One of my favorite restaurants. Extremely friendly service, and the food is not only delicious but always beautifully presented. Especially a fan of the curries.

Such a nice change to find a friendly and flavorful place. This is not a cookie cutter bland place that is mirrored in every city. They have such a great seletion of food and it so friendly that I will be coming back for sure.

Best Chinese/Mandarin/Tai in la grange area hands down. Crab Rangoon and orange chicken is the best I’ve ever had.

We tried the panang, the pad Thai, and the dumplings. Dumplings were delish. Everything was a bit mild, so if you like a little heat, be sure to specify. Food was served quickly, our glasses remained full, but no smile. Restaurant has a good vibe.

I’m not sure how to give a ½ star. The food was bad, the owner argued with me about the fact that the spicy fish dish that I asked for a) wasn’t spicy and b) wasn’t supposed to come with a chicken kow gloppy sauce. She even brought out the cook to argue too. Every dish that came from the kitchen was way below average in taste, little protein. Cute place that could use some new skills in the kitchen.

What a surprise to find this gem of a restaurant. Warm and inviting, beautiful décor… The menu is quite large, and perhaps diverse with items for even the finicky palettes. I ordered the Tum Yum soup, hot and spicy with shrimp. Delivered promptly and hot enough to scald the taste buds right off your tongue. A little spicy and very flavorable. Up next was the hot and spicy squid. A delicious blend of veggies(red & green bell pepper, onions, cilantro) and squid cooked(in a wok?) In a delicate sauce. This is a dish that you spoon over rice onto your plate. The name suggests fire & heat, far from the truth, but«WOW» the spices will awaken your taste buds to remarkable flavors!!! All things said, this is a family run small business… these are your friends and neighbors, cooking their special meals for you. You will not be disappointed… great foods in a welcoming setting. Go enjoy!!!

I’ve been to Yao’s a half dozen times over the last 8 years or so when I’m in La Grange and want good but not over-priced Thai, The atmosphere is great — very peaceful and zen. It’s never been crowded when I have been there. The service is good. I just like the food and the ambiance. Also, getting a hot towel to wash my hands and face after a meal is a nice touch.

My boyfriend is first generation Thai so he’s EXTREMELY familiar with the authenticity of the tastes ! This place is brings me back to The Land of Smiles, I have yet to pick something on the menu that I am not crazy about ! What a gem of a restaurant, located off the tracks of Lagrange BNSF train station, with a quaint and cozy atmosphere !

My family and I have all come to an agreement that this is the best Chinese food we have ever gotten. The servers are very polite and the place is very nicely decorated, Small and cute. Every Time I go there I get the orange chicken and it is delicious! It’s nice and crispy and the sauce is just so good. My family enjoys a lot of their other food and I defiantly would recommend this place to anybody.

We usually get Thipi Thai or Moy Goy, but for some reason we decided to try Yau’s. We ordered the dinner for two. It is by far the worst Chinese and Thai food I have ever had. Everything was smothered in a thick, gelatinous, and foul-tasting sauce. The fried items were almost all dough. I’m going to have a bowl of cereal instead of taking another bite.

I walked by this place with a friend and decided to try it out. We were the only ones in the restaurant at 8 o clock, that usually is a bad sign for me but I decided to try it out anyway. Place looked very nice and clean, lots of knick knacks. the shrimp red curry was DELICIOUS! and the pad tthai wasn’t bad either. Big big suprise on the quality of food served here highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I rely heavily on Unilocal reviews before deciding where to eat, so I like to pay it forward and help others find the gems and avoid the duds. Yau’s Place is a gem for sure. We wanted Chinese after a day of driving and wandering around the zoo in the cold and he hit upon this place during a Unilocal search. It wasn’t too far from Brookfield Zoo. The restaurant is small, quaint, and extremely warm since the heat was on and blowing all over us. That part I didn’t like. We started with veggie spring rolls and chicken Tom Yum soup. Both were DELICIOUS! I’d never had that soup but I would definitely get it again. The flavors of ginger, cilantro, onions, mushrooms, etc. came together perfectly. The veggie spring rolls were light and crispy and seasoned just right. Our entrees came out and were visually as pleasing as the taste. He had the hot pepper chicken, which he enjoyed and I ordered my usual chicken lo mein dish; however what came to the table was not your ordinary, average chicken lo mein. It was so much better! A heaping mound of stir-fried chicken and veggies(broccoli, snow peas, bamboo shoots, etc) in a light colored sauce which I’m guessing was a garlic sauce of some kind, on top of what looked like thin ramen noodles. It was so different that what I’m used to seeing I almost thought I got the wrong thing. But it was delicious. Even the fortune cookies were good. My boyfriend liked it because it reminded him of the fortune cookies from back in the day. My preference is for the lighter, crispier cookies that are more popular today, but it was still good. Overall a great dining experience.

Can I just saw YUMMMMMM?! Great place, chill, non assuming, cool/funny waiter and most importantly amazing food! Everything that we ordered was excellent but these two plates stood out: Smelt Fish with Thai Spicy & Panang Chicken Curry. I’m definitely going back for some more!

This place is a gem. The décor is nice and not garish and red. The owners and waitstaff are super friendly. The presentation is leaps and bounds better than anything surrounding this area… carved veggie garnishes, China, warm towels at the end of the meal. The food is outstanding no matter if you prefer Thai or Chinese. While you may not get a bucket of mediocre food you get an ample serving of delicious and beautifully presented food. Give it a shot.

Singapore style noodles were great and the curry was really great, but portion was small for the price. Also asked for veg fried rice with beef and broccoli instead of white rice. When picking up they had a full order at full price and said you can’t substitute. Great food but just not an overall value.

Past Sunday, I ordered out. Good tasting food, friendly guy, no delivery, but the portion for the price was quite small. For two dinners and a cucumber salad we paid over thirty dollars… not sure if I’m going to order again.

Amazing food!!! Their Thai fried rice is delicious, they have the best egg rolls I’ve ever had in my life and so much other good stuff. I get lunch from here often and got my entire office to fall in love too!

Yuck! We ordered take-out from Yao’s and it was not good. My husband’s BBQ Pork Fried Rice was the only thing that was worth eating. I ordered the Veggie Delight and the vegetables were so soggy and mushy, like they had been floating in that brown gelatinous sauce for days. No amount of hot sauce could mask the fact that the mushrooms tasted like they were from a can. The portions are very large, which is one plus. Oh, and my daughter liked her chicken soup with noodles, but how can you mess that up? There are better Thai places out there.

When one relocates, an important and serious must have is good Chinese food. And I found mine, and I’d fist bump Buddha right now if he cooked it. But, he did not. The Yau dynasty does, and they do it quite nicely. I opted for my old stand by of Kung Pao Chicken and I was delighted with right sized bits of stir fried chicken, bell peppers, celery, onions, mushrooms, savory lush sauce, and lots and lots of peanuts! The spice combo here is exceptional, and as others mentioned it is cooked with very little msg, mostly a righteous spice combo and fresh veggies and meat. Generous portions, enough for two for dinner to go. And fortune cookies, easy parking in front, and right by their front door they have a library of cool books. Nice service, great food! Can’t wait to try their cashew chicken! I bow to Yau!
