I stumbled upon this restaurant while spending the day in Laguna. Literally, it was the smell of the food from two doors down that drew me in! I loved the ambiance of the restaurant and it was very clean, very well managed. Service was efficient. We had drinks and enjoyed a delicious meal at the bar. I had the chicken penne and it was phenomenal. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the serving was generous. My boyfriend ordered the sirloin and literally said it was one of the best steaks he’s ever had! The cut was soo thick and still somehow the chef cooked it perfectly to order. It was served with a super crispy, buttery and cheesy au gratin. So bomb! Major props to the people working in the kitchen DELICIOUS! Parking is tough in Laguna, but there are pay lots and Meters on the street. This will likely be the restaurant I frequent when I’m in Laguna

We had Valentine’s Day reservations and arrived on time and where promptly seated. Full bar had an ample selection of drinks for both of our tastes. We shared a wedge salad and zucchini app. Both where on par with any other restaurant. My date ordered the beef stroganoff which she said was one of the best with the fresh pasta and flavorful sauce. I had the 10oz filet which was cooked correctly at MR and the Au gratin potatoes where amazing! Wrong veggies came out but they promptly corrected it. The building is pretty cool on the outside and the inside has a normal dark wood tones of a steakhouse.

Tis an evening for lovers, and one of the very special places you could go in o.c. would be to The Lumberyard. Nestled inside Laguna Beach you’ll find this decedent five star restaurant. We have been here a few times and has become one of our favorite restaurants too go to on special occasions. Yes, bring your wallet, but it’s well worth it. We started off evening with Tolosa Cabernet, a wedge blue cheese salad and Caesar salad. For the main meal we had the rotisserie chicken and espresso rubbed ribeye. The entire meal was completely wonderful, and cooked to perfection. And of course, we ended the meal with a fantastic crème brûlée. We’ve always received excellent service from the staff, and the ambience of the lumberyard, makes this a must for all occasions. If you have the opportunity to visit the lumberyard, I highly recommend it. Five stars.

I made a dinner reservation for my boyfriends birthday January 30th for 5:30. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server OMAR was so nice and friendly. Very attentive to our needs. Always had a smile and positive attitude. The restaurant overall is very nice. The décor was amazing! There was about 3 flat screen TVs where we were sitting. Had a perfect view of the basketball game. The food everyone else was ordering looked so delicious! Made me want to try everything everyone else was ordering. With that being said what my boyfriend and I ordered was also Delicious. I didn’t think my plate would fill me up but it defiantly did. For starters I ordered the shrimp and lobster rolls. For my main course I ordered the baby back ribs and switched the sweet potatoes for regular fries. The plate also had a side of coleslaw. I’m not a big fan of coleslaw but this one was by far the best I’ve had. My boyfriend likes coleslaw and really Enjoyed this one too. He ordered the New York steak well done. It came with spinach and a side of Mac and cheese. The steak was delicious and very well prepared! The Mac and cheese was also delicious! So make sure to order it as a side dish if your plate does not Come with Mac and cheese. He also enjoyed the spinach. My only complain would be the parking. We could not find the back free parking mentioned. We ended up parking around the corner and paid $ 3. The sign said $ 3 for the entire day but we were only there for about 2 hours so that’s better than using the meter sticks.

Started coming here for lunch, and I always walk in and sit at the bar so I don’t have a comment on the service except to say the bartender is quick with the menus and ordering, very friendly and polite even though I never order drinks. The burgers are delicious, have great flavor. The salads are excellent and the chicken on them is good. Sometimes I wish there was just a little more. For diner I do the same thing, avoiding all the people at the hostess stand, I sit at the bar. I get good service there. The salmon is cooked perfectly, the salads fresh, and for dinner I choose a beer from a good set of choices.

Food was blah, service is very slow. Waitress nowhere to be found. Manager standing watching the football game instead of doing his job.

First restaurant I’ve been to with service so slow the host had to take my order and close out my bill. Not once was I waited on or even knew who my server was. I ordered the French Onion Soup and it was too salty, I had to eat my serving of bread to just be somewhat satiated. Lumberyard can definitely do better than this. I’ve been here plenty of times.

