We were seated in the outdoor courtyard and we saw RATS running around out there. Not one, not two, but THREE. And they weren’t afraid of us either, which means they’ve been living there for a while. When I complained to the manager, he told me that this was the French Quarter and that this is just the way it is. He called them«French Quarter Kittens»…gross. Avoid this place completely…

This place was acceptable, but not great. We used the Unilocal offer to get a free appetizer by checking in. Ordered the crawfish bread and when it came out I didn’t know what to think of it. After tasting it, I’m pretty sure they just poured their spinach artichoke dip over some slices of bread and tossed in a few crawfish tails. I ordered the Taste of New Orleans for my entrée — with crawfish étouffée, jambalaya and gumbo. The jambalaya was good but seemed more like dirty rice. The étouffée was bland and watery. The gumbo had ok flavor but was a weird grayish color and not the flavorful dark roux I was looking for. Our server was nice but not very attentive. The hostess took our drink and food orders since our server was late to assist us. She said she was busy putting on her Mardi Gras themed eyeshadow. Nice that they offer a free appetizer with a Unilocal check in. But that’s the only good thing. Food is not good enough to come back.

Had a reservation at K-Paul’s but didn’t feel the menu was grabbing us for the price tag. We started searching Unilocal and came upon this place. The menu had just what we were looking for, i.e. in my husband’s ever desire for fried food(which I won’t let him eat at home) he had the crawfish platter. I had crawfish stuffed fish – both were delicious. More importantly our server, Ishmail, was awesome… attentive, informative and handsome. Great choice for dinner on our part!

We wanted a drink and a meal and this place satisfied. I started off with the duck empanadas $ 10 They were a bit gamey. I’d love to try something different next time. Next I tried a Taste of New Orleans with 4 things : Red beans and rice Crawfish étouffée Jumbelaya Gumbo They were all ok. I was glad to try a bit of everything. The waitstaff was very friendly and the setting is intimated

Stopped by a couple of weeks ago solely because we walked out of another place after we placed our order due to indescribably bad service … so we didn’t have any expectations. Gimme a glass of wine & get outta my way, was the totality of our mindset. So glad we did! We started in the bar and once we calmed down after our bad experience at the other place, decided to have dinner. Too bad the courtyard wasn’t open because it is beautiful. I had a fabulous fish po’boy and my friend had gumbo. She gets the gumbo everywhere in NOLA, so for her to really rave was high marks. Other than the bartender, who looked and sounded as if we were really an intrusion on her evening, the service was terrific. Knowledgeable, attentive but not intrusive, responsive and charming. Highly recommended.

We stumbled onto the Chartres House purely by accident. We were heading to another restaurant for lunch highly recommended on Unilocal but it turned out to be a carry out only. Then my phone died and we were Unilocalless and on our own. The Cashew Crusted Redfish and Crawfish Pasta Estrellita are must order dishes.

I am not well versed in New Orleans cuisine but it was all very good. The muffaletta was full of flavor, good crispy fries, and decent beer selection. The staff was very friendly as well :)

I had the french fries and a bloody mary. It was divine. Nothing else like it. I’m finally ready to die.

This place was pretty good. Everyone was able to find something they wanted to eat. Service was ok. Drinks were pretty good. It really wasn’t anything to write home about. There’s fancier, better, more local places to go to for a good meal.

Went here randomly during our first night in New Orleans during our first time visiting. Great overall restaurant with good service and fresh food. Portion sizes were reasonable to the price.

Had lunch here with my wife on Saturday. The food was absolutely fantastic. Like most places near downtown however, the service was pretty slow and a bit pricey. The hot sausage sandwich is a must get! They also have a wide array of beers. This will be a regular stop when we are in the area.

Took a while to get seated but the hostess apologized. The waiter didn’t know if I could pick my own drafts for a beer flight because he was new, understandable I guess. The large group near us were soooo loud we were glad to leave. The food is good. Try the hot sausage poboy and some gator.

