A great little gallery, with dog prints. So of course Sweetie and I had to go. On a street full of galleries, this was our favorite. The proprietor was very friendly, there’s a good selection and price range, and it’s just a fun place to stop in.

This is an art gallery. I don’t like animal paintings, I don’t even think these are that good. The gallery is clean, and you can bring your snotty little dog that never has to walk on its own because you carry it with you. Maybe its a good stop if you want to pay a whole bunch of money for a dog picture. PS. Its nasty to take dogs to bars. Some of us are allergic to animals and don’t want them near us when we are drinking.

I saw Swamp Dog while wandering around the French Quarter. Her lovely Weim looks like a Great Dane so I stalked them for days until I found them open. The photos are lovely, the stories are great. They have a book with the dogs of Nola in famous bars which I eagerly anticipate.

Stopped in on a recent visit to the French Quarter while in town. My husband and I are dog owners and love anything dog related. This place is a TREAT to visit. If you aren’t smiling and/or laughing while visiting, you have no heart. The photos being sold are wonderful prints of dogs around New Orleans posed in funny positions. Example: dog sitting at a bar with a beer. It takes a very talented and patient photographer to take such awesome photos! They sell prints that are already framed in great, vintage looking frames or smaller prints as is. The framed prints were pricey but would make such a great and unique gift for the dog lover in your life. Also, they don’t allow you to take photos of the prints in their store. Which makes complete sense. Plus a photo of a photo doesn’t do these pictures justice. I highly recommend if you have money to spend and want something unique that will be a conversation starter.

Swamp Dog and Friends has become a routine stop for me on my visits to New Orleans. The photographer does such a great job of capturing dogs around the city in very distinct NOLA scenery, providing an awesome piece of artwork with a sense of humor. I have two prints from Swamp Dog, and the first I got about a year and a half ago and get compliments on it all the time. My most recent purchase has a pup that resembles my childhood dog Jazz. She has since passed on, but the print I picked has the dog gazing up at a stone angel statue. Needless to say, this print tugged at my heart strings and I knew I had to have it. On the last visit, I also picked up a print for my mom for Mother’s Day. She absolutely loved it, and I promised to take her to the shop if we make it back to New Orleans together in the future! Forget the NOLA tee shirts and shot glasses, if you want a real souvenir of the city come here… beautiful photography and wonderful business owners!

The most unique photo/print shop in the quarter. Back story: after Katrina a dog was found and his origins were unknown. Fast forward a bit… owner and some photographers were out doing a shoot and he jumps into a canoe and a photo of what started it all began. From what I understand, many of the photos in the swamp are of structures that are no longer there. I purchased a piece of a chapel — you can only see half of it. I was told that the other half was decayed and gone due to Katrina and it is no longer there. That particular piece actually is one of the few that does not have a dog in it. Lots of different scenes — from serious, to quirky, and humorous with lots of French Quarter backdrops too. So many breeds represented that you’ll definitely find one that reminds you of your pooch! Stop in. Get something besides a few beads. I’m sure he’ll only ask you to swipe your card or fork over some cash.

Great dog photo artwork. Different types of pieces to appeal to the unique dog lovers that coalesce in the French Quarter. They also have a website where you can make your purchases because they are closed a couple of days a week. Unfortunately, on the day I went it was closed so I’ll be ordering my piece online. A definite must for the dog lover because it’s a way to incorporate your four-legged pal into New Orleans and bring some of those French Quarter memories home with you from the perspective of your canine.
