Fresh and tasty food, friendly staff, and convenient location! Love this place. There is ok entry to choose from on the menu. I called in an order and it was ready on time. Seamless ordering process. Plenty of parking because it’s a shopping center. Will return soon!

Loved this place… We always go to a new place and u always find that one sushi roll that u didn’t like… We tried 8 different rolls and they were all good we couldn’t find that one… Our favorites were sin city, the mango one and the exorcist… Will be coming here happy hr is great pricing and even though it was packed the service was super fat…

Went for lunch 1/20, called in a pick up order for two rolls, place looked nice when I went in. The server that have me my book and food was pleasant enough. The food looked very nice even though in a Styrofoam box and tasted even better! Had the Kamikaze roll and Crispy Top roll and each had a distinct flavor separate from each other that some places lose once they get going, everything with the same sauce and toppings. Looking forward to going there with the wife for dinner soon.

My brother and I decided to try to this place out and it was one of the best sushi places we have ever been to! The food was great and our server Bianca gave us really good recommendations! We will definitely be back. Great service and sushi. Thank you

Me and my 3 friends got food poisoning from this place with the sushi being gross and soggy for one of the rolls. Not too mention our girl server never smiled.

This is not our first visit! We haven’t covered their entire menu and what we have had is fantastic! We ordered off the lunch specials and were so full from the large proportions we missed desert. Sushi is wonderfully fresh, not overweighted with rice and the special sauces… yummmmmm!

Tappi Sushi? More like tap out sushi. As in no more ever again. The speciality sushi rolls looked like they were trying so hard to be original. Ordered the La Mesa roll, lemon drop roll, and kamakazi roll. All were made on the small side and had 8 pieces. The lemon rinds were thinly sliced and were meant to be eaten but it was way too sour. The lemon drop roll was easily broken and wasn’t rolled/wrapped tightly enough. Who wants to eat broken sushi rolls? The kamakazi roll was super spicy with the jalapeño slices. I recommend eating that last so you can taste the rest of your food. The ginger wasn’t even fresh. $ 36.98 down the drain for 3 small rolls. Maybe my expectations were set on normal or high for this place but unfortunately it all came up short. Even the call in order was unprofessional by answering the phone giggling and not hearing what I said, I then had to repeat my questions to the girl on the phone. Overall, the rolls were bland, the seafood didn’t seem fresh enough, and it was way too spicy. I would not recommend this place for sushi dinner.

Second time around for this place and eh, not quite a fan but not exactly turned away either. The first time I had a noodle dish and it was lacking in flavor big time. I asked for it to be spicy and they must’ve thought I said no spicy. This time, got the ahi poke salad, inferno roll and the teriyaki chicken. They asked if I wanted the inferno roll spicy. My response was«make it as spicy as possible». I think there is a miscommunication because again, it had less than average amount of spice. Maybe I need to quantify the scale something like Caucasian to Cajun. The salad was delicious with just the right amount of sea salt. As I waited for my to go order the waitress offered me a glass of water. That was service you don’t see too often. There are so many things to try on the menu and they have a large selection of beer and wine. With that said, I’ll give it another try.

Tappi has really improved! The food is so good and the prices are not bad! Make sure to check it out during happy hour too! The service has really gotten better, Belen is one of my favorite servers! She’s awesome!

I just happened to walk into this place not knowing what to expect and Wow! Chicken teriyaki was bomb! Chicken was clean, no fat and sauce was amazing! Crunchy roll was great too! I definitely recommend this place!

The sushi was fine– except for the fact that they completely forgot the main ingridient of the roll which was the shrimp, and contrary to what they tell you, the crab was obviously fake. The tempura was without a doubt the worst I’ve had. The ahi roll included what they called crunchy onions which turned out to be giant slabs of soggy, fried onion. I dont think I’ll be coming back.

I’ve ordered to-go from this place a few times. They are always very quick to whip It up for me and usually have it ready in 20 Mins. They don’t have a HUGE selection of specialty rolls, which are my favorite, but they are pretty good. Kinda highly priced, but the food is pretty good and I really love their Double Trouble roll.

Great service! There was no wait and very clean spot. Before we finished our appetizer the rolls started coming to us. Our waitress was very nice and attentive as well as the rest of the staff. Let us do you a favor and guarantee you an amazing meal and a happy belly.

