This review is about business practices. After almost 20 years of loyalty, on our last appointment I advised this dentist’s receptionist that our insurance changed when we went from employer PPO/DeltaDental to Kaiser/DeltaCare USA. She advised that Delta and DeltaCare are not the same and we were no longer covered because Swimmer/Lauritzen’s practice isn’t part of the new provider’s HMO network. I agreed to go through with the teeth cleaning cuz we were already there and how much can teeth cleaning cost? Then we got the bill. On top of the teeth cleaning, my wife was charged for a bunch of x-rays and an oral exam although she never saw the dentist. According to my wife, the hygienist insisted that she get the x-rays because their last on record came from 2011 and their«standard of care» required x-rays once every year or something. My wife doesn’t normally get x-rays(obviously) but acquiesced. After seeing their invoice I called their office to see what relief we might get considering these circumstances. They insisted that, insured or not, their«standard of care» required the x-rays. They agreed to eliminate the charge for the oral exam that never happened. They advised that we might qualify for a 10% discount on the total outstanding charges IF we were seniors AND we paid cash. No other relief possible. They insist on collecting over $ 600 for these two 40-minute teeth cleaning sessions.

Dr. Swimmer is an exceptionally professional dentist. I do not really like going to the dentist, but his command of the practice of dentistry puts me at ease. One time I was certain I was going to need a root canal, but Dr. Swimmer correctly identified it as TMJ and recommended that I wait a few days and do a few jaw exercises before I moved forward with a root canal.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Mark for about 8 years or so. Dr. Mark is super communicative, professional and has a warm manner. I always feel like I’m in the best hands when I’m there, as his staff of hygienists are amazing. The staff is courteous, the office is impeccable, and my appointments are punctual. I trust that the recommendations regarding my health are based on years of experience and made with my best interest in mind. After years of bouncing around to terrible dentists, I drive over 45 minutes to continue to receive the best dental care here with Dr. Mark. THANKYOU!

I have been a patient for 30 years. I saw his father first ! He and Troy Lauritzen both do impeccable work. Mark is my primary dentist but if he is not available you can feel completely comfortable with Troy as well. Their work is very precise. I know Mark better. He has the confidence(and always had the confidence) of someone who grew up with a parent in the field. When a judgment call has to be made, you can trust him to make it. No need to cruise the internet or ruminate endlessly about what is best. He’ll treat you like a family member. So that’s it. A completely class act. Oh … I should add that you will not get a more genuinely nice, smart, staff anywhere else. It reflects Mark’s personality.

I’ve been to crappy dentists, decent dentists, old-timey-oughta-retire dentists, good dentists, horrible dentists and so on. Dr. Swimmer is the best, all his work and diagnoses have been solid(and it has been a lot of work.), he puts you at ease(really…I have huge«dentist issues»…and he is chill) but at the same time he is a no nonsense, tell it like it is kind of guy… don’t know what I would do without him to be honest.
