Mediocre food. I ordered the Crab cakes. Not even close. The champagne was cold, big plus for me. The view was amazing. For me, was worth the view. The food and service were not good. Took too long for anything, to take order, bring food or the bill.

Came for drinks and appetizers on a Sunday afternoon. Alfredo was amazing and had great service, Ashley gave good service but a very terrible attitude. After we got the check she came by 5 times to see if we had finished signing, felt super rushed.

Went into the OceanView for breakfast. The service was good. We got our drinks right away and our order was taken right away. The food came out fast. The food was good and hot. We were brought everything we needed with our food. The server made sure we had everything. Not to many times but enough to feel they were doing their jobs. The breakfast here is great, lots of selections. What a great view of the ocean while eating. The tables were clean and seemed well taken care of. All in all the breakfast was a good experience. I would recommend this place for a good breakfast! the price was a bit tall for the food but the view makes up for that.

Attended a wedding reception here last night. Had a great time at the wedding and with the wedding party and guests but… Bar Service, or lack there of, left a very sour taste in my mouth. The«bartender» didn’t have a name tag, was probably in his 50’s, white guy with grey hair. He was so rude and condescending when he spoke to my fiancée and I. When my fiancée first got a round of drinks(one beer and wine for us) WITH her coworkers, he only requested to see her ID out of the group of 6 other ladies she was with(AGEDISCRIMINATION at its Finest). After a while my fiancée and I went back to just get another beer and glass of wine with another one of our friends that was in the original group that initially ordered drinks with. We were clearly together, and the bartender served our friend and gave her TWO bottles of beer. KEEPINMIND my fiancée and I are the ONLYOTHERPEOPLEATTHETINYBAROUTOFTHEENTIREGUESTLIST besides our friend we walked up with right in front of us got TWO beers under the Open Bar wedding tab… He tells us, «just to let you two know, from now on its a cash bar» as we are still standing with our friend. So we didn’t mind, we figured we can still get a beer and glass of wine and any drinks after that since we were the only ones at the bar, were to be paid for. NOPE… He meant even though you 3 people came up together, and I just served 1 person in the group 2 drinks, my fiancée and I had to pay for the drinks we wanted.(THEBARWASNTEVENBUSY) and the back was still halfway stacked with the bottled beer and wine that was under the open bar tab… Either way as we stood there. He should have let us know hey only 2 beers left or how about, since there are only 3 people oh, open bar is closed. Nope. Probably had a thing against young people. At that point we were upset but didn’t want to argue or make it a big deal since we were at a good friends wedding, and the entire wedding was pretty small. So we said we will pay, but since we were paying for drinks we decided to order mixed drinks since it appeared he had a large selection, and the«bartender» even told us, «yes I make mixed drinks.» So my fiancée asks for a «Sex on the beach» because she wanted something fruity. The bartender then tells us quote: «I don’t know how to make that. Do you? Someone once asked me for that drink a year ago, but I didn’t know how to make it and never learned how» wow… NEVERCOMINGBACKTOTHISSORRYEXCUSEFOR A «BAR» ANDGRILL. Horrible service. Will not recommend to any friends or family. I will actually go out of my way to tell people I know how horrible our bar experience it was.

Spent my Saturday morning at brunch at the OceanView Bar and Grill located inside Hotel Laguna. This place promises(and delivers) on spectacular views of the ocean and its inhabitants. Although the view directly below are people sunbathing, we lucked out on the cooler day, so no one was really out there in our view. It’s quite windy and can be cold, but there are plenty of umbrellas should it be hot. For brunch I opted for the lox bagel assortment. I found it odd that it was trendy here in Laguna to assemble the bagel myself, but it was fine. I also found it unusual that there should be diced egg in it, but it definitely left an interesting flavor and twist to my bagel. The lox was fresh and the bagel was delicious, so for $ 12USD, couldn’t really complain.(You pay for the view obviously.) The coffee was a bit lacking, but the cups were cool to watch the creamer float around before mixing. Not too much else to say about this place, the Ocean View area does seem a bit small for large crowds, but the shoreline is full of bars and restaurants so if you’re trying to get in a view, it’ll be just fine. The valet parking will set you back a few dollars, but it’s much easier than trying to find street parking! Not bad.

