Just went to see if this still existed. 20 may16. … Nope. Really disappointed. There is a food truck gathering at the La Mesa best buy(on Fletcher prkwy) on Tuesdays from 5 – 8 though.

Does this even happen anymore? I saw it earlier this year but nothing consistent. Why would Unilocal keep it up though? The trucks were good too. No lines. Simple process.

My girlfriend knows the founder & creator of cousins lobster Sabin Lomac and his cousin Jim Tselikis and we wanted to see what all the hype was about their food truck they opened. This cousins food truck was the nearest to us in La Mesa and by the time we got there of course there was a line. The price is pretty expensive, but let me just state«it is well worth it!» Me and my girlfriend ordered the Connecticut Lobster Roll and I ordered the Lobster Quesadilla with a cup of Lobster Bisque. They were all phenomenal and made we want to come back for more!!! If your ever in this area please try this food truck!!! Top truck in my Unilocal so far.

Last night I got a PorkBelly sandwich from the Devilicious truck. It was definitely devilicious. There was a little bit of greens with it that didn’t do a whole lot for me flavorwise but what the heck, they’re good for me. I felt like some of the items offered on trucks were a little overpriced but the sandwich I got was definintely worth it. I’ll be back.

Just go! Always a treat every time we go. Usually one truck from each food group. By that I mean burgers, Mexican, dessert, new age, and so forth. Just go eat there and enjoy.

I really like the food truck vibe when eating, casual but friendly. I have only been here once, you get big portions and a relaxed group of people just standing around or deciding where to eat. Both me and my brother ate from the Devilicious truck it was really good. Parking is difficult to find, take your time and be patient and plan to sit on the sidewalk.

I love me a good Food Fest with a variety of food trucks to choose from. On this visit, there were four food trucks and one dessert truck. The formation was small with the trucks around the perimeter and a small opened center.( ) There was no seating, except for a few steps in front of the business’s parking lot, so plan accordingly, unless you don’t mind standing around chatting it up with the local peeps. Like I said, there were a variety of food trucks, but the one I visited this time around was the Devilicious( ), where I enjoyed a fantastic Pork Belly Melt, that I will review on Devilicious’s page. I visited all the trucks, and I am happy to report that they were all nice people. Good times and I look forward to my next stop over to try a different truck.

Call me a Food Truck follower, yup thats me and I admit it. Some friends and I decided to stop and check this food truck spot out. It is on Friday evenings in La Mesa. I was excited. I love to follow food trucks. I admit that I was a little disappointed that the night that. we choose to check out this spot there were only three food trucks. This is not a bad thing, however it does limit the selection of foods that can be found. With the three food trucks that were at this location, the food was mouthwatering good. Once you look around the parking lot that the trucks are parked in you quickly realize that not many more food trucks would fit. I was able to get sone good eats. Including some Italian fod and cupcakes. My that the food trucks at this location can. change each Friday. Which means… you guessed it… more trips back to this location. I think that I found a twitter feed that announces which trucks will be here on Fridays. This is worth checking out people. Note: parking is on the street, and its poorly lit if your going after sundown.

My first foray into San Diego food truck culture was the La Mesa Food Fest, and as a frequent and loyal food truck customer who has been spoiled by her hometown trucks(Durham, NC), I was not disappointed. As I have come to expect in Durham, the San Diego food trucks at the La Mesa Fest* advertised local ingredients, offered innovative menus, and possessed a certain unique character. I spent a while watching customers, noting that many wandered the lot before choosing their fare, while others made a beeline for their favorite trucks. All of the trucks appeared to be doing good business, but while Fest starts at 5, most trucks weren’t open until 5:15 or so, and most people showed up around 6. The food selection was varied, though I imagine this is luck of the draw, dependent on which trucks show up any given Friday. Among the more interesting and innovative were Devilicious and Underdog. GStC offered both standard British fare and some twists on the usual. Neither Calbi nor Operacaffe offered anything particularly unique or mindblowingly interesting.(Note: This observation is limited to the menus, not the food itself.) I was won over by Devilicious, who seems to embrace the«foodie twist on a classic» that usually piques my interest and appetite. *Devilicious(my choice), God Save the Cuisine, Underdogs Gastro Truck(very tempting), Calbi, and Operacaffe

Ok, so Ive come a few times and would come every Friday night but I would weigh 500lbs if I did that LOL Positives Good selection of vendors, nice rotation. Always, always great food. A lot of parking on the street. Negatives They still have the old address listed on some sites so I am sure that can cause confusion. Still don’t know how they get the trucks into that tiny space. Not a lot of room to hang out, bring a chair and relax like the old location. Thank you so much for bringing this to La Mesa and supporting it. Its been a great thing to have as an option.

My parents have been raving about this little food truck gathering for months, so I had to check it out while in town for Thanksgiving. The good: There’s a good variety of food represented(BBQ, high-calorie goodness, dessert, etc). The people, both vendors and customers, are super friendly. It’s all very casual, which is great. It was also not very crowded, a big plus! The bad: I would love to see FFF get some more space! The lot where it’s currently held is TINY. There were four trucks there, which filled the space to the max. My dad told me that one of the regular trucks wasn’t there, something that left me wondering if they would have been there had there been room for them. If you’re going to come, I suggest walking, since there’s virtually no parking available. I highly recommend this little spot for a quick dinner on Friday nights. It’s within walking distance for a good portion of La Mesa and very family-friendly. We even took the dog with us! Remember to bring cash(average entrée is about $ 7 – 8, plus sides in some cases).

