Mare Sol

Cute place in lagrange! Food was decent and the watermelon margarita was perfect for cooling off in this hot humid georgia weather.

I am giving Mare Sol and 4-​star review for LaGrange status. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in LaGrange, but I’ve definitely had far better in Atlanta.
The food is sophisticated, and affordable considering what you’re getting. I’ve ALWAYS left with a full stomach, also.
The fish and chips is HUGE!
Veggie panini is tasty with pesto sauce.
The service is not very attentive, they only stop by the table a couple times usually, so if you’re in a hurry, make sure to ask for the check right away. But they have been very friendly every time I’ve been in.

The overall environment is actually really nice. I love the layout of this place. We ordered the lobster dip and it wasn’t the best lobster dip I’ve ever had, but it was good. The main issue with it was they didn’t heat it up all the way through and the center of it was a big cold lump. The chips that were served with the dip were also on the stale side.
For the main course I ordered the Pesto Cream Penne with shrimp and for $ 3 extra I expected more than 4 shrimp. There were also nuts in this dish which I was unaware of and at first they seemed okay but got to be more of an annoyance later on. It was decent otherwise. My boyfriend ordered the Seafood Fettuccine and he really liked it! There was a generous amount of seafood in it as well. Our service was great! Waitress was very attentive. Despite the food being slightly underwhelming I will be back because they had a really great menu and there were a lot of things that I would like to try!

This place was amazing. The atmosphere was amazing! The food was amazing! The prices were good for the quality of food that you get. Who would have thought that such a wonderful gem could be found in downtown LaGrange. I felt like I was at a hip spot in Atlanta. I had the stuffed mushrooms and the greek salad and didn’t regret my choice at all. There are so many yummy looking things on the menu that you could eat here numerous times and have something new to try each time. Will definitely return next time I am in town.

We love this place! You can make it a wonderful spot for a date night or just a great all around hangout location!

We took our college son here at his recommendation and it was wonderful.
The service was perfect — attentive but not overbearing. Even happy enough to bring samples of wine for my wife.
Great selection on beer & wine and the food was as good as we’ve had in the past several years — even for a small town — this place is a standout win.
I can’t wait to go back!

Amazing lobster dip, stuffed mushrooms with lobster, and ziti… the Greek salad that came with the ziti was some of the best we have had! Servers were amazing

We had a company party here and the food was okay. Not bad — not great. I’ll try it again without the big group and see if I have better luck. I will say the staff was great — kept up with us and very pleasant.

Meh… was not wild about this place. The food was ok, nothing standout. Our server was terrible… his appearances at the table were few and far in between. The only saving grace was a female server that checked in on us several times and seemed to light a fire under him to do his job.
I got the Greek salad and was pretty neutral about it. My boss got the Penne Vodka and thought it was just alright — it was spicy without warning.
We dined here simply because we were in the area, but next time I’m out this way I will be giving a different establishment my business.

I’ve eaten here many times and each time I decide to give it a try well get below average service. They need more options on their menu and their service needs a huge amount of help. Many times we have had to ask another wait staff to get something for us as our current one seemed to hang out at the bar and chit chat with the employees — not a good impression.

Love this place! Lots to choose from on the menu, great food, great atmosphere and great service! Definitely one of the better places in Lagrange to eat

Always happy with the quality of food and drinks. Service can be a little slow on busy nights, but that’s because people pack the place some nights. Live music on certain nights is a nice bonus, and usually is soft enough to not drive you away or make you not enjoy your meal. The lobster dip is AWESOME. Daily beer special is a steal, too!

This is as good as it gets in LaGrange! The food is Atlanta Mid-​town quality and the service is not bad. The beer menu is always good here so that would be my 5^th star. In fact it’s the only restaurant in Lagrange that has craft beer. I cant think of much I would change about the place except maybe the lighting (dimmer) and could use some updating.