I am strictly rating the Happy Hour! You seriously can’t beat 50% off Happy Hour Drinks and Apps with an ocean view. I’ve been here a few times with friends from out of town and they love it. You can take the back staircase to the beach after eating and hang out for a bit. The valet charge is $ 3 with the validation of the restaurant and that is good for up to 2 hours. Happy Hour is only Monday — Friday 3:30pm — 5:30pm. I definitely recommend trying it out at least once. The appetizers we tried were the Nachos with Steak which was pretty much what you imagine from a bar, a huge stack of nachos with a lot of toppings. We also had the Crab Cakes, which were awesome! Comes with 4 good sized cakes with a small Arugula salad on the side. And lastly we tried the Calamari Fritti which was pretty standard too. Me personally, i’m not a huge huge fan of Calamari but my friends were eating them up like they haven’t eaten in days. The staff are very friendly. The waiters(waitresses too) always make you feel at home. Any time I have come I have received a good place to sit. Even if you sit outside, there is plenty of shade from all the umbrellas.

The valet marked everywhere that the my car was damaged when it clearly wasn’t just to keep them safe. We suspect they actually scratched it, cause I believe some of those spots weren’t there Anyways, The reviews below and atop me are completely right this place is all location. We know the view is going to be amazing its literally 30 feet from water, and located on the beach. The foggy mornings and beautiful sunsets have served as images for my social medias. The real question is; How is the food? The food is not mind blowing good but also not this is trash bad. The food deserves a solid 3 star. Their dinner menu is not to shabby the real problem is the breakfast. I usually order the pancakes it tastes kinda bland and soggy. As for the dinner menu I create my own steak(I get ½ of beef patty cooked well done). I have to give them props on the fries they are really well seasoned and taste really good. All and all they get a 4 on dinner, but a sad 2 on breakfast leading them a solid 3 for food.

Disclaimer, if you are from out of town going for the view alone it’s worth it. If you are a local don’t go. The service was terrible. The place was over filled with tables and chairs. My girlfriend and I who are thin athletic people could barely get into our chair, let alone find our table seeing as the hostess basically ran to the table without us and dropped our menus off and left before we could catch up. When we were seated we were constantly being hit by those around us. Then our server came and took our orders for drinks and came out with obviously the wrong drink for my girlfriend. She ordered the Acai Sangria and quite obviously got the Surfrider. It was bright yellow and tasted like pineapple rather than being dark purple like red wine and Acai would be. Plus there was no taste of alcohol; if you don’t believe she’s at least 21 ask for her ID rather than giving her a virgin drink. When confronted, the waitress denied it was wrong and refused to take it back. This wasn’t just us either, the table beside us got wine they claim they didn’t order and behind us the table got the wrong appetizers and each time we heard the same thing from the waitress«no, this is what you ordered.» What’s the common denominator? Not to mention, what happened to the customer is always right? At the end of the day the view was beautiful and the company was good and we had a great time. Unfortunately that means these issues won’t get resolved because the bad service is surpassed by the location. For this reason, I’m giving them a single star, not because we had a bad time but because the only reason we had a good time was because we chose to make it such, while the staff was weighing us down.

Stopped by here late one Sunday afternoon. I’ll admit the hostess was a bit snooty and not the friendliest but regardless of that we had a great dinner. We waited about 5 minutes until we got seated. My son had a burger which he loved, I got the nachos which were decent. The best was dessert –chocolate cake which we shared. Amazing! The views were beautiful.

Nice ambience, cute setting and nice servers. Food is just ok. The appetizers are better than the entrees. I recommend the calamari fritti and crab cakes. I tried the seafood pasta and the Thai red snapper and they were both meh. The portions are large though.