Happy hour(2:30 to 6:30) is ok BUT it takes 25 mins to get your food. Why? It was only one person there then 2 people entered. A total of 4 customers. It took to long to get my food and my lunch was 30 mins. Smh I had to get a box to go and the guys behind counter questioned why. Smh! If you get my food out faster if would help me so much. I couldn’t eat until I was off and sushi was ok. My fireball was awesome the one piece I ate walking back to work. Ugh

We ordered Chicken Katsu, Beef Terriyaki, a Bolts roll, and a California roll. — Chicken Katsu: no flavor, too thick of a cut, breading was soggy in some parts and overcooked in others, it also wasn’t sticking to the chicken breast. Probably the worst Katsu I’ve tasted. The sauce was NOT traditional Katsu sauce. It was gross, too. — Beef terriyaki: ok what? No. Just no. The sauce was NOT terriyaki but this weird overly sweet, salty liquid. The beef was mostly fat and cut up with cabbage(i think). The rice was gross. Inedible. The miso soup that came with this plate was also prepared wrong… not sure how they managed that one. –Bolts Roll: mediocre. Rice was all wrong, tasted like the rice in that pre-packaged sushi you buy at a grocery. Fish was not bad but did not taste fresh. The ponzu sauce was off. –California roll: decent. I am glad we tried this place but we will not be returning. If you want high quality and delicious sushi, try Hana Sushi in El Cajon down Jamacha. Our experience here has just made us appreciate Hana so much more. This was a complete waste of $ 43 as we couldn’t even eat what we purchased.

My wife and I dropped in this place for lunch one day and we weren’t real impressed. Probably bc we have high standards with sushi with the big variety here in sd. Anyways, the woman that served us was very friendly but the rolls were just so so. They really didn’t have that great of lunch specials either. During the lunch hour I don’t know about you but I’m hoping to save a little bit if possible. I think we still spent about 40. If u live a stones throw from this place check em out. I wouldn’t drive a great distance though. I’m all sushi deli baby. mmm.

The quality of sushi here is good! You won’t find any authentic Japanese chefs… but the stuff here is legit. This place is located in the corner in the center with Vons off of Avocado. I’m not a huge sushi fanatic… but it’s nice to know that there’s somewhere local that’s good and somewhat affordable. I’ve been here twice so far and had a great experience both times. They were able to seat 2 quickly or a large table of 8 just as fast. Their menu is good, lots of options. I’ve had the edamame, pork gyoza, California Roll, and the shrimp tempura roll… all made really well! I definitely left satisfied and a full stomach. Drink menu is awesome too!

The ambiance was nice and cozy, with a sushi bar and many tables available. There seemed to be only one server, the clear reason why service was lacking this particular evening. I love sushi, all sushi. I thought the specialty rolls were delicious! We had the La Mesa, the Padres, the Flying Dragon, and the Exorcist. The server was sweet, but she forgot our app of Edamame. I’d go back to give it another try.

Nestled in the somewhat often overlooked Von’s shopping center just off of Avocado and the 94 you will find the glazed out windows of Tappi. As you enter the not-main-door to the left of the main doors(where you will find a simple ink-jet printed sign pointing the way) you look over a vast seating area, high and low bar, with a dimly lit dining area taken over by the bright lights of the exposed kitchen in the back. Our waitress was very kind and took our drink order promptly. This, however, would be the first of several orders that took way to long to come to the table, if at all. I started off a Sapporo and water(I got the Sapporo) while I read through the menu and happy hour offerings. The Sapporo was from the tap and presented in a nicely chilled glass. I ordered a beginning of Edamame(which never arrived and was cancelled by me half way through our meal) and a total of five rolls. The texture of each roll was very good with only one bite being stringy, while the tastes ranged from bland to amazing. Ranking top on the list was the Flying Dragon Roll. This eel covered roll had amazing texture and taste. A sweet sauce presented on the plate beneath the roll offered a bit of zing needed to bring out all of the amazing flavors. Number 2 was the Padres Roll. With the highest price point it offered flavor that was present but not stunning. Followed with the La Mesa and Exorcist rolls that continued to topple to bland and boring. The spicy crab roll was basic. No frills. Just what you would expect for fake crab and rice. Over all the place was not mind blowing nor boring — It is a nice local place to grab some sushi if I have some shopping to do in the area or don’t want to drive another mile down the road to another sushi eatery. Unfortunately my high expectations came in at just«A-OK.»
