, I’ll be sure to update. But my coworker over-hyped this place up for me and after looking at the reviews i had high exciting expectations but it was an «A-OK» first time experience.

A good breakfast/brunch choice if you are visiting or staying in the area and don’t have many options, but not something I’d choose to go to. FOOD: Lots of common breakfast entrees. It reminded me of every other diner. large portions disguising the quality. There were barely any meat dishes though! The Fresh Spinach Omelette was pretty good. The mushroom sauce made it really good. The Corned Beef Hash was disappointing. I think it was just a little too grounded that it made it more difficult to eat. The Pancakes were a bit dry. The Strawberry Crepes was simple but was probably my favorite dish. AMBIANCE: Bright, energetic spot that had the proper sophistication of a La Jolla restaurant. There were lots of indoor and outdoor seating. SERVICE: We had a huge party(over 30) and were seated quite faster than I was expecting. Even when it looked busy, they were pretty good at situating us promptly. Servers were all very friendly and helpful. They were also patient with our hectic bunch. TIPS: Parking could be hard to find. best bet for free parking is in the neighborhoods toward the shore. Just go for the sweeter breakfast dishes cause there’s not much to choose from in the meat section.

We visited Richard Walker’s Pancake House this morning for brunch. Located near the beach in La Jolla, available street parking is difficult to find on a weekend morning, but there are a few pay garages nearby. This restaurant does not take reservations or have a list. You stand in line outside until your turn. But the line actually moved pretty quickly today. We ordered soon after being seated since we wanted entrée items we knew took longer to prepare, but they didn’t seem to take all that long to arrive. We got an iced tea(good) and a coffee(weak) to drink, both $ 2.95; and decided to share the Apple Pancake and a Baked Western Omelette, both $ 12.95. The cinnamon apples on the pancake were so amazing! The pancake itself was good, but not something I’d want to eat a lot of. I actually picked off and ate most of the apples from my half of the pancake. The baked omelette was very good. Not at all greasy like some skillet omelettes can be. It came with a side of toast that was dry/nothing special, but the accompanying triple berry jam was so delicious. It’s apparenly made by a local lady and I wish I could buy some. The thing lacking for us was service. We had a hard time flagging anyone down for sweetener for the coffee(there was only a sugar container on the table), hot sauce for our meal, and any drink refills. The glasses and coffee cups are smaller than most restaurants, and we would have liked refills with our meal. We asked person who brought our food, but he never came back and we never saw our waiter again until he came with the bill. I did ask him for a refill then since I was very thirsty. He came back for my payment without beverages, but after he brought my card back, he stopped by with more iced tea, but no coffee or water for John though so I shared my tea. :(

I came in to Richard Walker’s hoping to find a fine stack of pancakes, and when I saw they had«Pigs in a New Car» or pigs in a blanket. Order them and a cup of their house drip coffee provided by Boyd’s. The three rolled pancaked stuffed with sausage links were pretty good and came sprinkled with a dusting if powdered sugar. The pancakes were a tad gummy, but other than that they had a mild sweet flavor and were moist. I really liked that they served whipped butter with the pancakes and warm maple syrup. The breakfast sausage were typical and tasted good. Their flavor was mild with nice seasoning and an ever so slight spice. The whipped butter was very good and was easy to spread given its room temp. Also the maple was very good and so was the tropical sauce on the side that reminded me of a sweetened marmalade. The Boyd’s coffee was okay. It was a little bitter, but good for the most part. Frankly, I was surprised they were using Boyd’s. I just figured a place like this would be using a more up scaled roast. Not that there is anything wrong with Boyd’s. It’s just that I normally run into it in diners and fast food places. Service was very attentive. It was a little rushed but understandable given the lines that form outside on peek hours. Everyone was friendly and helpful. A solid 3.5.

The German pancake with whipped butter, lemon, maple syrup and powdered sugar… sweet gods of *drool*… I absolutely love sweet lemony things. I have never had a pancake like this before! It was so soft and moist! The texture was almost custard like. The crust is fluffy and soft, reminiscent of a popover. Just amazing. The eggs Benedict english muffin was large and nice, canadian bacon was… canadian bacon, the poached eggs were nearly cooked to perfect(slightly over) and lastly the hollandaise sauce, by itself, was *meh*. It tasted like boxed hollandaise not *home made* like the menu claims. Tried to doctor the sauce by adding some lemon but over all would never order it again. Skip it! Got a side of bacon… cause BACON! They have some seriously good bacon! Thick sexy strips you can really sink your teeth into. Hot off the grill, cripsy, and great flavor. Yuummmm!!! All and all would definitely go back. Mainly for the german baked pancake and the bacon mmmmmm.
