I had a rather complicated surgery with Dr. Tung and I am so pleased with the results. I subsequently fractured my spine and once again the care was superb. I mainly deal with his Nurse Practioner Paul who has been about as good as it gets in providing clear information, taking time to answer questions, and recommending treatments/remedies. I was surprised to see the low grades– I have been a patient for three years and I could not be happier with this practice.

This doctor’s office used to be good. Now, this office is completely incompetent. I am required to see the doctor once per month but the office is so mismanaged they have rescheduled my appointment many times. I have been waiting 8 months for my regular«monthly» appointment. They did not even have the decency to tell me my appointment had been rescheduled… I took today off work and drove all the way to La Jolla, only to be told I could not be seen and my appointment needed to be rescheduled again. Extremely unprofessional.

Think twice or three times before going to this doctor, unless you are prepared to be treated like a criminal and interrogated by him and his staff. I waited a long time for my appointment and the day of the appointment was no different — I still had to wait a long time beyond my appointed time. There was a entire room of other patients waiting to be seen. You will also be waiting a long time in a crowded small waiting area. In my presence in the examination room he took two lengthy personal calls from his cell phone. One was from a personal friend who was seeking some help from him as a patient, rather than letting those calls go to his voice mail. I thought that was so rude and unethical. Dr. Tung lacks other professional office behavior — he leaves your chart all over including in your room while he leaves to give commands to his staff to make calls, then he can’t remember where he left it. Imagine you are opened up on the operating table and his cellphone rings… or he forgets your vital information. Would you care? Overall opinion… he has zero to no interest in helping you with your situation, only what benefits him on paper as he makes his report. He is more faithful to who is paying him than the patient. I’d find another doctor that deserves your attention and has his best interest for you.