The food looked amazing but the taste was only alright. It was good but nothing to brag about. The interior was very nice and although the food took a while to come, the server was very nice.

Table for one :-(This place was very good, I will say it feels a little higher end in here and I am a jeans and t-​shirt kinda person… if I cared I would dress up a little more if I went back. This place was recommended to me by someone that lives here, and to get the pimento cheese. I did get it even though once I got there and reviewed the app I had a pretty good feeling it was going to come out warm/​hot and I am usually only a fan of cold pimento cheese. I will say I was presently surprised… it was just above room temperature and the fried pita points that come with it (while not enough to eat all that’s on the plate) really made it taste super yummy. I brought the left over back to the hotel with me… you will taste it for the rest of the day and it will stink up your fridge, but it is VERY tasty. Next I got beef stroganoff… mainly because I was intrigued that it was on a restaurant menu… not sure I have ever seen it in a restaurant before. My mother makes this best of course, but I will say that they did a great job with it here. They do enjoy presentation here, which I get; however, if it looks nice and doesn’t taste good you are wasting your time. The sour cream is not mixed in, it’s a dollop (of Daisy, j/​k) on top with some green onion sprinkled on top. I don’t care for green onion, flipped that off; and I don’t like mushrooms but know that they are crucial to the taste of this dish… so I picked them out. The dish was over a bed of linguine which was perfectly al dente. I do prefer it over egg noodles
comes with a small crunchy piece of bread which was okay but I wasn’t really worried about it. I also got a side of green beans to go with this as I felt I needed a veggie… I could’ve eaten a whole pound of these! They were wonderful, perfectly cooked and seasoned… no salt needed. I felt like splurging this night so I also got a piece of the german chocolate cake to go back to the hotel with. The presentation looked excellent, however, to my dismay the cake was pretty dry; I scraped out the chocolate frosting and coconut layers and ate them. Overall my meal was good and I will probably go back, they seemed to have a good menu. Gyro next maybe.

We’re visiting LaGrange and decided to have dinner at Mare Sol! Soo Good. We opted for the Valentines Dinner. Awesome choice. I had the Tomato Basil Bisque… to die for. Overall this is a lovely establishment and I’m very happy that we dined here. Very reasonably priced.

I’m a regular at Mare-​Sol. Our office is right across the street, so we go there often for lunch, and occasionally walk over after work for a cocktail or dinner. In all the times I’ve eaten there (easily over 50 times in the past few years) I can only remember a handful of times when the food or service wasn’t excellent.

Pleasantly surprised to find good food in LaGrange GA. I had the special, dill seared salmón and it was very good. Nice little bar area and pleasant ambiance overall. Limited but decent wine select.

I’ve been here twice in the past couple of weeks: once for lunch with my roommate and once to listen to my friend’s acoustic set and have drinks (the Moscato was to die for!).
Now, I’m somewhat biased, because two of my friends work here. One of them was our server at lunch. My shrimp and grits was absolutely delicious!
When I went to see the same friend perform the other night (live music on Thursdays!), it took a little while to get drinks because there wasn’t someone always behind the bar. However, instead of being charged for each glass of wine, the server/​bartender just charged me for half the bottle, which was less expensive. Love it!
I’ll be back soon to hear another performance and have some wine and tapas!

A group of idealists are trying to bring a higher quality of food and a better dining experience to LaGrange. That shouldn’t be too hard, since the vast majority of places to eat in this town are fast food or corporate chain restaurants. Just stick to the basics.
I was very impressed with the trendy atmosphere and general layout at Mare Sol. I also liked their beer and wine choices. The service was prompt and polite, and the menu is a careful mix of old favorites for the pickier eaters and some new things to try for the more adventurous. They seem to want to steer you towards the tapas and the pizza (both are very decent), but also do a daily special (which you should ALWAYS get).
There are some good things going on here, just not many bold things going on. But this town isn’t really ready for bold food, in my opinion. Mare Sol is giving them some options to explore, though.
