Macho’s Taco Shop

We order out here probably 2x a week. Burritos are a generous size and taste amazing. The female cashiers are friendly and conversational. They also recognize repeat customers and let us know our patronage is appreciated. :)

This place is pretty good. The service is always decent. The food isn’t bad either. I love the ham and cheese breakfast burrito and the steak tacos. Not a big fan of the carnitas. I do enjoy the free chips, salsa and hot carrots while you wait. They have fresh salsa that is soooo good! Not too hot and very flavorful :)

This place has really gone downhill in a the past 10 years. I used to love this place now it’s just nasty, they did something wrong with their food. The meat is nasty now, the tortillas for the burritos smell really weird (not pleasant smell). Last time I went I ordered from my car because I was too lazy to go in. She answers and she puts me on hold because she was taking another customers orders. And I can see inside the whole restaurant from my car, the person is done ordering and 5 people walk in out of nowhere. She takes all their orders and totally forgot about me. I just hung up and went to hilbertos. Also take the ugly ass glass mirros off the wall

I reallllly want to like this place because it’s sooo close to home but this place just sucks. I’ve given this place so many chances and I’m left disappointed each time. The food sucks, the salsa sucks, and the people running the place are so and so.

This place is the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. The carne asada was under cooked, and they are more chunky which is not what carne asada is suppose to be. They usually have complimentary carrots and they were out so I asked the lady at the counter for some carrots, she said they’re available for purchase! Ummmm what? Super rude, I actually would totally pay for it (most place charge) but her antagonistic manner was as not tolerable! Ew

Let me start off by saying: every San Diegan has their go to taco shop. That spot that makes everything just right and leaves you feeling satisfied every time. We thought we had ours until we popped into Machos Tacos just to grab a bite to eat while killing some time. I wish we’d taken a picture but Mr. Dawn’s California burrito was the biggest I’ve ever seen. Being a man that likes to get a bang for his buck he was instantly pleased, but then he bit into it. OMG the meat was tender and so flavorful it knocked our usual taco shop out of the running. Now, I don’t eat beef or pork so my taco shop selections can be pretty limited. My usual shop doesn’t sell chicken rolled tacos so when I saw them on the menu I had to go for it. And once again OMG! They do not use that dry flavorless shredded chicken that most taco shop use. The meat was juicy and so tasty that I barely wanted to put salsa on it. But then I tasted the salsa and it was a must. My only complaint is the cleanliness of their salsa area. It could have used some tidying up. Without a doubt Machos Tacos is a taco shop to be reckoned with.

Not to many places make a custom order breakfast burrito. Came in for the first time to try it and Bam. We can do it for you! My kind of place.

Haven’t been here in a while, but coming back was a great idea. Fresh food, good service! Love it here… And I love how they have a picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Food used to be better. I think when meat prices went up they choose to go will a lesser grade than raise prices.

Fish tacos taste like fish sticks, carne asana fries were ok but barely any meat, bean and cheese burrito was pretty good, rolled tacos are okay but how do you screw those up? Tortillas taste store bought, they probably are. I won’t eat here again. I would have given it 2 stars but the salsa bar was good and the lady was polite.

Really annoyed. Just ordered the nachos supreme. Asked what came on it. I asked if NACHO cheese came on it. The lady says yes. I then asked if it could be on the side so my chips won’t get wet on the drive home. Come to find out it’s not nacho cheese. It’s cheddar. And now I only have dry chips with meat and sour cream. I’m mad. I don’t even want to eat this. But it will cost more money in gas to drive back and return my food. Sucks I was a first time customer

Been coming here since I was a little boy with my family. Food is always on point. For those complaining about customer service, well it’s a taco shop guys, geez. Anyhow can’t wait to move back to the valley for some bomb tostadas de camarones y quesadillas.

Excellent service, great tacos. Free chips and salsa. What more could you ask for?! ⁵⁄₅

First time here. Asked a guy in line what he usually gets he said Carne Asada w/​guac after his workout at 24hr. I bet a ton of people come here after the gym. So I went with the usual California Burrito but with gauc x 2 to bring back to hubby. Something about their fries, wow, crispy and delicious. There was a rush of people after me so that’s a sign it’s legit and delicious. The lady at the counter was working very hard ringing up orders packaging the food and yelling out orders.

I’ve been coming here for years and the food is really good and decently priced. You get free chips and hot carrots while you wait (which is always a plus).
The only reason I’m giving them a 4 instead of a 5 is because I find that the customer service and cleanness is subpar. I’ve come here for about 10 years on and off and it seems that they have not upgraded anything since and sometimes the attitudes from the cashiers is unneeded.

Just finished eating lunch here. I was excited to try it as I now work in the area and eat lunch out occasionally. Asked for a take out menu so my lunch crew could phone our order in ahead of time, but they don’t have one. The food was good. I had a bean tostada (yummy), beef taco (a bit greasy but good). I dined in and liked that they have a complimentary chips and salsa bar.
My big complaint was the drinks. I paid $ 1.69 for a medium soda. I noticed someone went up for a refill and they got it for free. I went up a little later for a refill and the lady behind the counter wanted to charge me .85 for it. Very bad customer service in my opinion. I’m dining in, have more food left, and she can’t give me a free refill. Not good.
Anyway, there are other places to choose from in this strip mall and I’ll be going there next.

I have been at this pace 3 times so far. Their food is good, and they have a great location. But customer service is the worse, when I order that girl act like she s doing me a favor, I have never seen a smile at this place.
Third time I went in with my friends at 8:20, 40 minutes before they close, no one there, we keep saying hello anyone here, no one answers. We decide to leave suddenly we look back we see 2 guys laughing and looking at us. We looked at them straight on the face they were still looking and laughing.
Neither me or any of my friends are gonna put a step into this place anymore, until we make sure the service is changed.
I work in food industry and I know that we don’t close the doors and we accept any customer with a smile until last second before we close. If this place had a better customer service they would be the best in the area.

This taco shop is unbelievably good. It’s so good I drive all the way from the bottom of avocado to get to it. and probably pass by 3 other taco shops in the process. What ever you’re feeling, breakfast burrito, carne asada, tiny pastor street tacos, they’ve got it down. their salsa is bomb too. check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

I know, I know, it’s been said in many other reviews. But hash brown breakfast burrito is worth repeating! I’m a sucker for all things taco/​burrito, but no form of taco or burrito is better to me than breakfast. Add hash browns instead of your normal boring potato and BOOM! Mind blown.
My husband also got several other kinds of non breakfast tacos that he was very happy with. They were also so big, and with double tortillas, that he was able to make two tacos out of every single one he got. Good food for great value.
