My son and I have been coming here for close to 20 years. They have seen him grow from a toddler to a young man and now an adult. This used to be our favorite sushi place and we would come here several times a month. So I’m assuming we have eaten here at least 300 times over the years! That’s thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars! And we’ve seen many chefs come and go, from Hollywood to Peter to Mr. Kim, and our new favorite was George. We were never treated like anything special, but we had never gotten sick and enjoyed the food and comfort of routine. So it’s been over six months since we had been here because of a new sushi place in RSM and my newly diagnosed diabetes. We went today for lunch, and I must say ITWASTERRIBLE! The place has been cleaned up a little and freshly painted. I did notice it was a little cleaner than it has been in the past. But the sushi was of poor quality and it just wasn’t good at all. I ordered an order of mussels last, and they were absolutely disgusting. I don’t write a lot of reviews, but since I have 20 years’ experience coming here, I felt the need. We won’t be returning!

Prices are back to what they used to be! Lunch $ 18 and Dinner $ 23 for AYCE Sushi! I’ve been to a few other AYCE in the area, but I always come back to You & I. Food: Although not the greatest sushi I’ve had, I can’t complain for the quality of it when it comes to AYCE. It’s a big plus when they offer a handful of items included in the AYCE from the kitchen including Shrimp Tempura, Gyoza, Dynamite, Oysters, etc. Service: I always sit at the sushi bar. Sushi chef is always ready to serve. Quick and at your service. PROMO: Stamp cards! Get 10AYCE meals, and your 11th is FREE! They don’t promote this as much as they should, I had to ask for it. Environment: Not the greatest, but again it’s AYCE. I come here solely for the AYCE, I could care less for the environment. The price is great and I can deal with lack of interior design for better AYCE. Any of the previous issues from 2015 about the price spike have been resolved and they brought their prices back to what they used to be. I’m very excited for this and I hope other Unilocalers see that and come back to keep these guys around. I think all in all it’s a great place to eat for an AYCE, my favorite from all any other in Southern Orange County. ALSO: for lunch, they’re open to 2:30 even though Unilocal says 2:00pm

I really like this place, the food is great and the wait staff is very friendly… One complaint, I come here all the time with my boyfriend and the lady at the front(probably manager) never seats us at the front of the sushi bar. I’m pretty sure she’s sexist or racist because my boyfriend is black. One time we even asked to sit up front and she refused us. Pretty disappointing for a great sushi place

The AYCE is so worth it. Most of the stuff is on the pricer side so I decided to go for the AYCE and get my money’s worth. But wow! Its been a while since I’ve been here since they took away AYCE but I’m really liking the quality of the raw fish and their THICK slices. Most places like Zenko cut the fish thin but the sushi I had were almost sashimi cut. Very very good. Also the sushi rice here is good. I don’t like the intensity of sourness in some other sushi rice. Theirs is very pleasant.

I’ve been eating here for probably 10years or so, and I’ve seen many of their changes(for the better or worse) I was able to miss the no all you can eat fiasco. That being said AYCE is back and as always the food is delicious, as of yesterday it is 50% off drinks all day everyday! If you like this restaurant, or sushi and want a new spot to try, go to you and I! They are always nice and the food is delicious, salmon and tuna melt in your mouth, mackerel if youre adventurous like me and much more! Let’s support those that have let us fill our bellies with sushi for years!

Second time here. First time, there were cozy booths and a warm vibe. I just brought my daughter here a few days ago. The remodel looks sadly like a cafeteria. Unfortunately, the service seemed to be hurry scurry with the 2 waitresses on the floor unable to keep up with the 6 or so tables. I am one of those weird people that will not eat anything raw so I asked the waitress who barely spoke English if she could show me some options that are cooked. She barely understood me and really had no idea what I was talking about so she pointed to some things and they were raw. Frustrating. Then when I finally got through to her, she pointed to some things that were cooked, but I got my first roll(with no plate served) and it had raw roe on top it!!! I could not eat it! It took about 3 minutes for me to get our waitress’ attention to also get a plate. And by the time some of the other food arrived we got plates. Then the worst thing happened. A cockroach was walking up the wall our booth table was connected to! Then it crawled onto our table while I tried to flag our waitress or anyone down. Ugh. The waitress came over and remedied it by grabbing one of our napkins and smashing it down hard(loud boom!) on our table then taking the smashed cockroach away and throwing it into the trash. OMG. A few minutes later the waitress said our food was going to be comped. That was an honorable thing to do. However, When I got the bill, nothing was free and i disgustedly paid the check. Apparently nobody communicated with each other that my meal was comped. Very sad. With places like Zenko Sushi just down the road that is fabulous with the best service ever and the freshest food ever, I will never come here again.

