We have tried every Chinese takeout spot in La Grange and this place is THEBEST! Everything is freshly made. The ingredients are wholesome and simple. The chicken is thick and meaty. I love everything on the menu!!! Great quality food. A true gem.

Probably one of the best Chinese takeout we’ve had in the western suburbs. Always fresh vegetables and good service. Give yourself plenty of time as they are very busy on weekends so place your order early. Orange chicken is family favorite.

Top Chinese food this side of the Mississippi, Moy Goy offers excellent food at solid prices. The pork fried rice is fantastic — unlike any I’ve had elsewhere. Dark pieces of pork, with salt and flavor in each bite. Definitely a «hole in the wall», but one I’ve been going to for over 30 years… and I’ve NEVER had a disappointing meal!

Absolute best Chinese I’ve ever had anywhere in the states! Cash only carry out only, but so worth it! I’m waiting for them to open right now so I can call in an order of sesame chicken and pork fried rice. My family have been loyal customers for close to 30 years and will continue to be for many years to come.

Hands down the better Chinese food in the area. Moy Goy might define hole in the wall dining but it doesn’t adhere to the preconceptions of it. I ordered orange chicken, and that’s exactly what I got, for 11.50(the large order) I got a brown paper bag with at least three meals worth of rice and chicken. The orange sauce tasted like they made it in house, a pleasant change from your standard sauce, certainly made with fresh orange. It is cash only, but the service was quick and to the point, but my order wasn’t hard to fill. Compared to other Chinese food in the area, this is the place I will be going back to.

There is no mistaking Moy Goy as anything but a carry out joint. There are just a couple of tables inside and the décor is utilitarian… no ambiance to speak of. As others have noted, it’s cash only and Eben if you call ahead, they don’t begin cooking before you arrive. In slower times of the day, I probably would just show up and order there. I ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch special. The portion size was in the ginormous category. I think even a person with a big appetite could get leftovers for dinner from this. The food itself was very good. The beef had some real heat — not watered down much at all for the American palate. The egg roll was also large and good. It was filled with cabbage, tiny shrimp, small pieces of pork, and a little bit of peanut butter. A nice example of the genre. My only complaint about the food is that the Mongolian Beef was pretty salty, and there is no way to get that horse back into the barn. I also wish they had an online menu and began cooking before arrival. Oh yeah, cash only joints are thankfully becoming rare. They might see an increase in business if they start accepting them. Overall, a very solid takeout option. I definitely recommend it if you have a few bucks in your wallet.

I’ve been ordering from Moy Goy since the Late 60s and nothing has changed. The food is fresh, tasty and excellent! Prices are reasonable. Highly recommend

Love the food except the curry. Too salty, who has good curry in this area? Spicy mustard is great and always get the large shrimp and pineapple fried rice.

Best Chinese food in the area. The menu is the same as Magic Wok and the price is better.**CASH only business**

It’s a bit out of our way, but our favorite Chinese takeout on the drive home from work is Moy Goy. It’s always freshly prepared and flavorful, with generous portions.

This is our absolutely favorite Chinese take out restaurant. We find the food consistently excellent and love the beef fried rice. Would highly recommend.

Ran in here last night for some takeout. Ordered fried wonton(too greasy), beef chop suey(not enough beef and the beef was rather tough), and mushu(I have definitely had better). The potential for great food is there so I plan on going back soon to try a couple of the lunch specials. Maybe the problems I encountered were just with what I happened to order last night. But, based on last night’s dinner, if I were ordering the same thing again, I would go back to the Magic Wok. I will post another review after I have tried lunch and some other dishes!

I have been going here since we moved to La Grange and it was recommend as great Chinese restaurant. Since then it is our«Go To» Place for Chinese food. Usually very consistent although when it is just good it is better than the best in La Grange. When it is better than good it is awesome! If they can figure out what they do when they food is awesome and duplicate that I would have given them 5 stars.

We’ve been here a few times and while it isn’t the greatest ‘American Chinese’ food out there, it’s only a block from our house… so that is a good thing. Unfortunately this last experience we ordered and we had quite a bit of food and it was OK tasting(on-par with previous experiences) BUT… we both ended up with food poisoning. :/Nausea, vomiting, etc, etc… not fun and been going on for 2~2.5 days. Not fun and we wont be back…

Hands down the best chinese food for miles around. They only take cash, and I don’t think they actually start preparing your order until you walk in the door despite calling it in a half hour ahead, but I can live with that. Very fresh, well prepared, and large portions. Delicious.

Good Chinese food, huge portions, low price. What’s not to like? The only cons I see are they don’t take credit cards, and they don’t deliver. If our friends would not have recommended the place we’d never have gone in, because you cant even tell it’s a restautant from the outside. We usually get the Sesame Chicken and the Sweet N Sour Chicken. We like them so much we don’t bother to try anything different. THe lunch special is nice, you get an egg roll and the price is super cheap. And by the way, who calls an Asian restaurant and asks for directions anymore? We’ve got the internet and GPS nowadays. Next time google it!

What a Chinese restaurant that doesn’t do dine-in or delivery? Well, they make up for that by offering my favorite vegetarian dish, Ma Po Tofu, very spicy and generous in tofu and quantity. The firm tofu is not fried and the sauce is flavorful. They have an awesome, non-greasy shrimp fried rice. It’s not much to look out the store front simply serves as a public place to sit and wait while you wait to pick up your order. Someone mentioned the owner’s accent being to thick to understand. That’s a valid observation yet unfair in the sense that she does in fact make a gallant attempt at speaking English and has a strong understanding of it. With all that said, you’ll find fresh ingredients, crunchy vegetables and solid offerings of traditional Chinese here.

Not that good. Although the reviews were lacking, I was hoping to experience something unexpected for the price. Guess I am jaded. I had the shrimp with pepper and onions. To their merit, there were a good number of big, de-veined shrimp for the price. Beyond that there was just a ton of square chunks of onion and green pepper stir fried in black bean sauce. I guess if I was really craving onions and peppers this would be a screaming deal, instead I found myself throwing the excess away… something I hate doing. Now the real weak point wasnt the overly large portion of bland food, instead it was the atrocious eggroll. First off, it smelled(and tasted) like McDonalds french fries! I hate those chains, so thats an immediate turn –off. Even worse was the mushy filling that seemed to have mayonnaise in it. Just gross. If it wasnt for the eggroll I would’ve given them a 2nd chance, but once is definitely enough for me. Overall, nothing special unless you just want a ton of bland-to-gross food for a Taco Bell price. I’ll stick with the creativity, freshness, and human-sized inexpensive portions at Yau’s for my Chinese cravings in La Grange.
