I considered giving three stars, as to me certain dishes weren’t too flavorful. We had the kung pow chicken and it wasn’t very spicy. That’s surprising considereing the area they are in. The reason why i went with 4 stars is because the portions were huge. You really should share a dish with someone. The General Tso’s was what you would expect. It’s americanized chinese, so you won’t be super surprised, but it’s pretty good food, it’s pretty affordable, and the people are very nice. We had the«jewish christmas» where we had chinese food from here on christmas day. The people working couldn’t have been more friendly.

Best Chinese food in Lafayette. The only place to get Chinese food. Love the sesame chicken. Great service and owners. Easy simple and near campus. Great price. Didn’t love the dumplings. We go so often they know our face.

If you’re looking for great low priced Chinese food, this is the place! I’ve been coming here for years and it’s my only go-to spot in Lafayette for fresh Chinese food. The owners are very friendly and welcoming!

This is the closest I’ve gotten to the old Canton City Inn, my benchmark for Cantonese food. It’s not anything to write home about in terms of cuisine; the shop fits the cookie cutter type layout for Chinese restaurants, but the food is quite delicious. The staff is very friendly, as well. Overall, my current choice for Chinese in Lafayette.

I was wishing that I could give China One five stars back before Unilocal was even a thing. They have been serving up Lafayette with delicious chinese food for quite a few years now, but that isn’t what keeps me coming back. Don’t get me wrong, the food is really good, but it’s the owner’s hard work, dedication and perseverance that ranks China One as one of the greatest little chinese take-out spots I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. As I said, the food is really good, but this goes well beyond just that. Meaning no disrespect, I will refer to her as the ‘China One Lady’, mainly because I don’t know her birth name, and even if I did, don’t think it should be broadcast over Unilocal, even if it is for high praise. China One Lady works harder than you or I ever will. I’ve called her the«Woktopus» before because I’ve seen her whipping up marvelous dishes in like eight different woks at a single time. Keep in mind that while she woks it up, she’s also juggling the phones, taking in-person orders, AND raising a child. All at the same time. I don’t know about you, but I’m still getting down the whole chewing gum and walking thing, so all that the China One Lady is able to do this well at once is staggering for me. I respect The Lady more than most, and you would too if you visited China One to see what I’m talking about. Did I mention that your order will be ready in ten minutes? Because it will. That’s the standard time for every single order you could possibly place. One fortune cookie? Ten minutes. Two of the entire menu? Ten minutes. How is this possible? I have no clue. But The Lady makes it so. The last thing you will hear on the phone with her after placing an order is «ten minrute», and you’d better believe that it will be exactly ten minrutes, no matter the order. The China One lady is like a chinese food superhero. She has powers comparable to the X-Man Quicksilver, but with good chinese food. Seriously though, I really do respect and admire her dedication to the business and to general customer hospitality. And as hard as she works, she still has a heart and isn’t a business Nazi when it comes to turning a profit. She’s the rare breed of humanitarian that will give you back 4 dollar bills change from your 10 dollar bill when the total was $ 6.12, because she knows you don’t want that .88 jiggling around in your pocket. The point is, and should always be, that good business isn’t solely about lining your pockets, it’s about being the best you can be, always working hard, and being kind and genuine to the people that support you, and these are all qualities the China One Lady possess in high quantities. And as I mentioned earlier, the food is really good(and VERY reasonably priced, by the way). But there’s so much more to business than that which may go unnoticed to the casual diner that only visits a spot once and decides to Unilocal about the crispiness of the outer eggroll shell because it wasn’t the perfect density for them or something. China One IS the American dream, and I highly recommend you eat there, and shake the hand of The Lady and tip her for christsakes, she has a kid to put thru college.

I am giving the big fiver this time to China One… how can that be? Well, it can be because this joint serves up the most phenomenal and delicious wings in all of Lafayette. yea, really. And you get a giant order of either buffalo or sesame wings — WITH an order of pork fried rice for $ 5.95… the same amount of food at BWW would be at least $ 10, and these are better. I’ve had wings at lots of places in town. sports bars and Wing joints, but the sesame wings at China One trump them all. Trust me on this.