Decided to come here for the first time because it is close to my house but will NEVER be returning. Service was slow and had to ask multiple times for more water even though the restaurant was empty. What put the cherry on top for me was how horribly sick I became after coming here. I am a regular sushi go-er and have been just about everywhere but never in my life have I had such horrible FOODPOISONING. Go somewhere else instead of wasting your money here.

We got here at around 5 so it was still empty; however it took them a whole hour to get all of our orders. Two tables that came in after us, left way before us. We had to ask them to check on our orders, then it finally all came out. We’ve been here a lot to know how to everything works and service used to be seriously on point. We’ve never experienced it this bad here before, and this wasn’t the first time. The other times we just let it go because we’re regulars but now it’s become a routine for the slow service… Also, the taste of their sushi has dropped dramatically. It definitely is not the same. To make matters worse, their prices went up. Not worth it anymore. $ 28 for AYCE, bad service and mediocre sushi? Nah. I will not be returning. It sucks because this was my all time favorite AYCE Sushi. I was willing to drive 45 mins for this place. Not anymore!

After last nights visit I don’t think I will ever return. With the remodel they managed to remove every ounce of charm this place had. They removed the booths with walls to put bland tables. It’s now open, the walls are a hideous green, and there is no charm what so ever. They also got rid of some fish options on the all you can eat menu. No more clam or red snapper. Depressing.

What idiot decided what this semi-venerable AYCE institution needed was a renovation and to drop their AYCE menu — you know, that thing that brought in nearly all of their business — only to bring it back, but now the ambiance is dead and the place sucks. There was a moderately pleasant atmosphere here before — booths with tall backs so you feel like you have some privacy, Asian-inspired design flourishes — but all of that is gone now. In its place, there are stark, bland green walls and open table seating. It looks like a goddamn cafeteria. The AYCE menu is back! Kind of… They decided to drop some previous options(I can’t recall exactly which, but it’s obvious the fish choices are fewer) and they’ve added a new offender to the menu: tilapia. Tilapia? Are the effin’ kidding? Who in the hell wants to eat that bottom-feeding garbage fish? I don’t know where they get their tilapia from, but the traditional(read: Vietnamese) method of feeding the fish involves stringing chicken cages over the water and allowing the fish to eat their excrement. Keep that in mind next time you buy a box at Costco. Surely with a more limited menu the price must have changed, right? You are correct! It now costs $ 27.99 for an AYCE dinner, representing a $ 3 increase over the previous price of $ 24.99. Last night, on a Monday, they had ONE sushi chef there to make food for a half-full restaurant. This guy never stopped working for a second, and there was a considerable backlog of orders he had to get through all night. Whoever made the decision to ruin this place — because that’s what they did — is a moron. As much as I don’t want to see people lose their jobs, this place deserves to go under. They had a good thing going, they blew it. Game over, Johnny.

ALLYOUCANEATISBACK!!! So I went to You and I sushi about a year ago with my friend and it was great. The volcano roll and the jalapeño bomb are definitely my favorite and I loved the All You Can Eat. I came back with my parents mid july this year but the waiter said they took away the All You Can Eat. But yesterday my girlfriend had a sushi craving and I really wanted a volcano roll so we just went to You and I to get a couple of things… ANDALLYOUCANEATWASBACK!!! There’s more room now then there was last time and when I asked why they brought back the AYCE the waitress told me they brought it back because a lot of customers wanted it back so it’s nice to know they actually care about the service. And they got rid of the rude mexican sushi chef because he was yelling at the customers. You and I Sushi, you made my girlfriend happy so I’m happy. DEFINITELYCOMINGBACKFORDATENIGHTS.

