We didn’t get to try it, because they closed at 6:30 pm on Saturday. What is the idea of closing an ice cream shop in a tourist town on a Saturday before 9 pm? Even 8 pm — to get the after dinner crowd — would make sense. Off to the gelato place down the street, which is sensibly open til 10 pm.

My wife ordered a single scoop of DRYERS ice cream in a waffle cone, and it was $ 7. Now, there’s nothing wrong with plain ol’ DRYERS, but for $ 7… CMON! I was shocked. I really wanted to give this place a shot, but it’s a total RIPOFF. Walk down any block in Laguna, and you will find PREMIUM frozen desserts like gourmet ice cream, gelato, and yogurt for MUCHLESS. $ 7 for one scoop of Dryers in a cheap generic waffle cone. NEVERAGAIN! The Dryers ice cream wasn’t even frozen properly. Instead of being creamy, it was ICY and chunky, like it was melted and refrozen dozens of times. It’s a shame such a bad place exists in the most desirable location in the area. You should be able to walk into a mom and pop shop like this and feel good about giving them business, but not when they deliberately insult the consumer with their ridiculous prices. I expected a scoop of bad Dryers to be $ 2 – 4 at most like at any other mom n pop ice cream shop in America.

I really can’t hate on ice cream, but serving Dreyer’s at a premium is pretty much a let down. The location is fantastic, right across the street from the beach, I mean who does not want ice cream while at the beach?!! The store is pretty old and run down looking, tons of flavors to chose from, but all by Dreyer’s, so I passed. My son had a scoop, just under $ 5 is insane for such poor quality, freezer burn, not even a big portion. While he did enjoy it, I would much rather spend my money on quality and something homemade next time, not worth returning.

Chantilly is a perfect example of a place that should be on kitchen nightmares. Ice cream — this is simply Dreyers ice cream but the worst part is it’s already melting the moment they hand it to you. Service — they treat you like they hate you. Price — prepare the Benjamins because it’s about 3 times more expensive than it should be. I wish I had read the Unilocal reviews before coming here. On the plus side, it’s pretty interesting to experience a place this bad.

BEWARE — Tourist Trap!!! Read Unilocal reviews! Prices are not clearly marked. Ice cream is way overpriced… two scoops with regular waffle cone for $ 8.75. On top of that they have the WORST customer service ever! All we ask is to add a second scoop and this blond chick gave us an attitude which is pretty obvious. If you don’t like your job then don’t work there. Asking for 1 more scoop should not trouble her… it can only gain since we have to pay more. Ice cream melts before we can even eat it. It is by far the worst Pineapple coconut I’ve ever had. DONOTCOMEHERE!!! Unilocal elsewhere… trust Unilocal reviews!!!

Now while I was a-walkin down the street, I started craving me somethin cold and sweet. When I came in, it was 7 in the evening and quiet. The girl who helped me was quite friendly and kind, and she didn’t rush me at all! The gentleman from Kentucky on the other hand, came off as a lil rude. But I guess I would be cranky too if I were workin’ in an ice cream store and was possibly working a long shift. Any who, I was going to get me some ice cream, but saw that they had a Pina Colada smoothie. And I love me some Pina Colada. Because I’m Old Man Unilocal. So I got it, and the polite young lady made a lil extra and offered it to my two traveling companions. We all quite enjoyed it. Thank you Chantilly Ice Cream! You will see me again some time in the future…

Nothing special. Just plain ice cream — no special flavors. Just SUPER overpriced for their location and for all the tourists. We got the mango sorbet and the mocha coffee something(can’t remember). Also, it’s cash only and no seats available in t he store(just a shade under the tree right outside the shop)

They don’t accept any credit or debit cards… cash only. It costs $ 2.50 for the ATM… plus most banks charge 2 or 3 bucks when u use an ATM out of network. So the cheap skate, low tech, owners of this ice cream shop would rather see us spend $ 5 bucks just to pull out some cash, then accept the fact that people use credit cards… which would only cost them 30 cents. Plus the ice cream is just Dryers and it’s $ 5 bucks a scoop.