Note to self… share a meal… they are enormous! I ordered the French Dip and my friend the hamburger. The French Dip stands out among my top 3 favorites. Lazy Dog has the best but this one is nipping at their heels. There were no side salads to start with which I found disappointing. The bread served to start was cold and the butter as well. Hard to spread as a result. I really like warm bread so that’s a personal preference and to me not a negative on the restaurant. Service was prompt and pleasant. I wish either the water glasses were larger, they leave a pitcher or check more often. I’m a serious water hound so this is important to me. The French Dip alone would bring me back. Bathrooms were clean and the overall ambiance lovely. I would definitely return.

We dined here twice and in each case thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. Go early for happy hour and order their zucchini planks. The best fried zucchini we had! My wife ordered their filet on both occasions and said it was better then those more expensive steak restaurants. I had fish and it was great. We’ll be back.

Having visited lumberyard so many times(well over50) I’m still amazed every time I eat here how fresh and tasty the food is! Calamari and poke appetizers are my 2 goto’s. Top notch cedar plank salmon and filet mignon are definately my two favorite entrees but even the chicken and sole are great too. the whole menu is good Great place to watch a game at the bar too wings are a must if u get there for happy hour.

So considering this is one of the first places to pop up when you type in bar they were really rude about us just ordering drinks at the table(maybe they wanted us to sit at the bar but I prefer the table to be able to talk easily) we saw the hostess and our server clearly talking about us or making comments and our server seemed annoyed that we just ordered drinks. As a table who was easy to serve and tipped well it was disappointing and convinced us to not order a second round

Cool find! We went there for a post work activity lunch… because of our group size, we decided on a pre-set reduced menu to choose from. Although all 4 items selected looked good, I landed on the Salmon. It was served with a side of boiled potatoes… a bit blackened and with some very flavorful seasonings. It was fantastic. We also had three of their appetizers. calamari, artichoke dip, and the onion rings. All three were very tasty. Our server was great, location worked out perfect, and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely try again!

they took our party of 12 last minute. restaurants was pretty crowded. good service. split a french dip and mac and cheese. wish the horseradish had more zing. mac was real good. super rich. food was probably a 3.5 but need to round up for their staff putting up with our annoying drunk party.

Tucked in here to get out of a rainstorm and decided to see what their happy hour was like. It’s like I entered Hansel & Gretel’s cottage, but once you enter its full of deep dark woods, long beam rafters, coffered ceilings and black granite counters. On to the food and cocktails, what really matters. Beer on tap is decent with about a dozen beers to choose from. Wine list has a good variety. I got a great Pinot — not on the happy hour list of course. Happy Hour wines are listed as house wine… you never know what you get with this, except a headache. Ordered a hummus trio off the Happy Hour menu for $ 6, and an amazing dish I might say. Homemade hummus and huge fresh sliced vegetables. A nice tie over until dinner. Service was great. Again we love to sit at the bar. So it is a different experience!

Not too bad. Had a pesto chicken sandwich which I finished. It was pretty good! Outdoor seating was fine, but there were a ton of bees which I hated. Iced tea was good.

I ate here for my first time and was thoroughly impressed with the food. I’ve always walked by this restaurant but never eaten here until yesterday. The menu has food for everyone’s palate — steak, pasta, seafood, burgers, etc. I ordered the chicken pot pie and it was pretty good. Not as creamy and rich as Marie Callendar’s chicken pot pie, but it’s definitely tasted homemade. One friend ordered the beef stroganoff and said the beef wasn’t that good by itself but the pasta was perfect. So he said you have to eat a piece of beef along with pasta in the same bite :) Another ordered the ahi tuna sandwich which looked like a burger in appearance and tasted pretty light and flavorful. The hummus appetizer was alright but the clam chowder was savoring. Definitely get a cup of clam chowder when you eat here! The beers on draft are nice and I had 2 different IPA’s. I’ll definitely be back here many times to try the other stuff on the menu!