Stopped in today for AYCE. Havent been here for over 6 months or so. First things I noticed: 1. Remodeled… Great 2. Dinner AYCE prices were up from last time I was in. Yikes! Not worth the price in my opinion when you have so many other options for AYCE with better quality. 3. This was the worst… walked in. The owner, I presume, was at the cash register and could clearly see me but chose to ignore me. I ALMOST walked out but I was craving all you can eat and was in a time crunch. There was a lady sitting in the first booth in front of the register. I assume, the owners wife, who was playing on her phone but she did acknowledge me. If I hadnt been here before. I probably would have left for sure. My server has worked there for as long as I can remember. He did a great job. Seemed like there were lots of choices for AYCE but yet still limited compared to other places. If that makes any sense. No new rolls here. The sushi had lots of rice compared to Sake2me. I didn’t expect great sushi but I also didn’t expect poor customer service, except for the waiter. Disappointed.

Today was a sad day. I’ve been coming to You & I for over ten years. Their lunchtime«all you can eat» special hit a magical price point between quality and quantity. Was it the best sushi in the local area? No, but it was good, the service was usually attentive especially if seated at the bar. You left satisfied, and the extra menu items like edamame, teriyaki chicken, and dynamite were a plus. I was there today expecting the special, only to find that it has been discontinued. The inside has been redone and it is clear the owners are now aiming to step up in terms of price and I assume clientele. That’s all well and good, but the sushi itself didn’t rise in quality to match. The tuna tasted like a slab of red rubber; this should be a staple. The salmon was still good but sliced thinly, so the mouth fill wasn’t the same. I didn’t try the volcano this last time. The menu of extras has been replaced with more Chinese options. They claim that they dropped the price on the individual items by a dollar per, but after ordering conservatively lunch was still more expensive than the old special. I like paying for food more than décor, so sadly I’m not likely to return until the special does.

NOMOREAYCE!!! They have renovated the inside which now looks like a sterile doctor’s office and have removed the AYCE special. When we asked for a seat, that was even the first thing he said, following up with«most people just turn and walk out when I tell them». On top of that my favorite(like most other people) is the Volcano Roll and it now tastes like it’s been DROWNED in mayonnaise. Sadly to say, a placed that I’ve loved to come to for years and have been driving 20 miles each way to get to for the last 2 ½ years– will no longer see me here.

I have come back to You & I after several years of being on the East Coast and two aspects have changed since my original review. Firstly, it appears that all the original Korean chefs are gone. Secondly, the slices of fish in their nigiri seem thinner than I remember, and the rice underneath has stayed the same. Because their rolls are still delicious, I do not feel that these changes warrant dropping their rating but it is unfortunate nevertheless.

No longer my go to place! Sushi chefs are extremely rude, especially a Hispanic guy that served us last time. Wish I had his name. Fish seems less quality then before. Luckily found the best all you can eat spot in lake forest. Minato sushi. Don’t go here. There are better places with friendly chefs.

This place has gone DOWNHILL. I used to come here all the time for the past 10 years. I will never step foot in here. –Too much rich. –Fish quality not as good. –Limited amount of baked muscles. –Head sushi chef was extremely rude. This place has a Hispanic Main Sushi Chef that CLEARLY has not been cutting fish & making sushi for s long time. He is SORUDE, he is the main reason why we don’t come back.

BEWAREATALLCOSTSUNLESSYOUWANTTOBESCOLDED! Went here a few months ago with my mom and had the WORST experience ever! It took me a while to collect my thoughts to write this review so it wouldn’t be filled with all caps and just yelling… The sushi is horrible. They load on tons of rice so you barely taste what is inside the roll. Our sushi chef was also very rude. He literally just stared my mom down the whole time and even denied to make her rolls until she finished every bite of rice. He never smiled once and even towards the waitresses he was rude. After our dinner we pulled aside the manager to tell her about the chef and she just shook her head. My family and I used to love this place but it just stopped caring and it shows with the employment that scolds the people paying for food.