I love this place, It is my favorite chinese place in town. The owners are very nice and pretty quick. The food always tastes fresh and plentiful. Prices are good, and really the whole atmosphere is very laid back. I love picking up take out on days I don’t feel like cooking, nor going out to eat. And yes sometimes there is a little bit of a language barrier, but nothing beats the good all«point at the menu» method, which is pretty extensive. Again this is a casual place, nothing fancy, for those days you just want to stay on your PJ’s, pick up something quick and stay at home. I love it.

I come here daily because of the yummy food. The atmosphere is common, nothing special. Although there is a language barrier sometimes, they are always friendly. I love getting either the fried chicken or spicy buffalo wild wings. Will always come here whenever I can :)

While not a Chinese food fanatic, I like to indulge once in a while. Before trying this place, I was a semi-regular patron of Panda House and fairly happy with their food. But after trying China One, I think I’ll be going here from now on to get my fix. The food was very fresh tasting, the portions were large and the prices were reasonable. There was even decent-sized shrimp in the shrimp eggrolls — something I’ve never encountered before. Although I wasn’t there for the lunch specials — with just about everything priced at $ 4.95, it seems like quite a deal. As mentioned by others, everyone was very friendly and welcoming, which is always great to see. I’ll be making this my regular stop when the urge for Chinese food hits.

I absolutely love this place! The service is great and the woman who works the counter always remembers her regulars. The prices are great if you’re looking to save a few dollars and their lunch special for $ 4.95 is more than enough for two meals. However, if you do not like vegetables this may not be the best choice for you when it comes to Chinese restaurants.

Our favorite take out place in town. The people are so nice here, they always remember us. We were there once(after not eating there for some time) and my wife was pregnant and the lady behind the counter asked her, «you take baby?». We got a kick out of that. The food is less greasy compared to other Chinese take out places, especially their fried rice. And their dumplings are great. Your money goes a long way here as well. We’ve enjoyed many Arrested Development and Dr. Who marathons with China One on Saturday nights. Good food.

I wouldn’t say they have the best Chinese food, but they’re overall not that bad. I was just disappointed because its hard to make an order on the phone due to the language barrier. I had a hiccup of a mistake, I had ordered the house special lo mein, but instead received the vegetable lo mein. not a big mistake, but I was pretty sad. We had the following: — Fried chicken wings — how can you go wrong with Chinese wings? It was delicious. — Fried crab rangoon — lack in flavor and texture, too much crunchy, as if they overcooked it — Shrimp toast — too much toast and shrimpy flavor, very overpowering and not that great — Steamed dumpling — lack in flavor and freshness, not good at all — Pepper steak — so much vegetables and barely any meat. disappointing — Vegetable lo mein — the noodles were good, but I really wish they gave me what I ordered, because it sure can use some meat! Honestly, I would not eat here again, unless I really can’t find another take out place!

Apparently, this place is a chain. I have also found a China One in Dubois, PA. That being said, the food here is great. Everything I’ve ever eaten here is fresh. Their dumplings are one of the best I’ve ever tried. The quality has everything to do with the owners/employees here because the one in Dubois, PA was horrendous. I usually get the lunch special, no matter what time of day or night it is. A good size portion for a small price. It’s not«as good as it gets», but it is good fresh food.

First of all the food for the price is good. If you come here get whatever you order and go eat it where you can enjoy your food unless you like hearing a little chineese woman scream at the top of her lungs in her native tongue at her kitchen staff then stay put because if so you just hit the mother load!!! On top of that there was a family sitting next to me with two crying kids. It’s good food but nothing else. Remember it’s not a formal place but mostly a take out hence the tip… don’t stay.

We like to eat here because the veggies are fresh and stir fried so they are still crunchy and served hot. She always remembers my order from last time I was there and that could be months apart. She is amazing!

This place is like the McDonalds of Chinese takeout places. I have been to Chinese takeout places all over, and once you walk in the door, you could not tell this place from any of them. It’s hard to believe they’re not a franchise. Anyway, I must also say, they food was great and the price was right.
