I came to this place a couple months ago. My first impression walking in, was that the décor was odd… Looked like there was a dollhouse in the middle of the restaurant. And one thing that really made me feel strange is there was NOONE else in there. My husband and I both got all You can eat. The waitress was not friendly at all. I didn’t feel very welcomed and I’m pretty sure she didn’t speak any English. We got our food and it was probably one of the worst sushi experiences I’ve had. It was almost like they drenched the rolls in sauce so you couldn’t taste how gross and low quality their fish was. There was SO much rice, I couldn’t even each it. And they’re sashimi was HORRIBLE. I spit out every piece I tried. It was a complete waste of money. And sushi isn’t cheap. So I wasn’t happy. If you’re in the area, go to Minato RIGHT down el toro. Or go to Oiishi on Los Alisos in laguna hills.

I am not so sure about their AYE sushi…$ 25 and they overload the sushi rolls with rice, seriously very overloaded. I think I prefer«You and I» sushi in Laguna Hills, their customer service sucks but at least I don’t feel like I am getting ripped off with their food.

A SUSHI Haven! :) Got to love this place and we do! My personal favorite is the«Carolina Roll» — ask for it the next time you go in, it’s awesome! Add on the eel sauce and drizzle the spicy mayo on and you’ll be sitting in Kokoro everyday! :) We’ve done the all you can eat buffet and it’s fantastic! It is so worth the price and the sushi is scrumptiously good to the last bite! The owners; Charles & Helen are good people! Thank you Kokoro Sushi, El Toro!!!

Really Ike this spot. Food is amazing. Quality is great. I rate a 4 star bc it’s really hard to get to 5 star. U need all components of service price and quality. 4.5 is about right. The wife and I love this place for a high ”middle range” sushi spot u get everything without the crazy cost.

Out of all the Sushi places around So OC. Kokoro Sushi has to be my best and favorite place to enjoy sushi. It is located in the 99 Cent Only strip mall at the corner of El Toro and Rockfield. The owner and Sushi maker is Charlie. They are Korean and this is a family owned business as the Wife, daughter, and son seem to work at different times. Charlie has two cook assistants in the kitchen. THey have Sushi Rolls, Shashimi, Teriyaki plates, Udon noodles, and ALLYOUCANEAT. The place isn’t too big and it doesn’t get too lousy with people. The Décor is my favorite place. You will have to check it out to see what I mean. If you go, tell them that James sent you.

Not a bad spot for a quick lunch if you’re in the area. Sushi and bento box was filling and seemed and tasted fresh. However, the veggie tempura in bento box was a bit under cooked. One other negative-soup spoon for miso soup chipped and a little worn. Overall– don’t go out of your way to try.

We were craving sushi and thought we’d try out this local sushi restaurant. It’s uniquely decorated which gives it charm but leaves the cleanliness suspect. The sushi was okay. There was one server for the busy restaurant. I had to request a different soda twice because they were all flat. I don’t think we’ll be coming back.

Came with my aunt for early dinner after a long day at the salon and shopping. We came in past 5 pm and there was only a few customers. I wanted the AYCE sushi but my aunt didn’t want, I asked the waitress if that’s okay and she said that its fine as long as we don’t share food. Their AYCE was $ 24.95 I ordered green dragon roll $ 8.95(in: crabmeat, avocado. Out: eel, avocado), salmon skin roll $ 5.95(cooked salmon skin, crabmeat, avocado), potstickers 4pcs $ 4.50(it’s like fried dumpling), and spicy lobster dynamite roll $ 9.95(in: crabmeat, avocado. Out: baked spicy baby lobster.) Everything was good. I also had dessert, one small scoop of green tea ice cream which was not part of the AYCE(a little disappointed with that) so that was an additional $ 2.95. I paid a total of $ 30 some. The food was good, the place is clean enough. Service was okay and fast,(maybe because there were only a few people there, not sure how service is during busier hours.) a good place if you want a quick sushi fix.

This lovely place always makes my day. The people are so warm and welcoming and I could feel they put a lot of heart into the food and serving just as though they are serving their own family. We had salads, rolls, sushi, miso, udon, unagi&avocado bowl and they all tasted GReAt — I would give 4.9999 stars to the freshness!(I think their unique interior/music/antiques tell you how much they love the business too:))

When I walked in and saw all you can eat sushi advertised and not a single person in the restaurant on a Saturday night at 6, I should’ve ran out the front door. I gave this restaurant one star only because the waitress was attentive(and again, probably because nobody was in the restaurant but my husband and I). The sushi was not fresh and the rolls that we ordered were disgusting. The sashimi was not edible. My husband and I left an entire roll and a few pieces of sushi on our plates. That never happens when we go out to sushi! Additionally, fruit flies landed in my sake. We left that on the table as well. This place is gross!

My boyfriend and I love Kokoro’s! You can’t beat the quality and the price. The owners are also really friendly, and we always get great service. Inside, the décor is kitschy and interesting, giving the restaurant a «diner» type vibe. We eat here so often, we’ve become regulars. Favorite sushi roll is the Snow Corn Roll which has amazingly delicious, baked lobster on top. They’ve also got great Udon and bento boxes. If you’re looking for sushi place, definitely check out this mom and pop joint. PS – Kokoro’s is also extremely accommodating for larger group celebrations. We’ve had a great time celebrating birthdays and co-worker farewell parties.
