There was only one waiter so service was a little slow. My husband said he could still taste the oil in his hashbrowns. I ordered strawberry French toast and the strawberries were still frozen so they were very hard to eat. $ 30 for two for just a simple breakfast. Probably won’t be going back

I went here for breakfast with my husband and young son. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. The nice lady sat us near the fish so my son would have something to entertain him. The food was brought out quickly for us and was very good. My husband had the corn beef hash and I had the two egg breakfast. The prices and portions were good. I took a star away because it was cold where we were seated. I gave it four stars for the food and service. I didn’t smell cigarette smoke as noted by another reviewer(something I am very sensitive to). A great family owned place, good for the whole family to eat at. We’ll go back if we want a quick simple breakfast.

I was hoping that this could possibly be an alternative to a lot of the chain breakfast places in the area, sadly this was not the hidden gem I was hoping for. The place has a small time home dinner feel to it with antiques on the walls and closes counter seating. The menu had a pretty wide range of options on it and the prices seemed reasonable. Unfortunately the food was nothing special. For my party’s order there was a lot problems we came across with the meal. Our scrambled eggs were soupy the strawberries on my toast were still frozen and I had to ask for a refill every time a drink was ran low. A big issue was the flies! There were literally 5 flies on our table at one point, we counted them… Overall this was a poor experience and I could not see myself coming back anytime soon.

Feels like eating in mom’s kitchen! I moved to Lacey 2 years ago and drive by Pat’s Café everyday with the intention of trying it out. Today was the day. I brought my father-in-law, who is in town visiting from Florida. As soon as we walked in the door it felt like home. The inside was warm and welcoming. Very neat and clean. We were welcomed with a smile, not only from the staff but also from the regulars who were there enjoying their breakfasts. The menu had everything that I expected although my Dad was disappointed they didn’t have grits. Southern guy! I ordered the Denver omelet and Dad ordered eggs and bacon. While we chatted with fellow customers we watched in the kitchen as our meal was prepared. Soon after ordering, a plateful of wonderful looking food arrived. It was as delicious as it looked. Cooked perfectly with fresh tasting ingredients. Our coffee cups were never empty. And soon the entire dining room was engaged in friendly conversation. This place is a hidden gem! It really feels like home. I can’t wait to come back and bring other family and friends. Maybe I will become one of the«regulars» who were all so nice and friendly.

I used to frequent Pats in the late 80’s and the 90’s. I loved it! Pat was still there and she made fresh bread and huge cinnamon rolls like my Grandma’s every day. It was extra warm in there because it IS smaller than most places to eat and the ovens were on! Everything was made fresh and it was a fantastic place to eat! It was very homey and the smell of the dough and baking was out of this world!!! Fresh bread, rolls, pies etc. and Pat did it all. She lived in a small room inside the restaurant and it was closed off only by a hanging cloth. She would come out and help out any time she was needed even if she was done for the day. Pat was a wonderful individual and I am sorry if her place has gone down hill. It would break her heart to see that happen, especially with her name still on the building.(I haven’t been there for a long time as I just moved back to the area). I used to go there for cinnamon roll, coffee, and sometimes great eggs while studying before going to class at St. Martins. I gave Pats 5 stars in Honor and in Memory of Pat and what her wonderful restaurant USED to be. Here’s to Pat!!!

I like the ambience of this place. One thing about me is that breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, however, I hate making breakfast. This place is like home away from home. As soon as I came in at 0815, I noticed older and friendly patrons and the lady/hostess got me seated right away. There is a faint smell of tobacco but I didn’t witness anybody smoking. I’m definitely coming back here.

just as a note… This restaurant was a home then, around 1970, it was a place to sell & refurbish antiques. My mom & I frequently visited with owners. later it was a diner for breakfast and lunch. Pat was the original owner. The restaurant used to be impossible to get a seat. However, in recent years, there is not nearly as busy. I went in about 5 years ago. 1st: no service to get a seat, menu etc. 2nd: the smell of cigarettes made me cough & gag(I’m very allergic) 3rd: no one was interested in serving us! I left my parents without eating due to the cigarette smell. I learned that it took over 2 hours to get a meal. not a good time! I love the Martin Way Diner…

Cute place; simple food, kinda expensive; at 8:00am on Saturday, there were a handful of people, seemed like regulars; waitress was super nice; yeah, there was a faint odor of cigarette smoke, but it didn’t bother me to the point of distraction; goldfish, huzzah!(to look at, not to eat)

Despite there being a total of four other patrons, the waitress/owner walked by my table several times seeing I had no utensils. They are on a first-name basis with familiar customers but aren’t attentive or inviting to new faces. Prices are high based on the quality and quantity of the food. You can do better yourself at home.

