It’s the best! Great food, great atmosphere, and great service! Fun people watching too! Can’t wait to go back and sip on a G&T on their patio!

Had an okay experience here this past weekend. Came for dinner for my parents’ 35th wedding anniversary. Pros: Big table, ample space — not crowded at all, very comfortable; Lots of menu choices appealed to me and my family; kid-friendly — not too loud, not too intimate, great ambiance Cons: Food was fine… better than decent, but nothing I’m chomping at the bit to get back and eat; service was SLOWWWWW — like ask several times for the kids’ milks, for the crayons you said you’d bring 2x already, ask several times for glass of wine, ask for bread multiple times, etc. The brussels sprouts salad was delish, the french onion soup was good. Desserts were excellent. Steaks and prime rib were fine — not out of this world, but certainly not bad.

First time here last night and cant wait to return! Got in with a reservation, and had amazing gin cocktails before getting our food. We ordered a fresh pasta dish, shrimp n grits, and mahi tacos. Couldnt get any better. Such clean flavors, prompt and friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere on a very cold night. Lets do it again :)

I’ve been here many times and am just getting a chance to write a review. Fantastic place to meet family and friends for dinner or brunch. Attentive staff and knowledgeable bartenders! Great Gin and Tonic, deviled eggs are amazing, French dip sandwich is my daughters favorite, good salads and lots of choices for all from casual burgers to great cut of steak. Highly recommended Lafayette hot spot.

Amazing fish tacos, great margaritas and terrific wait staff make for a very enjoyable dinner spot. Great for families, groups of friends and anyone who wants to grab a bite.

First thing that strikes me is the comfortable lighting. They did it right. Brings a little of the City Tavern vibe, but captures an East Bay mentality. Two separate spaces to the place. To the right is the open kitchen. To the left is the bar with sit down seating. Drink list deserves 5 stars alone. The Sazrac rivals New Orleans. The Manhattan has some smoke with one of those racket ball shaped ice cubes. For starters, the deviled eggs were wiped to a mouse with a hit of heat to it. My main dishes have been just good, but others at the table have always cheered the Brown Derby salad. Solid 4 stars.

Always have had a great experience here. Awesome brunch and atmosphere. Service is great, we always request to see Liz on the weekends, she’s the best! Not sure why people complain about the TVs, they’re not in your face or have audio… you can sit in the dining room if you don’t want to see them. The portions are good, this is not a BJs. Cocktails are on point, gin and tonics are a must have. More expensive if you’re comparing to a simple bar well drink but they are innovative and fresh. Ingredients are fresh and most everything made in house. They have vegetarian options and gluten free buns, waffles, and pasta. Cooperage is even better in the summer, where you can enjoy some fresh drinks on the patio with your pup!

My experience has only been with BRUNCH on weekends, NOT dinner or regular lunch, and this review reflects that. Drinks: Drinks are slightly above average in price, but they are very, very good. Fresh juice selection could be better(no carrot juice), but the adult libations I’ve tried were all well-balanced. Food: Brunch food is also very good. As a frequent visitor to the other three brunch places nearby, this place offers some great selections, especially the egg dishes and french toast. There is also enough variety for everyone in a picky family. The portions for brunch are a bit inconsistent — French Toast and Salmon Flat bread are relatively large vs. egg dishes, for example — but certainly not small. Atmosphere: The inside area by the bar has a lot of tvs, and is more conducive to couples or those that want a slightly more upbeat, louder, group setting.(Yes, it can be loud, but to me, that’s why there are multiple rooms. Lafayette has families, but also singles who want to have a nice brunch and watch the game on Sunday and there is nothing wrong with that.) The other room inside by the kitchen is slightly quieter, and is more traditionally focused on the dining experience. The outside patio is great when it’s sunny, though there are heaters all over the place even when it is not. Overall, a good number of choices depending on the occasion and company. Price: It is on the higher end than the other nearby competitors, but you do have more choices when it comes to seating, atmosphere, and adult beverages, as well as some brunch staples. Cons: It can get crowded and loud. As others have commented, the hostesses are a hit-and-miss when it comes to being polite. I’ve had two fairly rude hostesses during two separate visits. Management could do a better job training them to remember that they work in a family-friendly Lafayette, and they are not a hosting a bar at a club in SF on Saturday night. However, my experience with the waitstaff, including busboys, has been nothing but positive. Overall, if you can get past the occasionally rude hosts in the front, this is a good alternative to some other spots nearby.

Service at the bar was excellent. Wide variety of choices on the menu. I started with the Brussels Sprouts salad.(See picture) Awesome! Burger could have been a little bigger for the price charged. It was good but small in my opinion. First time here. Would definitely come back.

When we want a nice meal and don’t want to drive to Oakland or SF, we go to the Cooperage in Lafayette. They have a great menu and their drinks list is creative. We’ve had just about everything on their menu. French onion soup and deviled eggs are good. While my 10 year son likes the burger with regular fries, I like the warm Brussel Sprout Salad with poached egg or their salmon. Fish tacos are good here too. I’ve had the shrimp and grits but it’s lacking flavor. We’ve been here before when the entrees are coming out at different times. Just recently, two family members ordered the prime rib and all other entrees but the prime rib had arrived. We were more than half way done by the time the prime rib came to the table. The timing is hit or miss. Overall, we like The Cooperage and will continue to go there!

