Here’s the deal — the quality of your experience at this place depends, 100%, on which person waits on you. The wine is fine. I’ve bought bottles each time we have gone in. It is affordable, drinkable, and local(to me) which I like. The music is so-so. The bands I’ve seen have been okay. I would probably stay and listen to a band of that quality for a while if I knew the band or the staff were nicer. The facility is cramped. The main tasting room has 9 bar seats and two 3-tops, and that is the only place they will let you sit for tasting. There’s a lounge with couches(it’s sort of new-age-y) and then the stage room in the back with about half a dozen 4-seat tables. If they would let you walk back and forth from the music with your tasting, it would be fine, but you are jammed into the front room for tasting and it is crazy crowded. The real complaint is with the staff though. Of the times I’ve been, there were 3 staffers. Two were wonderfully pleasant, and perfectly sufficient for a retail strip tasting room. The third(who happens to be a middle aged woman, so you can avoid her), is a total b**** who was a) super rude when she interacted with us, b) wasn’t any more knowledgeable than anyone else, and c) basically ignored us anytime anyone else was within earshot, even though we were buying wine. Sadly, I’m pretty sure she’s the owner(or a partner, anyway), so I can’t expect them to replace her. We’ll be back — and avoiding the rude staff.

Best urban winery I have ever visited. Wine is great and the people are even better. You know you are at home when you visit San Pasquale

I came by San Pasqual Winery with an alumni group. The event allowed for us to raise money for charity while also indulging in the many options this tasting room has to offer. As an urban winery, San Pasqual purchases all of their grapes from growers in California and most are from the San Diego area. The wine production is done nearby the tasting room. Our group had the back room to ourselves, and were able to try a bunch of different wines. The sparkling wine, «Toast of the Town» Blanc de Blancs, was probably one of my favorites. I tried both the 2014 and 2015 San Diego Chardonnay. I prefered the 2015 as it was on par with the buttery chardonnay you would find in Napa. If you like bolder reds, you’ll have plenty of great options here including a tempranillo, cabernet sauvignon, and a malbec. Another one of my favorites was the sangria. My friend commented that it «tasted like Christmas.» It was like a cold mulled wine. Apparently they do heat it up around Christmas as more of a mulled wine. If you’re a port drinker, San Pasqual also has a port wine. This winery is perfect for groups since everyone will find something they like here. The staff is wonderful, and everyone was welcoming and friendly.

Love love love this place! The wine is delicious, the atmosphere charming and casual, and all that work there, treat you like a friend … like family. I joined their wine club on my first visit about a year ago and make a point to enjoy a glass of wine there at least once a week.

Always an enjoyable experience. Wine is personal, some you love, some you like and some you spit out. Usually when I come here there is a somewhat younger man behind the counter and he is always personable and knowledgeable, two things that are vital in a tasting room. My friends and I never feel rushed, nibble on some cheese and crackers and just enjoy the wonderful atmosphere. Check them out and take some wine home, you’re bound to find something you’ll love!

We are members at several wine clubs along central coast and northern California, so came in with some experience and thus, expectations for the wine and the winery. Not as familiar with the concept of «urban winery», but it was explained that they do not grow their own grapes, but source throughout California, and yes, San Diego as well. Many wineries do this. The gentleman that worked at the tasting room downtown was helpful, relatively knowledgeable about the wines, the growing areas and the winemaking process; was congenial and created an enjoyable and relaxing experience for the afternoon. I truly hate the«fee for service» concept for areas in my life that I love(wine, yoga) so am willing to pay a premium to avoid considering the cost of each item(a glass of wine, a taste on a Saturday afternoon, etc.). Spoiled much?! Thus, my affliction for joining wine clubs Yep, we are now proud wine club members! It helps that we are walkable to the tasting room, of course. Now, I cannot say that this wine club is what we are used to, so more on that as time progresses. I can say that I was impressed with some of the wines, neutral about most, and only a few I disliked. They have an overwhelming lineup of options, which I was concerned with initially(like those Chinese restaurants that also make hamburgers and crepes?), but I would suggest giving them a shot and focusing your efforts on the offerings that you prefer. The Merlot, Rose, Tempranillo and sparkling were all very enjoyable(and purchased). See you soon!

We visited this tasting room last night, I believe it was my third visit. I’m not sure if it’s just a «Hit n miss» thing but we can’t seem to arive on the, «hit» time! We just DON’T care for the wine.. I guess in their defence, we should do a tasting first. I do love the tasting room itself, its very sweet and welcoming. We also really enjoyed the music in the back. Two very talent men, playing great oldies of our time. I would go back just to hear them again. .:) Two stars for the ambience in good music!

