The food is melt in your mouth goodness. It’s so fresh. They even have a garden growing outside of there restaurant. Can’t wait to try it again.

A very well run restaurant. The food coming out of the kitchen is some of the best in Lafayette. Staff is well informed on the menu and always very courteous. Hidden gem in the Hub City!

Great brunch menu using local ingredients. Server suggested braised short ribs on sweet potato hash — great choice. Try the bloody Mary’s as well — spicy without being overly salted.

This is an awesome place to dine if your a true foodie! I love how the staff breaks down what the dish is and even how it’s cooked. Just makes you want to eat everything lol. But Dark Roux has a really nice ambiance and although I wasn’t raised on the dark roux style for my gumbo I have to say their gumbo is yummy yum! Last thing, one other fave is the numerous choices of local products you can purchase that are made from local farmers Etc from pickled green beans to lavender bath salt! So if you’re in town and want something good yet unique this is your place.

Visited for the first time today for brunch. We drove from Lake Charles & chose Dark Roux from Unilocal. It was excellent! Delicious beignets, boudin Benedict, crawfish fried rice & short rib hash. The fresh, locally sourced ingredients made each dish spectacular in flavor. Service was brisk & the restaurant was pretty full. We made reservations on open table so we didn’t have to wait. We will definitely be back!

Local ingredients… out of this world flavor. Pain Perdu, crawfish fried rice, chicken biscuits, Don Draper, Bloody Mary. Honestly you can’t go wrong. Farm to Table at its finest!!!

Not so much. Very high prices with very small portions. Everything seasoned with a heavy hand and way too much sodium. Best thing we had was the wine. Everyone said even after dessert and coffee we needed to stop on the way hame for a snack.

I’m allergic to dairy and gluten intolerant, and finding a place that is so accommodating and this tasty is hard to find! The servers were helpful, clear, and knowledgeable! I can’t wait to go back for the roasted beet risotto and the pulpo was cooked to perfection!

This is a higher end restaurant that I love taking visitors too because of the excellent cuisine and unique dishes they make. You will find dishes here made with local foods like crawfish that you won’t find anywhere in the world. An example would be the boudin beignets with crawfish etoufee. The prices are a little higher than the chain breakfast spots, but that keeps the atmosphere pleasant as there are not typically a lot of younger kids there. This is also a higher end presentation and eating experience. In summary. If your looking for plain pancakes and eggs, this isn’t your place. However, if you want a unique dining experience found nowhere else in the county then make Dark Roux a must stop when in Lafayette. We have eaten here 20+ times and it’s always good.

Very cool vibe. Great ambiance, good service. The food was beautiful in presentation and delicious! Great cocktails and all around wonderful experience. We went on a Sunday evening and didn’t get the full experience we would have on another day. They serve tapas instead of full dinners on Sundays. Looking forward to coming back one day when we are in town.

Me and my fiancée LOVES this place! We love the people, the vibe, and the great selection of music! Though the food was a bit slow to come out, probably due to the fact they were somewhat busy, we still enjoyed our meal. We had the following: — Braised Beef Shortribs + House Papardelle + Mushroom + Pancetta + Egg Yolk — delicious and tender shortribs! — Bbq U12 Shrimp + Fried Grits + Onion Marmalade — delicious bbq shrimp, just wish they had a little more grits, since they had so much shrimp — Beignets — delicious and airy, we enjoyed this a lot — House Smoked Bacon — the bacon was delicious, but nothing special compared to other house smoked bacon We really enjoyed this place, and will visit this place more for brunch!

There’s a new menu since the last time I’ve been. I liked the French toast from the earlier menu, but what I’ve tried on the new menu is great. Brunch with pitcher mimosas are great. Great atmosphere.

Best beignets I have had. I think the other 3 in my group would concur with me. Light, sweet, tasty. Perfect! My fried chicken and biscuits was great. My wife enjoyed her boudin and pork. Two friends were very happy with their choices too. Friendly, quick service. No complaints!

I appreciate your response and I agree on some points. Everyone has different tastes. My husband is a bit more selective with his food choices than I am and to be honest, neither myself, daughter or husband finished even ¼ of our food. The«fried crust» that we were served as a «beignet» seemed to be just that. 3 small balls of fried hollow crust that were beautifully presented then epically let us down on flavor and content. I do appreciate the fact that everything is bought locally, however as a fellow south Louisiana cajun native, it would be more beneficial to me, personally, to actually«enjoy» the food. The music was nice and the plates were beautiful. The gumbo,(in all three of our opinions), was horrible and it gave my husband heartburn, which he never gets. The bloody mary was, in the opinion of my family, disgusting and the boudin balls were … well, we felt like they were in the same category as everything else we tried: not for us. Perhaps I’m just more of a fan of the previous restaurant and that’s what we were expecting when we arrived. I understand that you do not care for negative feedback, however negative feedback allows us to grow and improve. I wish you all the best in your endeavor, however, it will be without my hard earned money. I work too hard for what I have, to settle for something I do not like. That’s not an exaggerated, untrue, or false statement. That’s the truth. What kind of «thriving business owner» attempts to degrade and discount a review of someone who has spent money in their establishment while knowing nothing about that person? Gold star for«class» and«hospitable service». Yet another reason why I will not spend money in this resaurant and apparently one of the reasons why the previous establishment has relocated. For your information, not that it’s any of your business, I work nights saving people’s lives. Have a great night.

Like a beacon in the night Dark Roux welcomes you home. At first you wonder where you are going on the dark roads leading you to this restaurant, but when you arrive, you instantly feel at home. The team is welcoming, insightful and generous with their time. They clearly love what they do and believe in the restaurant’s philosophy. The food, mostly local produce, is prepared with care, passion and attention(even taking into account my allergies to capsicums). The portions are well balanced and perfectly proportioned so that you can, if you so wish, have a 3 course meal without feeling heavy(of course it depends on what you order). I recommend this place whole heartedly whether you are in Lafayette for a couple of days like me or if you live here. Bön appétit!

This was our first time here & will not be the last! Wow walked in wanting chicken fried steak mashed potatoes & gravy & saw menu changed. But, Paige turned my frown upside down by suggesting Steak, biscuits & then the chef made mashed potatoes!!! My husband had the BLT with an egg atop & potato hash The steak was amazing the biscuits even better than my homemade biscuits & my husband loved the bread & bacon on his BLT Paige was awesome She told us the history about Dark Roux The owner asked how our meal was! We are going back for their new hours Monday — Friday plate lunches 11 – 2 Thanks god great start to our day We moved here from New Orleans & the good food has not disappointed us!!!

All I can say is wow! We started with an Old Fashion, which was tasty and strong, followed by some awesome beignets. BTW, I have no idea why people complain about the portion size. We got 5 sizeable beignets — perfect for an appetizer. For lunch, we shared the 72 Hour Beef Short Rib Hash and the Croque-a-Cochon. Both were cooked perfectly, well presented and above all very tasty. Just to get the full gamut, we got a side of bacon, which was some of the best bacon I’ve ever had. Service was spot on with the water never going dry. If there was a sixth star, I would give it to Ryan and Dark Roux!