When the Cooperage opened, all of Lafayette was excited. Finally a new, hip restaurant. Sadly, it disappoints. Although not a bad space visually, it is deafeningly loud. Offering a tantalizing menu of goodies, it unfortunately does not deliver once on the table. Very small portions, all at extraordinarily high prices. We are saddened that what is a great location, and much needed new restaurant for Lafayette has been a discouraging experience.

Nice place, had a great bottle of wine here and two(of four) good entrees. I can’t recall which entrée it was but one of the beef-heavy steak entrees were pretty low quality, fatty cuts that the two who ordered it could hardly manage to get through it. Desserts were killer. Would probably come back but stick to the fish or pork chops.

Still a fan, 5 or 6 visits later. Cocktails are excellent, especially the glamor gin and tonics. The new fried chicken night on Wednesdays is fun, for $ 25 we got 4 fried chicken parts with modest sides of whipped potatoes, gravy and cole slaw. There were also a couple mini(micro) biscuits. Considering the cost of flour and fat I would love them to just offer a normal service of biscuits. The portion is fine for two adults to share but you’ll probably want a salad or something to round out the meal. Fried chicken is pretty good overall. On another visit I sampled their prime rib, and that was really excellent.

Great place to bring the whole family, including your pets(brought our dog and sat on the patio)! It was nice that they had ample heaters to make sitting out on a November night quite pleasant. We started with an appetizer of buffalo wings which had a nice spice to them. We also had a few starter salads which were light and refreshing and had a sufficient amount of goat cheese, which I love. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits for my entrée and found it creamy, flavorful, and that they didn’t skimp on the Shrimp. The favorite order at the table was the handmade fettuccine which had mushrooms, tomatoes, and chicken to accompany it. I’m excited for my next visit to try some new things on the menu and old favorites.

Nice atmosphere. We sat outside and it was super nice. The drinks were good. Especially the margarita an the old fashioned. Their bee selection was alright. Nothing extravagant, but decent nonetheless. Had the«Rocky JR». It was alright. Basic grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and grilled broccolini. My friend had the fish tacos. She said they were alright. Another had the chili and the prime rib sandwich which were delicious. My other friend had the muscles which she said were ok. We all shared the truffle fries. Awesome stuff. Overall, the food was decent. The timing of the foods arrival was lacking. Same with the drinks. It took a while for both. Kind of a bummer. Had higher expectations. I may try it again. Idk.

There’s a reason why this restaurant is so busy. Lafayette residents need a place like this and more like it. I should not have to travel out of my city to be in a vibrant and beautiful restaurant. Bonus points for being able to walk to this restaurant from my home. Food: Brown Derby salad is their take on the Cobb Salad. Deep fried bacon pieces. This is my favorite item on the menu. I’ve gone on Taco Tuesdays too! I would consider this a slightly more upscale restaurant so be prepared for the higher costs(but you get quality ingredients!). Service: Most times it’s very friendly and accommodating! My friend didn’t like her salad dish and the server was happy to replace it with something else, and my friend loved it. Ambiance: California architecture at it’s finest. It is always lively. The acoustics can be loud. They do have a smaller room in the back where it’s quieter and there is a fireplace!

As my Toni would say, read as a 3.51. I have been here three times now. The first was around when they first opened and we came for Toni’s birthday. I was impressed by the menu, unimpressed with the service and the food and didn’t feel a need to come back. Fast forward to this year. I met a girlfriend here for lunch(she lives in Moraga) and again, appealing menu, but this time both the service and the food were better than stellar. This last time, we met my folks here for dinner on a Sunday evening. We had a table on the patio and they had the dog with them. The restaurant was very busy inside and out and this turned into an experience closely reminiscent of my first visit. Our waiter was overwhelmed, it took a very long time to have our orders taken, courses and more. They were very apologetic when my Dad’s fries came out salted(he is on a low sodium diet and this was told to the waiter explicitly as well as in our reservation information), and did bring him fresh fries sans salt right away. My chicken dish was fantastic and overall we were all pleased with our meals. Took FOREVER to get our check and then to have it picked up and returned. This is a pet peeve of mine but the food made up for some of the service issues. It was a treat being with my folks so that also made up for some of it and though don’t see that I will be coming back anytime soon, know if I lived closer would be there more often.

We had breakfast here a few months ago and I really enjoyed it. It is a bit on the spendy side(I feel like I say this about all places near WC) for the portion you get. The food was very good and the drinks even better. They have very good looking and tasting drinks here. Outside of the food the staff was very friendly and the building itself is very trendy. I liked this place quite a bit and will definitely be back again when I visit.

This place has become one of my newest favorite places in the Bay Area. I’ve yet to have a bad experience here. We came on a Sunday with the kiddos and sat inside. Plenty of seating and room for us and the place was packed. I really enjoyed the Mahi Mahi tacos. One of our favorites is the Baked Oysters. So cheesy and oystery good. They have a great, ever changing cocktail menu. The Summer something or-other was very good. I’ve come during the week for client lunches and they have free Valet Parking. Awesome! They make a really mean burger cooked to order. Their meat is fresh and have yet to have it cooked wrong. My other favorite healthy choice is the Chinese Chicken Salad. Its huge and filing with these really great spiced nuts on top. Service is personable and friendly and have treated myself, kids and customers wonderfully. We have this place on heavy rotation.
