i’ve been in a rut recently with working out — pretty much doing the same cardio and weight machines and i needed a change of pace. so when maggie had an opening on friday morning, i jumped at the chance to sign up. maggie is an accomplished triathlete. she hosts boot camps, teaches zumba, pilates and personal training. over the years, i’ve met a couple of her clients at different events. some ranged from beginner to those training for a marathon to triathletes. with my busy schedule, private sessions worked out the best for me. we met up at la jolla shores beach and since it was my first session, we talked about past injuries, current issues, what my current work out plan was and what i’d like to improve. maggie was very positive and she gave me variations on the exercises in case i needed to adjust for my knee. it’s been almost a year since my surgery and some of my muscles have overcompensated during the healing process. in order to re-balance myself, we focused on core strength training as well as building the strength in my gluts and quads. it was great to get outside of a gym and enjoy how beautiful san diego is. despite the cool weather, i worked up a sweat and had to peel off my fleece. another big plus was that i didn’t have to bring anything. maggie brings all of the necessary equipment from mats, rollers, medicine balls, etc. the work out varied with cardio of running on the beach to jumping rope to strength training with pilates and weight resistance. she’s the fifth trainer whom i’ve working out with in my life and i have to say that she really kept flow interesting and fun. boo-tay shorts here i come!

I love my work out with Maggie! She makes those early morning crunches a lot of fun. I feel energized just being around her so you can imagine what it’s like to get kicked and prodded into shape. Plus the different locations keep things interesting and it’s so beautiful watching the sun rise.

Maggie aka MC Mag Light is awesome! She is as knowledgeable about training as she is enthusiastic and she’s got awesome attitude in spades. I had been suffering from some back injuries for months before I spoke with her. She helped guide me to movements that were practical for my lifestyle and most importantly that worked. If you’re looking for top notch training, then you should up your fit! So stretch first and then run to join up!