I’ve enjoyed San Pasqual’s wines quite a bit the last few months,(though many of their reds have a pretty peppery kick) and also just tried their Passionfruit Wines(the one with habanero is out there and a must try!). I’ve always gone to the actual«cellar» /the production center on Center Street but as they were closed yesterday I went to the tasting room in downtown La Mesa instead. What a lovely atmosphere! It is so festive, warm and cute and has the feel of a Cheers type bar where«everyone knows your name» as we quickly made friends with all the other patrons and, Ryan, the employee(hesitant to call him the bartender since he seems to do so many different things for this company!). The wines, as usual, were a delight. Good wine, good company, warm atmosphere — that’s the way to get 5 stars in my book!

I’m a huge fan of this place, the staff is always knowladgable and gives everyone great customer service. We stopped in on friday night and met the winemaker Linda and her husband Mike. They run a great business, We love all their wines, especially the reds! Brenda is the event coordinator and she is always professional and very helpful when you book an event at their facility. It is always a pleasure to stop in at this establishment.

This is the best wine made in San Diego county. Winemakers, well winemaker and her husband are classy and make excellent wines with many Southern California varieties. I like going by for tastings and picking up five or six bottles!

I love this place! I’m always so excited for the pick up parties. The wine is spectacular. The people are very personable and take the time to talk about the different wines. I always feel welcome in this establishment.

Cute little tasting room/gallery in downtown La Mesa. They have a variety of wines to taste from. They have an assortment of reds, whites and dessert wines as well as passion fruit wine– which i think may be their speciality. I suggest you try their Sangria as well as all of their passion fruit wines, extremely delicious and not as sweet as you would think. Each tasting flight offers you $ 5 off any bottle of wine you purchase. They also offer cute wine knick knacks and snacks. Very friendly staff. The guy that was working told me they have live music every week as well and host paint nites. Definitely a must see place when in La Mesa, they also have other locations as well– and a new tasting room in Seaport Village.

I loved their selections and Barbara was great. I wasn’t a big fan of the habanero wine, too sweet for me, but I can see why some people like it. I wish they had some good selections of snacks to go with their wine. They had store bought boursin, hummus and wheel of brie(each needs to be purchased separately). Good place to meet people and chat. they also have live music on Saturday night which was nice touch!

This is a really nice little tasting room in downtown La Mesa. I was surprised by both the space itself and the wine. Not normally a fan of flavored wines, we really appreciated the dry passionfruit flavored wine, it is delicious, not particularly expensive and of an unexpectedly good quality.

Mah… I have totally had better wine. The only thing was the lady doing the pouring, she was fun to talk to. Thankfully we got a groupon for this, and did it after golfing up the road from here. The prices are not worth it for me. I am not a wine snob or really know wines too well. But I know taste and the depth of taste when it comes to wine. The one really good thing I did try was their sangria mix package. It was tasty, but then again, most sangria is. I would say to try it for yourself for sure. I just feel like the area is for a bit older crowd. At least this tasting room was.

This is the second time I’ve had the opportunity to try San Pasqual wines, and I’m still very impressed. The la mesa tasting room is located on the main drag of stores. Parking is diagonal street parking, but that wasn’t an issue during the day on a Sunday. The employees were super super nice. They allowed my poodle and I to sit inside as they do not serve food. You can buy some crackers and cheese and dessert, but it’s not prepared here. They were very intent on making sure I had a good experience. The grapefruit wines were definitely too sweet for me, and the man serving me offered some champagne to offset the sweetness. I will definitely return for a bottle while dining nearby.

My mother and I wandered into this little shop so quaint and cute in down town La mesa. Wanted to see what it was all about. We came in about an hour before closing and my mother wanted to know what their membership included. We decided to start with two tastings. It included 6 choices off the menu and they recomend to follow the order in which they are listed. Long story short by the end of the tasting we did not need dinner. We tried the smoked brie cheese and crackers; I normally despise brie but I loved this smoked one. Most of my tastings consisted of sweeter wines, with a dessert peach wine that was paired with a raspberry white chocolate three layer cake. The service was lovely. The lady who poured our glasses as well as the gentelman who helped grab a couple of the bottles we took home were both so kind and never rushed us. We finished the last glass and paperwork for the membership 5 mins past closing. The price for 5 bottles of wine two tastings and both food items was less than I would have ever imagined. **Quick tip: when one person opts into the membership club they can add a certian number of people onto their membership to also receive the benefits and monthly pricing.

I go here always every week. I always do the tasting because they have a lot of good wines. I always start with white, then red, and always get the blanc, habanero and end with Sangria. It’s a cute place, nice to go with friends or even alone. people are very friendly. They also have paint and wine events which I have yet to try.