I had their biscuits and gravy for lunch. It came with hash browns and eyes. I wasn’t a fan of the eggs, but then again, I don’t really like how anyone makes their eggs. The biscuits and gravy was on the bland side, but that’s actually how I like them! The hash browns were nice and crispy… My husband wasn’t a fan of this place because it’s on the bland side, I told him he should of just salted his food. I would come back here.

Been here twice. Let’s start with the décor, it’s old, like 1940’s old. It’s pretty dingy and dilapidated in there, and it’s very small, as mentioned it’s an old house converted into a restaurant. There is one bathroom in the whole place and it is small and very outdated. I actually question whether or not my hands were clean upon leaving. I believe they even hand wash all their dishes, I don’t think they have an actual dishwasher. Both times I went there it was very hard to get any attention. Which is odd because the first time we were there isn’t wasn’t busy at all, and the second time it was. But both times it took over 15⁄20 minutes to get our free water and order taken. And neither time, did anyone come and check on us or get us refills. For this reason I don’t think I will return. The menu has a lot of options to it, and they do make some pretty good French toast. Their eggs are greasy and not very flavorful. You definitely need some salt and pepper for things that aren’t sweet. I’ve had their omelets and the French toast combo. I enjoyed both but the omelet lacked flavor. I usually really enjoy small mom and pop places and love supporting my local economy, so the lack of service and attentiveness was a little disappointing.

As everyone previously has mentioned, the interior of the place is a little strange, being quite clearly the first floor of someone’s house. The thing not mentioned, though, was the intense cigarette smoke filling the dining room at regular intervals. I’m allergic to tobacco, so this was pretty hard to take. The food was a little greasy. I had the veggie omelette, which was filled with olives(not listed on the menu) and covered in nacho cheese, which was a little weird. The hash browns were crunchy and tastless. The biscuits had a weird aftertaste. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was good, but her biscuits were not fully cooked. The wait staff consisted of a nice woman who was fast and attentive.

First diner I’ve been to since I’ve arrived in WA. Great food selection and arrives fairly quickly. The Stir Fry Beef is new to me, but it was delicious. Also the asian couple that work here are adorable so there’s a plus.

My husband and I frequent this place often. It’s right down the street from us and you see a lot of old timers. Sure, it’s like you came downstairs from your moms house and you’re eating in her dining room, but the food is delicious. Decent portions, the owners are always pleasant and nice. It’s great to sit back, enjoy coffee, read the newspaper(or the funny emails that the owners get and print out) and have a delicious plate of corned beef hash or ham steak. Really delicious food here. Don’t care much about the décor cause normally I’m too groggy from waking up and too busy shoveling the food in.

Great breakfast spot in a tiny old house. When you first walk in I did notice an odd smell but it wasn’t so obnoxious I felt forced to leave. The service was painfully slow but the pancakes were very light and fluffy. Overall a good breakfast but see how busy they are first.

Pats Café has been one of our favorite places to eat for over 10 years. We enjoy the breakfast stir fry beef, country-fried steak, corned beef hash, and biscuits and gravy. Pats is a great place to get a home-cooked style meal at a reasonable price.

I went here once before early in the morning and found the place to be pretty nice… I went there today and realized I liked it before because I was new to the area and hadn’t tried the million other places in the area that are way better. This place is boring and the food is bland and does not seem like anything is creative or better than what I can make while hungover on a Sunday morning.

A little place next to the 7 – 11 off Pacific Ave. We decided to try it one morning before starting our errands. It’s a converted house that reminded me of my grandma’s house before we took over and took away the nasty wainscoting, carpet, and draperies. The couple that runs it is very friendly and the tables were clean. It did smell a bit funny when we walked in. Breakfast is about $ 9 for some sort of carb, sausage, bacon, and eggs. The pancakes were just the right size and everything else was pretty typical diner food. Needless to say, I didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day. Pancakes have a bad habit of filling me up for hours. I’d rather go to a local place like this than an IHOP or Denny’s but if you’re looking for variety and intrigue, this isn’t the place. I may scout out a few other places before coming back.
