This place is so awesome! I had their wieners with potato salad and sauerkraut. It was delicious. It definitely looks like a mom and pop place but they do their best to take care of you. I just with they had more! We’ll be back for lunch though in the future :)

This place is awesome! Best smoked beef sandwich ever! Don’t forget the snitzel and meatloaf on Wednesdays!!! Great staff too!

This place is fantastic. While the selection may not be huge, their sausage platter is out-of-this-world good! The potato salad and sauerkraut are some the best I’ve ever had. The majority of their sausages are made fresh in Seattle. The couple working there when I went were both friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be going back.

Oskar’s has new ownership and the prices went up a fair amount while the quality seems to have slid a little(and the liverwurst sandwich had less liverwurst). I also wasn’t able to get those weird Eastern European beers that the last lady kept around. She also would get some high end interesting German beers. She even gave me Smoked German beer once because she wanted me to get to try it. I’m sad that I’m blanking on her name but she sure was good. In any case, Oskar’s isn’t what it used to be. However, I’ll go again in a couple of months and see if the new ownership can hit its stride.

My lunch cost me over $ 10 — a ham & swiss on whole wheat with a side of potato salad. It was not worth the price. The ham was black forest ham and it was so chewy I had to throw it away(I think it was petrified). Potato salad was average. I will not go back.

My wife and I are regulars in this shop. We love it, as I grew up in Germany, it’s great to taste«good ol’ Germany» from time to time. I cannot account for their diner, but for their grocery and deli products. The quality of the meats, is outstanding, though locally produce, it hits the spot where it has to be, in order to be considered good old German food. The shop owners are very friendly and always take their time for a word with you, which I like a lot. Though a bit pricey, its well worth the money spend for this quality.

Oskar’s is amazing. One of my favorite places for a nice lunch. $ 6.95 special, lord yes. Best damn potato salad I have ever had with one of the most flavorful homemade krauts I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. They also have an excellent selection of Italian sodas in the drink case. I never skip a raspberry soda with my lunch. At this point, they often don’t even ask me to pick out my drink anymore and just walk over and grab one for me as soon as they see my face. :) Goes perfect with that delicious mustard, dense bread, and juicy brat. As for the people who are saying they are rude… man up, you sniveling hipsters. I have never ONCE been treated poorly by these people, although they are a bit more open and honest than I think most spoiled special snowflakes are used to. As a matter of fact, I frequently have very nice conversations with the nice old lady behind the counter as well as the middle-aged woman who usually rings me up. Never once have they been rude to me, but always rather frank(no pun intended) and speak at a good clip. I think some of these people are just soft fruit that are easily bruised. They use the same plates my Mammo has, so it really completes the experience for me. :) I absolutely could not recommend them more highly. They have made believers out of my non-Teutonic friends.

I go here once or twice a year when visiting relatives in Lacey/Olympia, and I buy several pounds of Brats to cook at home every year as part of Xmas eve dinner. The brats and other sausages and meats are excellent, and the other fresh Germanic items(breads, pretzels, pastries, etc.) are also excellent. The last two years I’ve found much less on their wall of grocery shelving – German mustards, curry ketchup, etc. They say that the stuff sells out everytime it comes in, but I wonder if they’re just reluctant to stock the shelves with the dollar so weak in those same years. The prices would be quite high. This place will give you excellent sit-down sausage lunches and sandwiches, great potato salad, etc. They don’t have the equipment to do more restaurant-style dishes, like Schnitzels or Rouladen. But for what they offer, they’re top notch!

It’s one thing to have rude employees or a poor selection, but it’s an entirely separate issue when employees flagrantly disobey basic food handling etiquette. When I ordered Broetchen this morning, the woman at the front stopped slicing the cold cut meat and, without washing her hands or using any wax paper, grabbed the rolls from under the counter with her bare hands and dropped them in the bag. Disgusted, we asked her to use tissue paper. She ignored that request as if she didn’t hear it. We paid with cash, she returned our change and immediately went back to man handling the meat for another customer, WITHOUT washing her hands! Shocked. Disgusted. I will not return to Oskar’s. I sincerely hope you’ll avoid Oskar’s, too, at least until they turn things around. Go to Hess in Lakewood instead.

This is my favorite place to eat in Lacey, the people are friendly and the food is outstanding. I’m a college student and here I can get a hearty filling lunch, from a kind loving woman at a very reasonable price. Outstanding.

Y’know… this place used to be decent. I went back after having a bad experience a few years ago to find their shelves nearly empty, the owner talking to someone in the back and me standing at the register with my items in hand. Finally the man working there turned to me and acted as if I was bothering both of them. Rude service, way overpriced items and lack of variety = never again. Will go to Hess in Lakewood.

«All hungry men, wherever they may live, are customer’s of Oskar’s, and, therefore, as a hungry man, I take pride in the words ‘Ich bin ein Berliner!’» …or something like that. Hey, this is good German food(I think it’s the only German food around), but come early as seating is limited.

Willokmen Meine Spargle! Okay you’re not asparagus and I’m not German, but this place is great. A little slice of Germany in our own backyard. As you walk in you get the feeling that you have just walked into your German grandmother’s kitchen, their service is friendly and very knowledgeable. They serve sandwiches which I’m sure are good, but I just can’t get myself to order anything but the One Meat lunch. You have a choice of the best Knackwurst, Bockwurst, Bratwurst, or Wiener in town, hands down. It comes with REAL Rye bread not the weak stuff that comes in a Hostess bag, we’re talking the real McCoy. SOURkraut heavy on the sour, spicy mustard and they’re own homemade potato salad that’s so good you’ll want to buy more after your meal from the deli case. All served on dishes you will swear were stolen from your real grandmother’s cupboards. You can just see into the kitchen from the dining area where you will find no convection ovens or warming trays. There is A stove. When you order; they cook. Not the other way around. As you wait you’ll get a chance to check out their selection of German beer, candy and canned goods. I recommend the Kinder Eggs. They also have deli meats you won’t find at Top Foods. Everything from Bloodwurst to Bockwurst. No more Johnsonville. DASISTVERBOTTEN!

It’s nice to be able to grab a quick bite of German goodness. The rolls are fresh daily, picked up from Hess Bakery in Tacoma. The home made daily soup is delicious, as is the potato salad. Besides the yummy sandwiches, there is a selection of German cookies, candies, and mixes.
