Food was ok at best. Service was horrible but because we had a big party they included the gratuity otherwise they would have gotten 10%. Waitress told us that all 10 of us had to order off 1 paper which made our service slow as a turtle(3hours). The crazy thing is that they weren’t even busy. It was my wife’s birthday and we ask them to sing Happy Birthday but It took so long we told them forget it. I think they went to bake a cake or something. I’m not one to complain but $ 425 and 3 hours later I was not satisfied at all.

Absolutely awful. The sushi didn’t taste good the drinks didn’t taste good and the service was bad. Wouldn’t go again. They haven’t done much to upstage katsuya

First time here decided to try the basics. Had maguro sushi hoping for the best… chewy not fresh at all. Tried the Rock and roll… average at best. Everyone here was very friendly. Food just not on same level as other places in LB. Not recommended.

From now on, I’m going to Okura and paying the extra $ 10 to have a better AYCE sushi experience. $ 35 per person($ 45 including tax and tip) might sound like a big bag of money to hand over, but worth it considering the quality of seafood that Okura serves for all you can eat. That’s not to say Okura is comparable to the average Japanese sushi bar though. None of the chefs(2 Korean, 1 Indonesian) added wasabi between the fish and rice. The nigiri selection was limited to the basic varieties. The menu indicated«Japanese scallop» which I assumed was«hotate» and was looking forward to try, but every single time, I received the cheap chopped scallop instead. Besides these points, Okura was really outstanding. The fish tasted so much better than anywhere else that offers AYCE. For once, the tuna was not semi-frozen with a nasty freezer burn texture. Okura offered bluefin tuna that’s sliced to order. For once, the albacore was actually tender and buttery, not overly thick and peppered to taste like cooked meat. For once, I could taste the sushi rice that did not collapse. For once, there was an AYCE restaurant that served rice at just slightly above room temperature rather than ice cold. The yellowtail, albacore, and Scottish salmon were exceptional and worth repeating. Besides nigiri, there were over 20 small plates to choose from including the Kobe beef carpaccio. Unfortunately, the beef carpaccio was so overseasoned with sauce and garlic such that it tasted like a fast food burger. I liked the yellowtail carpaccio more, the yuzu sauce that the chef applied was not cloying sweet like at most AYCE restaurants. The other appetizer plates were hit or miss. The worst was the sashimi salad that included a pile of bland dried out vegetables, it was impossible to finish. The second worst was the spinach gomae which was compacted so densely that it was difficult to bite and digest. On the other hand, the tako sunomono was excellent, the octopus was quite tender and slippery. Now that I’ve tried the AYCE once here, I know in the future to avoid most of the small plates and save stomach room for the nigiri, especially the yellowtail, albacore, and salmon.

Made reservations for this place for Mother’s Day and they tried to put us in a corner not suitable for 5 people. A table was not reserved and was not organized properly for such an occasion. The food was close to a kabuki like quality and it was very noisy.

By far the best quality sushi I’ve ever had. I love how they have an AYCE deal, SO worth it! It includes a good selection of starters, rolls, and nigiri. If you’re not too hungry, I recommend trying their speciality rolls. My favorite rolls are Hamachi Jalapeño, James Dean, and Madonna. Their carpaccio is also super delicious! It’s glazed with some kind of vinaigrette then topped with Serrano chilies, YUMM! Everything here is so fresh and so good. Definitely a favorite!

I’ll start by saying the service was on point and our waiter was wonderfully attentive. I’ll also say that I wanted to love this place, but the food sorta fell a little flat. The Salmon sushi was good, but the rolls and poki where so overly spiced, that it overpowered the fish. Pricing was good, but quality of food a let down.

Our sushi looked amazing and the sushi chefs were super friendly, however, our food had almost no flavor. The sushi wasn’t cold and our tuna appetizer came with 3 wonton chips. Everyone we encountered was super helpful and friendly, but the boring food will keep us from returning.

In A Nutshell: –Great location, parking lot was small, but had vacancies & there was metered-street parking available. –The building design was slick, open entrance that leads to a nice-sized bar, a variety of booths/tables, a sushi bar and an outdoor patio area. –I opted for the $ 34.95 all-you-can-eat sushi buffet. The choices were better than your normal all-you-can-eat sushi places. –You fill-out a sheet indicating how many servings of each item you’d like. I was pleasantly surprised there isn’t a limit(i.e. you could order 5 of the same rolls if you wanted). –The fish was very FRESH. –If you decide to order a bunch of stuff at once, make sure you start eating right away b/c the sushi will come very, very fast. –They also have a Japanese IPA, very cool. Now I can look forward to visiting Tokyo again w/out being trapped drinking nasty lager beer. –Read the fine print on the all-you-can-eat-menu(i.e. if you order too much or don’t eat the rice, you’ll get charged). Overall, I’d definitely come back again to eat at Okura Robata Grill & Sushi. It’s very well-managed and the service is very friendly and quick! You should come spend the evening at the beach and eat here :)

Probably the best quality all you can eat sushi restaurant we’ve ever been to! All you can eat is $ 35/person. It’s a bit more pricey than your normal $ 25/person AYCE sushi, but it’s well worth it. The sushi and rolls are so fresh. The carpaccio dishes are delicious. Love the ribs! Everything we had was great. The only thing we didn’t like was they give you A LOT of rice with the sushi. Service was good. Décor is beautiful. Location is prime. Really enjoyed our dinner at Okura.