Great place to grab lunch, with an ocean view. They have tvs in the bar area so you’ll never miss a game. They allows dogs, which is always a huge plus for me. Enjoyed a craft beer and a pizza with my Pomeranian and a friend.

Location, location, location. Famous words coined by every business owner in America. This is definitely what this restaurant has going for it. Don’t get me wrong, the food here is very good, but it’s just a prop for what you get when seated outside on this huge sundeck terrace. The beautiful and grand Pacific Ocean waves crash at your feet as far as your eyes can see. On this clear day Catalina Island looked so close I felt I could swim there. The smell of the salt water was intoxicating. This is all good so far and we haven’t even been given menus. As you enter the Hotel Laguna you must walk down this long hallway to get to the Oceanview Bar and Grill. Don’t scamper down this hallway no matter how hungry you are. Stroll through this section of the hotel and take in the photos of Laguna Beach the last 100 years. They are amazing. Worth the price if admission — which so far has been FREE. The food at this restaurant is very good. Better than most hotel restaurants but that could be because of the view; I’m not sure. I could go through what we had and how it was concocted but there is only one comment here to be made: The portions are HUGE. Unless your very hungry, pay the $ 3.00 plate sharing charge and you will be very happy and content. The bar makes great drinks and the service is friendly and professional. Take your camera(which now a days means take your phone) and I’m sure you will end up taking some incredible shots.

We stopped in for a bite to hold us over before going to the Pageant of the Masters and after spending a couple of hours at the Sawdust Festival. My husband ordered a fairly expensive crab cake appetizer thinking for the price it would be more crab and prepared well. He was sorely disappointed… four crab cakes, perfectly round and exactly the same size on a bed of well dressed arugula with a zig zag drizzle of citrus aioli on each cake looked appetizing enough. When the first bite was in his mouth and he was mid chew, the waiter came over to ask how it tasted… should have known. It’s almost as if they want you to shrug them off before you actually taste the food but they want the verification that it’s ‘good’. This was not good. These were obviously frozen or made ahead or made with a crab purée because they were the most pasty doughy wretched balls of crab we’ve ever tasted. The saving grace was the tasty aioli and the salad was delicious. The amount of dressing was perfect. One star for the salad. The sweetness of the aioli almost made the crab cake taste and feel like a dessert. Awful. I ordered the hummus and pita app. Not bad but it was enough hummus for 5 people. It was topped with really tasty green onion and tomato. One star for my dish! There are probably some absolutely wonderful dishes here. The crab cakes were not one of them. You can also tell when the waiter doesn’t ask how it was when he takes away your plate, but because my hubby was hungry and always belongs to the clean plate club no matter how badly the food tastes, our waiter must have thought he had another satisfied customer. Not so…, The view was absolutely spectacular and we suspect was factored into the cost of the meal! Mother Nature got the three remaining stars this place did not earn.

Dining right on the beach and watching gorgeous ocean view… Nice! They have great outdoor patio seating area with umbrella for the shade and heater for ocean breeze at night. The Service: Wonderful! Our server is super attentive. Constantly checking on us. The food is served promptly. The Food: The food might be a little bit pricier. However, with the beautiful ocean view… it is definitely worth it! The Parking: Parking lot next to the Laguna Hotel or parking structure across street.

My server Ashley was prompt and very courteous. The view was fantastic! So many outdoor seats available, and you can walk straight up from the beach to a table. Yeah the prices are kind of ridiculous, but hey, it’s the view youre paying for! This is a vacation spot, so if you’re in a rush might not be the spot for you. Martinis and specialty drinks were 10 – 15, yikes. Beers were $ 7. My clam chowder was a little too liquidy. Flavor was great but consistency could be a little thicker. Quality of food was mediocre, service was mediocre. My beer came in less than 5 minutes so i can’t complain.
