Lagneaux’s is the place where you go for good authentic flavorful Cajun Creole cuisine. My top picks on the buffet: the seafood au gratin, the crab boulettes, the red beans and rice, and the seafood pasta. I’m not a crawfish and crab from the shell eater but those that do reply they are flavorful but not seasoned like you’d have at a backyard crawfish boil. Overall a good experience at a reasonable price.

I love food especially seafood and this is the place for me! I love to do small outings there. Bring your family because they will have the time of their lives.

This review is solely based on their buffet and crawfish. The staff here was friendly, place looks very old, but still clean. We decided to try their buffet, then later had ordered 3lb of crawfish, since that day, they did not serve crawfish in their buffet. Overall, their buffet was pretty decent. Tons of fried seafood stuff and cajun fare items. The day we went, they had boiled shrimp and crabs. The shrimp was decent size, somewhat too salty and a little over cooked. The crabs were full of flavor and full of meat. They did not had crawfish that day, but I was told that they do have crawfish sometimes, not sure which days. So we decided to order some crawfish, since we were really craving for crawfish. We figured it would be good, since the crabs were good. However, this was not the case. The flavors were mediocre, and the crawfish itself, looks somewhat dry? If that makes any sense. The outer shell of the crawfish did not have a vibrant red color to it, instead it was somewhat yellow, and not vibrant at all. Maybe this color difference threw off my appetite, but we did not enjoy the crawfish like we hoped. Overall, the food is pretty decent and I would come back, but I would probably skip out on the crawfish.

Food was amazing. Waiter was awesome. Bathrooms and table were clean. Pretty expensive though.

I knew last week we were going here today so, I did some research. I found a lot of folk on Unilocal didn’t like this place. Then, I looked it up on TripAdvisor and those folks liked it. I went in with more of an open mind. I knew that they had a buffet(One Unilocaler was not so keen on buffets. Almost like second-class citizen food). When I got here, checked out the buffet and decided to take that, I was glad I did. It’s $ 11.95 each. They had fried fish, fried chicken, fried okra, fried shrimp, onion rings, fries, gumbo, dirty rice, way too much to mention each one. I will talk about what I had. Fried Fish, Fried Shrimp — crispy, flavorful, not over-powering tastes. Seasonings were perfect. Onion Rings were awesome. Almost like a beer-batter. Dirty Rice. You know how sometimes the taste of a food sends you way back into your memory, for a good reason? That was this dirty rice. I haven’t had dirty rice like this since my teens, and I’m 55 now. I’ve had dirty rice but, not like this. That rice was, I think, made with chicken gizzards and livers, maybe(?) I don’t know. All I know is, IT.WAS.AWESOME! Also, I had seen about the lousy service. Our wait service was great. Maybe because we had about 20 people in our group and they were working for the tips. I have seen that situation go either way. Overall — Awesome meal. Awesome service.

Rude staff. Dirty. Everything tastes the same. Way too expensive. Way not worth it. Save your money and go somewhere with good food.

Came prepared to buffet it up, only to find their lunch offerings unimpressive for the price. Only fried seafood, and from what I am told about half the variety of the dinner buffet. Got the boiled crawfish– excellent price and good flavor but I suspect they were reheated from an earlier boil. The hubs got fried alligator– delicious and not too chewy!- and a catfish plate. Catfish was good but the courtboullion it came with was pretty disappointing. It had on overwhelming canned tomato flavor and lacked any freshness or quality of flavor. Also, grilled catfish apparently means lightly floured/dusted and pan fried.

I’ve had better Cajun food at Herbert’s. Everything was practically fried. The boiled potato and corn had no flavor. The catfish was good, coleslaw bland like something I’ve never tasted before. The waitress could not suggest anything off the menu because she didn’t eat seafood. It was pretty pricey for the level of quality… could’ve went to an upscale place.

I really like the buffet here. I’m from Lafayette and I believe it’s one of the most authentic Cajun buffets around. It’s not the best restaurant in Lafayette but it’s what you would get at a Cajun friends home.