Excellent sushi spot! I first came here for Valentine’s Day with my husband. It was great. From service to food. I couldn’t ask for more. We did the all you can eat. We had the chance to try so many different dishes. Everything was fresh and tasty. You can really feel the quality of the fish. A couple weeks later, we invited 7 of our friends out for dinner here. Everyone one I invited loved it here. We’re planning on coming back soon. We had Anthony Chang as our waiter. He was awesome. Since we were going nuts on ordering so many dishes, he said he’ll put some in first and an add more as we go along. Thank god, he did that or so much food would have went to waste. I can’t remember exactly what we ordered, but everything was delicious. I have a nut and soy allergy, they were very accommodating. A++ for that!

This place is just a couple of blocks from our house in Laguna. So I’m glad it is so good. Yes the food and sushi are excellent. But the real key to the place is the bartender Sean. My wife and myself like to eat at the bar, because Sean takes such excellent care of us. We usually don’t order and allow Sean to order for us, and yes it is always better than when we order for ourselves. Same with the drinks, he is an inventive mixologist, and pours a stiff drink. Again we usually don’t order drinks and Sean brings us what he thinks we will like. So far we has nailed it 100% of the time. The sushi here is excellent. But the robata skewers are the real star. The place has a cool, lively vibe, like a hollywood hills type place.

BEST sushi we have had! We came in for happy hour and got seated right away. Our waiter was really accommodating and had good recommendations. Here’s what we ordered: (2) Gyoza — super tasty, hint of spice (1) chicken Robata– good, nothing extraordinary (2) California crunch roll (1) spicy tuna roll (1) — shrimp sushi (1) hamachi sushi(waiter recommended and delicious) Will definitely be back, but only for happy hour as the place is pretty pricey otherwise.

Haven’t had sushi in a while and decided to come here since they had AYCE. It is definitely expensive so if you want to have that… be prepared to lose $ 35 per person. It’s really worth it if you can eat a lot :) Food: Beef carpaccio Very good. Loved it so much I ordered two more. They add a lot of garlic on the top! If you don’t like it, definitely tell the waiter. And BTW, the portion of this dish is extremely small. Miso Soup Best miso soup I’ve ever had. The flavor is definitely different than your average miso! Highly recommend! Serrano Salmon Carpaccio YUM! You should probably order rice to go with this. Also, if you love vinegar/sour foods, you should try this! The salmon is so soft it basically melts in your mouth! Gyoza Dumplings Loved these! Pretty sure they are deep fried. A lot of gyoza’s these days contain too much leek and greens and I absolutely hate it, but this one is filled with meat! love!!! Dynamite mussels Not a fan. It’s really tough, and it tasted pretty bland to me. Do not recommend. Agedashi Tofu Normally agedashi tofu is super soft, and would break apart. I think the tofu here is medium firm since it didn’t have that soft touch to it. The fried skin is a bit more chewy than I would like, but it’s still pretty good. Pan Seared Tuna Yummers! So flavorful! I do recommend trying it! The tuna is soft and isn’t fishy. Nigiris: fish to rice portion is perfect! Salmon(was the best IMO) — super soft and melts in your mouth! I’d have to say that this AYCE deal is totally worth it if you want some really good salmon!!! Yellowtail — Loved the yellowtail here! Definitely fresh :) Squid — It was interesting. I wasn’t bad, but wasn’t like«oh my gosh I’m ordering that again». Its very different looking for sure than your average squid nigiri. They sear it up! Eel — pretty good! Tuna — soft and yummy. there wasn’t much of a fishy taste which was great! Hotate — The scallops here was very different than what I expected. The scallops were chopped so much it was almost like minced garlic. Bottom line — next time I’m only ordering the salmon yellowtail and tuna nigiris ! Service: Started off slow, but it finally picked up! The people here are nice, especially the sushi chef. Nice and attentive staff = A+ I’ll be back hopefully sometime this year. Need to save before I blow $ 35 away xD

Best lunch! This plate is a lunch special for $ 13.00. It’s a salad + sushi combo. It doesn’t come with a standard salad. You get to choose your salad from an amazing selection! The fish is fresh. The service A+.

This restaurant is my go to sushi place. Okura Robata is always yummy, and getting a table is never too hard. I do not recommend the Robata(charcoal grill used to prepare Japanese food for customers). When I order sushi I am always happy but the Robata is too sweet and smokey. But please try it for yourself! Other than the Robata this restaurant is straight forward sushi and easily recognizable rolls

Food was great but the service was a bit bad. It’s seems like they are saving money hiring just one waitress. We were waiting too long for the food and too many mistakes with the order. Not sure if I’ll be back here.

Came back here and was delighted to find they have happy hour on Saturdays! The lychee martini for only $ 6 was a fantastic deal, and the bartender was generous and gave us advice about what to order and was just awesome. The service this time seemed better than other times, and the food arrived at a good pace. Totally recommend giving this place a try. Especially happy hour. Just give yourself plenty of time to take advantage of the AYCE. Love the ambiance, although the patio got really really warm. Uncomfortably so. Phew.
