Back in town and of course frequented the CDG for breakfast. We also went here for lunch — the aforementioned Vietnamese lady makes phở on Tuesday and Thursday and it is awesome.

First, the good: I really appreciate that CDG sells substantial breakfast dishes, and not just pastries. The bad: CDG feels like a somewhat amateur, bare-bones operation. For example, the hot food is prepared on a consumer(i.e. residential kitchen) stovetop, in plain view behind the counter. So it feels a little like you’re in someone’s kitchen, which I found strange, but maybe that’s just me. The space is small and feels cramped, the lighting seemed bad, I was not overly impressed with the coffee, and – like almost every Olympia restaurant I’ve tried – the food seemed a little pricey.