Loved it! How we didn’t know about this place two years ago I’ll never know. Sure, it was smaller than we were expecting, but there were five gourmet trucks in one place to choose from and that’s pretty damn good. I took a trip to Portland recently and loved their food truck square downtown. When I came back we kept whining about how there was nothing like that here, but we’ve finally found it(or as close to it as possible)! Parking is limited, but it seems like it’s OK to park next door in front of the salon and the other [closed] businesses in that small shopping center. The night we were there it started to rain and just be warned, there isn’t a whole lot of shelter from the rain so bring an umbrella. People were crowded under the food truck awnings, but even then only a lucky few weren’t getting rained on. I also didn’t see too much in the way of seating, so be prepared to eat standing up or take it to go. We ended up eating in the car because of the rain, which wasn’t ideal. All the food trucks had interesting menus. I decided to eat at Devilicious and my husband had Asian Persuasion. Both our food was wonderful(I’m doing a separate review for Devilicious) and we’ll be back again soon. They have a Facebook page that will tell you what trucks to expect on the upcoming Friday and we also noticed the food trucks had a lot of signage for other food truck events in the area. For instance, a big one is taking place this weekend in Escondido and apparently you can find similar food truck parking lots every day of the week at different locations around the county. So fun!

Being a little bit of a foodie, this is one of my favorite spots on Fridays. My fiancé and I have gone a couple times, and have tried a couple trucks. Asian Persuasion and Devilicious are two that I can remember. The food is pretty good, and inventive. During the times that I’ve gone, I’ve noticed that it’s not always the same group of trucks that are there. It’s a good rotation of food; many choices for you to pick from. We tend to each pick a truck and share our food, so that we can survey which one is the best! Good strategy, trust me. It is pricy, but I’ve noticed that you get a good amount of food to chow down on. Parking sucks because you are right on University, which is pretty busy during that time on Friday night. No tables, so pop a squat on the side or eat standing up.

I am glad La Mesa has events like this. La Mesa is getting kind of dare I say«hip»? There were 5 trucks there this past friday. It runs from 5 – 8 pm. There was devilicious, Super Q, an italian one, a british one, and another one that had organic salads, and strawberry stuff. Being vegetarian, I expected for there to be limited choices. The only two things I could eat were basically something cheese filled. Grilled cheese, stuffed fried cheese filled pasta, Parmesan cheese fries… I feel bloated already. I came with Sean Gecko R around 6:30 and it was packed. Its a tiny tiny lot, with 2 small tables for seating. We walked by all the trucks and I wasn’t all that impressed. Few veggie choices like I stated. The only salad available which sounded really good(it had walnuts, strawberries, organic greens) was sold out. So I decided to get the ricotta filled cannaloni from the Italian truck. It was meh ok. It was so cheesy, it had white sauce on top, and came with 4 pieces of bread. The bread was boring like costco bread, and I could tell the pasta was just microwaved. I could have made microwaved this at home. Gecko wasnt so hungry so he got the Parmesan truffle fries. They looked like frozen french fries with shreded unmelted cheese on top. Meh After eating here I felt greesy and gross. Its nice that food trucks are getting popular, especially in my neighborhood, and I would like to support local businesses, but there needs to be more veggie options, that aren’t just cheese, frozen foods, or microwaved. I would like to know that I am spending my money on something handmade and cooked fresh. Especially if I am paying $ 8 for a microwaved pasta dish I could have gotten for half that price at the grocery store. I am going to come next week and hopefully some tastier trucks are there!

This is an excellent way to spend a Friday evening. There were about 5 trucks giving us a nice variety of choices. We had the lobster grilled cheese at Devilicious and the drunken noodle at Thai1on. Both did not disappoint! To top it off I got a free 5 – 10 minute massage from Monica who had a chair set up in front of an acupuncture place next to the trucks. The free massage was extremely relaxing and just what I needed after a long week.

This past weekend, we finally made it out to the La Mesa Food Truck Friday. Little did I know that it was located just a few blocks further down from one of the gyms I frequent. It’s located in a small parking lot. The actual address is 7871 University Ave between Lee Ave and La Mesa Blvd(just past the Riviera Supper Club). The previous location’s address is listed on Unilocal. There were 6 trucks crammed into this small parking lot which formed a «food truck courtyard». Super Q, Bahn Mi on Wheels, Sweet Treats, Devilicious, Eat at Recess, and Asian Persuasion were in attendance. We stuck to Devilicious since I had a Living Social deal on hand.(Review to follow.) It was nice that there were no lines which is wonderful because I get impatient when I’m hungry. Food was ready really quick too after ordering. The people there were a nice mix of families, young couples, and their four legged friends. A party atmosphere was also created by the Eat at Recess’ flat screen TV playing music videos! Unfortunately there is no seating, so just grab a seat on the curb or better yet there is an adjacent building with a nice low lying brick ledge you can sit on. Also easy on the liquids since there isn’t a restroom nearby either. Parking was a cinch too. We found a spot right across the street. And yes they also accept credit cards. We will definitely be back. Fortunately the gym is right down the street! FYI: Every Friday 5pm– 8pm.

I REALLYLOVEFOODTRUCKFRIDAYS! They’re cheap, good and support local independent businesses! It starts at 5 pm and ends at 8 pm. Parking and seating might be a hassle later on, so come early. But, if you can’t, that’s fine. I just prefer to seat in a seat with a table. Utensils and napkins are provided. Bathrooms are not. Accepts ATM and Bills.

The Friday Food Truck Fest is back in a new location(530−830pm), just South of University and La Mesa Blvd, with lots of tasty trucks delivering the gastronomic goods! Has a good vibe, and folks are casual and carefree. Even the kiddies are well behaved here in their LED shoes. Regular Trucks include Devilicious, Sweet Treats, Tabe BBQ, CurioCity, Super Q„ Asian Persuasion. Fun Food Event for La Mesa! Lot’s of nice smells & smiles going on around here! Buzz on by, and you’ll enjoy yourself! An escape from your ordinary, boring life.
