El Mercado De Lafayette II

I have been driving by El Mercado for years (I did shop at the small supermarket a couple times), always promising myself I would try their breakfast burritos (available inside the supermarket a while back) once I saw they got a food truck.
They’ve made constant improvements to make the patio more attractive (they even added a covered area for cold or rainy days.) I figured they had to do something right to attract enough customers for their breakfast burritos in order to buy a truck.
I am so glad I finally visited El Mercado to try their breakfast burrito. It was by far the best I’ve had for a very long time. I actually had given up finding a very good one in Colorado. I had the chorizo, and my husband the bacon one. That burrito was so moist it melted in my mouth, it was the perfect balance of cheese (lots of it I assume), chorizo and whatever else they put in it.
A sign also says that they now offer breakfast burritos all day.
Sitting at a table next to us was someone raving about his tamale (he told me they have added a new one to the menu and it is the best– $ 2 each, blue sign on the window).
They seem to do a good business with people ordering to go, a lot of them regulars and I totally understand why.
I will be going back to try their lunch menu soon!!!

Torta wasn’t anything to write home about. I got the spicy pork and didn’t love it. The breakfast burrito was very good however with ½ and ½ green chili.

They do not have Taco salad here. Only tortas, soft tacos, burritos, rellenos served out of a food truck. It’s a very limited menu. They don’t even have fountain drinks, but they do have bottled and canned drinks. The food was «ok» but not great. Staff was very nice and tried to be accommodating.

Good fresh Mexican food. Newly updated wind break and pretty authentic tacos!

Best burritos around! Everything I’ve tried has been delicious! Especially the breakfast burritos! The meats are so flavorful and perfectly salty! They really know what they are doing! I feel very lucky to have stumbled onto this gem!

Greatest taco stand ever!!! At least in Boulder County lol. They just added rice to the menu and chicken a little while ago so its ever expanding! Most people seem to get breakfast burritos but the all the burritos, tortas & tacos are amazing. It does get slammed at perdictable times and sometimes random week days so its best to call it in ahead of time and save yourself some a lil waiting.

So affordable and good! Really rich and delicious green chilli. (Sorry Santiago’s, but it’s better here!) The new patio is pretty nice. One of the few patios on Public a little more off the street.

Everyone loves to talk about Santiago’s and their green chili, let me just say that Santiago’s has nothing on this place. The food here is great! Great quality, good prices and they serve breakfast burritos all day, even on Sundays when Santiago’s is closed. I recommend the breakfast burrito and the asada tacos. I’ll be back to try this place again.

Best breakfast burritos in Boulder County! Everything else I have tried including quesadillas and regular burritos are great as well. I never thought such delicious food could come from a cart.
