I have yet to eat or play pool here but I was looking to purchase a pool stick for my boyfriend and Paulie G’s was recommended. When I walked in I was pleased to see a nice assortment of pool sticks ranging from $ 120 -$ 500. I was greeted by who I assume was the owner and he answered all my questions as to why this one is better or why these are more expensive, he even let me shoot with the sticks before I decided. I got a great deal on the stick and case and they threw in several chalks. I am very happy with this experience.

Paulie G’s is one of our favorite places in the Thurston County area! It’s a fun, clean, and safe place to spend the day with the kids. And you couldn’t ask for a better sandwich!

This is a super place to go if you just want to play some pool with no hassles. There is no alcohol served, for better or worse. Better for me since I don’t drink and am not a fan of hanging around a bunch of drunk people. We’ll be back to try what look like fantastic sammiches!

Friendly environment, mellow, overall a good time. I don’t know why there’s so many bad reviews. I went in last night and there was only a few other people there. The only down falls I saw was that it was kind of warm, the juke box had a limited selection, and they don’t serve beer. But you don’t need beer to have a good time. It was a really chill environment, eight bucks an hour, the labels were large and pool cues were straight so I was happy. If your debating going here but are leaning towards not going because of the reviews– just go! I had a blast

Don’t bother. A place is only as good as its owner and that man made me feel super creeped out. He misunderstood what my friends and I were doing and rather than asking about it and having a conversation, he asked me to leave and threatened my friends without letting them explain what happened. It was a shoot first ask questions later kind of thing, I will not recommend going there for fun or business based on the principle of basic human decency. I am solution oriented, have never had a problem with a person like that and was disgusted by how he treated my friends.

My buddy and myself are avid pool players and were excited about this place when we found out about it. Finally, a place that isn’t a BAR where pool is the main focus. Not is pool the main focus, but they also serve food and at ONEPOINTANDTIME, served a moderate selection of beer. Granted, the goal that this guy is going for is a place that isn’t your typical seedy pool hall that’s frequented by degenerates and unsavory persons. He isn’t interested in having his place be a collection point for for alcoholics and degenerates. I get it. However, most pool players also enjoy a beer or two when playing. When he first opened, he didn’t serve beer, so naturally, it wasn’t a place we frequented often. When he began serving beer, we went there quite a bit, and now recently he has decided to no longer serve beer. Which is somewhat hypocritical considering the last couple times we were in there, it reeked of pot/mary jane/weed/the ganja. Granted, I’m not against pot, I’m all for it. But the owner is passed out in his office smoking weed, but we can’t get a beer or two? If you want it to be a family place where the degenerates don’t hang out, don’t you think smoking weed in the building is a bit contrary to the concept? The sandwiches are good, but nothing to rave about and I certainly wouldn’t call them the«best subs in town». Your options are limited, which makes sense economically for a small business. The service has always been great and nice. I want to give this more stars, but… how can you sit in your office getting stoned, stinking up the whole place, then act like you want it to be a family friendly joint? Perhaps do something promotional, a BBQ, or add a little to your menu, like fries, or grilled cheese. and for god sake, start serving moderate selections of beer again. If you don’t want people to get drunk, then simply put a limit on it. 2 beers per customer, per night, easy.

Man, relax this place is your pool table, cheap beer, and good sandwiches destination. If your looking for anything else. Don’t come here. Its an awesome spot for a slow night. PBR’s are like 1 $ and bring a couple friends because its usually dead(which is good most of the time)

Despite some of the poor reviews on here, I took my eight-year-old so that I could teach her to shoot pool. I was very impressed in the family friendly atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. I will definitely be going back. Additionally, the sandwiches are awesome!

Paulie G’s does not, I repeat DOESNOT have fish and chips like Unilocal!Advertised. I was very disappointed when I drove all the way there after searching for an hour on where to go…

Since I personally no longer smoke or drink, I was delighted to find this pool hall. The tables and sticks were in fine condition. Prices seemed ok at 8 $/hr for a table of four. The sub sandwiches really are good, I can vouch for the Italian and my two friends liked theirs as well. I only saw one sign telling you to «PULLUPYOURPANTS». ;-)

Paul is one of the best pool hall people I have met. He does a good job of keeping the the unwanted out. I wish I could make it here more often. The best subs in town too!

I’ll spare you(save this mention) a long treatise about my desire for good places for table games without smoke and booze or crappy equipment in Olympia. I like a nice, friendly pool hall that isn’t all drunks, gamblers or people who think it would be fun to threaten me physically. This neat little place tucked halfway between Aztec Lanes and the Eastside Co-Op seemed promising enough, and really like just what I was looking for. The owner announced the opening online with a defiant«no dumbasses.» Hey, I don’t want to have to deal with dumbasses, either! Approaching the front door, one sees an array of brightly-colored notes going floor to ceiling full of disclaimers about who is and isn’t welcome. Emphasis on families and friendliness and being«good people»! Hey, this sounds like it will be low-pressure. A place where people might be able to play games side-by-side without bothering each other, accepting that everyone else has as much a right to be there as you. Again, the owner mentioned online that there’s platforms set up so that kids can play more easily, which seems pretty cool and inviting. That’s good hospitality. The rest of the notes are not. Fully half of them seem to go on about people with saggy pants, referring to them as «thugs.» One particularly-heinous sign says that«boyz in tha hood» should«stay in the hood,» and another notes that the place is called«Paulie G’s» not«Homie G’s.» Hostility with a thick varnish of racial innuendo. Not very welcoming. Not good hospitality. It’s perhaps not the rough crowd one might(reasonably, in some locales) worry about at a pool hall normally. But in Olympia, on the outskirts of the Eastside, that level of hostility playing off of the fear(prevalent in some parts of Olympia) of black youths coming down from Tacoma to engage in some unspecified criminal activity that will impact the«good people» the aforementioned sign referred to is despicable. It’s not hard to get the sense that«good» is approximately synonymous with«white» here. It has all the right markers of being a place for white families and other serious, fine, upstanding people. I guess that’s one way to try to address the fears about becoming one of Those pool halls. It’s a disgusting one, though, and it seems particularly out-of-place in Olympia. I continue to long for a casual, friendly place for playing table games with other Olympians, with no further caveats. I am not a little disturbed at what apparently lurks on Devoe St.