Atmosphere: Service was ok. We sat in the central courtyard and watched RATS run around throughout our entire meal. Every couple of mins we saw another RAT run between the service kitchen and restaurant. Food: I had the house burger with sausage patty(sausage patty was bomb!) and we ordered the artichoke crawfish bread. I definitely recommend this appetizer.

Visited New Orleans in the summer of 2015, stopped to eat here. After having a hand grenade I was feeling a little loopy lol. I just happened to order a dish I would never forget, the Blackened Cajun Alfredo Chicken. Sadly I didn’t pay attention to the name of the restaurant but thanks to Unilocal I’ve found it. Can’t wait to come here again!

It says fresh seafood proudly on their front door HOWEVER, I know SYSCO shrimp when I see it. The best part about this spot was the employees. The door guy was awesome. young black guy with a super awesome attitude. The taste of New Orleans was extremely disappointing. 4 ½ filled cups of uninspired cooking. I don’t recommend at all!

The crawfish stuffed fish is probably the best entrée I’ve had at any restaurant ever! I come back here every time I’m in town. Always very attentive service as well. Great Job!

A nice place to sit and eat New Orleans favorite dishes and not so bad with prices, either! I remember the first time I ate here. I was walking down Chartres wondering what I was going to have for early dinner before a night of partying and the doorman got my attention and as much as I dislike that kind of thing, I decided to give it a shot and I’ve been coming here ever since. I’ve been a local vacationer all my life and when we get rooms in the quarter so we don’t have to drive across the lake at night, we often come eat here. I’ve come here during the day, at night, by myself, with a date, with large groups and always remember having a very pleasant experience with the staff, atmosphere and the food. During the winter months, they even have the fireplace lit(it’s gas I believe, though, but still, a nice hearth warms the heart), and I like to sit right there, if it’s available, watching the street and soaking in the sights. They usually have a few local favorite brews on tap and of course, there’s a full bar. Now, as far as the food goes, I only ever get ONE thing. Their crawfish étouffée is on point, and I DO recommend you top it with those fried crawfish tails. I always get that étouffée because it’s good here and I LOVE étouffée. I’ve had the duck empanadas and they were good too. Their gumbo is also delicious from what I remember, and whenever I take a friend from out of town to dine in the quarter, Chartres House is the FIRST place on the list. This place isn’t the absolute, hands down BESTPLACEOMGEVER to eat, but when you’re down there and you would like to sit down in a nice place and have a nice meal, you should definitely check it out.

UMMMMM The best Oyster Poor Boy of my life!!! I took it back home on the plane with me. If I died today and came back as a oyster, I aspire to be on a sandwich at Chartres House!!! lolll. I also had the Crawfish Étouffée with the fried crawfish tails on top. Jeezus save my waistline. It was so good I had a food-gasm at the table. All my daily calorie points flashed before my eyes and I took a deep sigh like Whitney Houston in the movie Waiting to Exhale. The étouffée left me trembling; it was that damn good. My only regret was not getting engaged to the chef. Yes, go here!!!

Came here about 45 minutes before this place closed and sat at the bar. The bartender was super chill and drink prices aren’t too bad. We stayed until a little past closing time, but the bartender didn’t even try to kick us out. Didn’t try any of their food so I can’t comment on the food. The place was pretty empty by this point; there were only a couple other customers in the restaurant. It seems like this would be a nice place to hang out if I had come here earlier.

We came across Chartres House while walking around the French quarter and came in. We were sat on the outdoor balcony upstairs by a really nice hostess. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer and O M G. AMAZING!!! They give you the dip with crunchy bow tie pasta, I could of ate just those with out the spinach artichoke. For my lunch I got the blackened chicken sandwich and it came with a side of fries. The sandwich was great, and the fries were also really good. The server was really nice, but the service wasn’t too good. He only came to our tablets take our order, bring our food, and than bring the check. So we couldn’t order another drink or anything else we wanted. They definitely have the best spinach artichoke I’ve ever eaten, and the food in general was great. If I’m ever back in The French quarter I will come back here.