Rude staff. My 6 year old changed his mind about having fudge in his Sunday and the guy helping us was incredulous. Refused to throw out ONE scoop of ice cream and was adamant that we take it. Won’t go there again and I’m a local.

Pricey, cash ONLY and not so great from other ice cream shops we have in OC. We got their brownie sundae($ 8.25). Small brownie chunk with one scoop of ice cream of your choice with whip cream and cherry on top. My falafel wrap from Adonis was cheaper than my dessert. There are plenty of outdoor benches available and inside the store there are only counter bars with no table/chair to sit. Main annoyance is the overly priced ice cream and cash only place. Not getting my scoop here.

Pricey and ok. The location made it worth stopping by. We ordered a small sundae for around $ 7. It was big enough to split between 2. It melted fast, despite the cold night air. The service was ok. Seemed irritated we had multiple orders since we came with family. Not sure I would come back.

I don’t see why this place is so famous — they don’t even make their own ice cream. It’s just Okay.

This place has good ice cream and a decent selection of flavors. Customer service is pretty good. What is really going for them is location. Right across the street from main beach — very prime spot! If I’m in the area and feel like ice cream I go here. Some cons is that they only accept cash(at least last I knew) and it is expensive. I know that one should expect high prices at this location, but still doesn’t make me like it haha.

Prime location, but overpriced ice cream and treats. I’ve just come here once when I was in the area, and wish that I had read some of the other reviews before stopping by at this store. It’s a pretty convenient location, but I do have to say they do charge a lot for what they sell. For example, a frozen banana dipped in chocolate with nuts set me back $ 5. That’s more expensive than Disneyland! However, only half of the banana was covered in nuts! The other half was just chocolate! They do this to all of them too because we ordered 3 and they were all prepared the same way. Taste wasn’t awful, but there are probably better places for ice cream in the area than this one. Read the Unilocal reviews. I have to say that for a majority of the opinions here, I would have to agree with what most people say.

Ice cream was melted before we started eating. Not to mention some old lady comes up and asks. Are you ordering? I say yes… So she said OK, then I want… And she places her order. The girl behind the counter took her order and just ignored us. WTF! So I promised my kids ice cream, but I am not going there again. Horrible customer service and your ice cream is mush. Disappointed!!! But then again… It is Laguna Beach.

Don’t eat this Ice cream! Must read this! I chose one star, because you can’t select zero. As a local, I never go to this store because the service is lousy and they sell way over priced Dreyers ice cream. It’s a tourist trap. What I saw today took my view of this place to a new low. While eating at the restaurant next store, I was peering in to the window and witnessed two of the girls that work behind the counter eating the ice cream with spoons. They were double and triple dipping in to the ice cream repeatedly with the same spoon. This is the same ice cream they serve to customers! Disgusting and disgraceful.

3 stars, because even though the service was not that great(a little unfriendly and impersonal) at least the ice cream was good. I had dulce de leche ice cream. Pretty good. A little pricey. OH. and it’s cash only.

Pricey, cash only, with no sitting area and horrible service! How is this even possible! With such a great location, they should have a line out the door. There is a reason they don’t. Given the fact that they are serving average ice cream and providing no service at all, they should have average prices. We got a two scoops cone and a fudge muffin for $ 18. Ouch! Never again.

It is off peak season, I think you can lower your prices on ice cream. Seriously, $ 5.00 for a scoop or premade ice cream?! Never again. Such a waste of money, not to mention the cookies in my cookies and cream were stale. It’s sad when I can spend the same amount of money at a place that makes FRESH ice cream to order. You would think since they only take cash they wouldn’t need to make such a profit since they don’t have to pay for any machines or anything. This place should really pay attention to it’s reviews. You have a perfect location with crappy ice cream… it taste old.