Normally a buffet isn’t going to be my first choice when choosing a restaurant. But an all you can eat boiled crawfish and boiled shrimp buffet? Not just yes. Hell effing yes! I learned how to peel crawfish when I was still in the womb. Ok, not really… but I’ve been peeling and eating crawfish since I was really, really little. You’d be surprised at the amount of crawfish I can put away. So I was really excited to try this place. The crawfish were hot, spicy and huge. Perfection. I didn’t try the boiled shrimp, but they were really great according to my dining companions. When I left I was so full. My lips burned for days and my fingers were a little raw from peeling all of that yummy crawfish. A true sign of a great crawfish boil… umm buffet.

Excellent buffet. Hot and fresh. I only ate the fried stuff, but it was delicious. Not too sure about the fried crab. It was good, but I’ll probably stick to my boiled crabs. Great value for the money!

I tried to like this place, really I did. I’d heard such great things about it. But on our first visit, there were no boiled crawfish(it was early in the season, but others were serving them). The boiled crabs were very small and the meat was dry and flavorless. The jambalaya was lukewarm and had an odd aftertaste. The boudin had no spice or bite. The fried shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. And it seemed as though everything else was deep-fried in the same, boring, too thick batter. I don’t expect sterling service at a buffet, but we finished our meal without anyone ever collecting dirty plates … and our water glasses stayed empty once they reached that state. But still — every time we drove by, the parking lot was full. Surely all these people couldn’t be wrong! So we tried again. This time, there was crawfish — but it tasted muddy and the tails crumbled rather than snap from the shell. The crab was again very small and dry. The gumbo was bland and gummy. The deep-fried catfish tenders … weren’t. Even the corn on the cob looked and tasted over-boiled. The service this time was fine, but the food left me seriously unimpressed. I won’t try a third time.

The best seafood buffet I’ve encountered in a LONG time. The buffet has something everybody would like, and the selections are replenished as fast as they are scooped-up by the customers. The parking lot is ALWAYS full and there is frequently a line out the door. This is the place for a family night out for seafood.

The catfish was excellent and savory. We had to try the frog legs and alligator. Although I was extremely apprehensive about trying the exotic meat, I was glad to test them out, but I do not believe I will eat them again. The rest of the meal was very well worth the 1750 mile drive. A peaceful atmosphere with kind waitresses.

Really, really good buffet! There is something for everyone, and it’s cheap. Plentiful boiled crawfish, great cole slaw, seafood au gratin, and even a great yella cake/chocolate icing! And very sweet servers who kept the tea coming.

I hear a lot about the buffet but we ordered from the menu. My entrée was cold. The shrimp was rubbery and overcooked. My girl got the baked eggplant shrimp casserole… she hated it. The plates they use are those old plastic cafeteria type. The décor was very dated. Plus, it was not cheap. We won’t be going back. This place is losing its luster. The«King of Seafood» is ailing.

Most of the time this place fires on all cylinders. The service is always great. Some items ever once in a while is not up to par but 9 out of 10 times it hits the mark. Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy everthing. They do have a normal menu, but the all you can eat is where it is at

I think this may be my man’s most favorite place on earth. They have a seafood all-you-can-eat, and he accepts that phrase as a challenge! He’ll write later, I am sure. I ordered from the menu. I had the fried shrimp dinner, which came with a salad and bread. The salad was good, but the bread was pretty much a buttered hot dog bun. The shrimp dinner itself was GOOD! I could hardly see the plate from all the honkin’ food! I must have had 20 big ol’ shrimp and a pound of french fries. The seafood jambalaya was fresh and tasty and the hush puppy was alright. The waitress kept our glasses full, and our menu items were brought out quickly. The restaurant was FREEZING, which sucked mostly because crabs take a LONG time to eat, and my man had to work his way through 3 dozen of them. Crab crap was everywhere! Up his arms, along the wall, in my purse… everywhere!
