Went to Bistro K with my friend for the first time for lunch. Not only did I find the food excellent but our server Claudia(sp) from NY was a delight. I trusted Claudia to surprise me with the lunch meal and desert. The meal was a Lunguine with meat sauce and the desert was a white coconut cake. Both excellent. My friend had the steak salad and was also impressed with the quality and service. Thinking about taking my wife back to the restaurant for dinner. Reminded me of being in the Little Italy section of Manhattan, NYC. recommend house coffee with desert

I’m finishing my light-as-a-cloud coconut cake and couldn’t wait to Unilocal love for my favorite restaurant! First, the staff is the STAR of Bistro K. Owner Tony and daughter Katia ensure you feel like family in a contemporary yet relaxed setting. My favorite bartender Jerry serves the best drinks and a hearty chorus with Greg or Tom singing on a Friday night. The food is consistently FABULOUS, especially served with a smile by Katia, Moses or Mara! Start with Burrata Balsamico, a salad of pillowy mozzarella, spicy arugula, heirloom tomatoes, basil and a balsamic reduction! Add the thinnest Eggplant Siciliana that melts in your mouth and the Arroncinis — a fried ball of porcini risotto with a mozzarella cheese center, ladeled with marinara — are to die for! Those are just the starters, any entrée is a Tony specialty and Tina’s desserts are 5 star, especially the coconut cake. If you’ve yet to try Bistro K, come hungry and share a variety of succulent selections! After dinner*, stay and sing along with your friends or meet someone new to dance with! Laguna Niguel’s locals know«BK» has a fine dining taste with a family feel. *breakfast(quiche) and lunch(Seared Ahi Salad) also served– your(favorites) are tbd!

We’ve been coming here for years with generally good experiences. During this visit, I tried the Tony’s Briosa salad. I give it two stars due to dry chicken and bland salad dressing. My friend had the pork chop that he said was good, but wouldn’t order it again. Three stars. What really made us unhappy was the way our server handled a mistake on our check. He had charged us for an extra drink, and when we pointed it out, he said, «What are you talking about?» in an aggressive way. When we once again pointed to the discrepancy, he did acknowledge the mistake and remove it from the bill, but not cool.

Apparently Bistro K has been around for quite a while but it’s new to me. Called last minute on a Friday night for a party of 2 and they fit us into what was clearly a busy night. Service was some of the best I’ve had in years and they even called me by name throughout the evening. It’s a smaller place but really unique in atmosphere and décor. Live guitar/singer was perfect as it added to the evening without being the main attraction. Menu is extremely large and varied for the size of the kitchen and restaurant. One of us had steak and the other chicken parm and both were excellent. Highly recommend this local place in Laguna Niguel.

Had another wonderful night at «The K» last night. As one of the restaurant’s oldest customers, my family can vouch for the food, service, atmosphere, and experience time and time again. It’s always great to see Katia, Moses, Jerry, and — of course — Tony Bagatta, the man himself, hard at work and enjoying themselves while they do it. Crispy, thinly sliced eggplant with fresh basil and parmesan to start; blackened swordfish with a beautiful lemon sauce as the entrée; perfect apple turnover for dessert. The music was fantastic, as always(shout out to Tom Hernandez, who normally is the weekend performer), and the atmosphere was lively. This is easily the best spot in Laguna Niguel, and creates so many memories for those who frequent it regularly.

Absolutely amazing! The food is absolutely fantastic– I can’t get over how great every dish was! The staff is very helpful and timely. Everyone is so polite and the atmosphere is so joyful. The live music is upbeat and on key(always a plus). Everything about Bistro K is wonderful! I love that it’s family owned and operated. I can’t emphasize enough how great our visit was. I’ll definitely be a regular customer!

The best! Bistro K’s professional staff, fresh flavorful cuisine and the quaint atmosphere make it the perfect dining choice for all occasions. On my last visit, I enjoyed the best entre salad that I have eaten at a restaurant. The Ahi was perfectly prepared and their homemade jalapeño accented dressing was the perfect complement to the Ahi and greens. The excellence of the restaurant flows from their wonderful owner Katia Bagatta to their genuinely hospitable staff. Both Moses and Mara are superb. Whether for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or a special event, if you want a delicious and quaint dining experience, I believe that Bistro K is the perfect destination!

Born and raised on the East Coast in Boston, where great Italian food isn’t so scarce, the food here is very good. Most of the Italian food in SoCal is over-seasoned and tastes like Ragu out of a jar at best. We ordered the ahi and calamari appetizers here, and both got the salmon entrée. Everything was great, service was friendly and attentive, and most importantly the food came out quickly and hot. Definitely recommend. Live acoustic music on Saturday night was a plus.

What a great night. Thought we’d try some new local places… SCORE!!! Didn’t even know bistro K was here!!! House pasta was amazing. Scallops lobster and shrimp in lobster. –I have died and gone to heaven… But to top it all. Moses was our server and man did he serve. So impressed with everything. Vanilla bean crew brûlée literally knocked me off my feet. If you buy any wine from salt creek winery a few doors down, there’s not corkage fee. This is a little gem tucked away in this little center. We will be back for sure!!! Thanks for an awesome night. Live music. Friendly patrons and first class, over the top service. We will be back!!!

The service is great and the ambiance is nice. It has a bigger city small bistro feel. We really want to like this place, but after coming twice and leaving disappointed I just can’t recommend it. Don’t come with expectations. The bread is tasteless. Soft, fresh, but no flavor. The Cesar salad was not a Cesar salad. It looked lovely, was a nice sized portion, and had tasty shaved parmesian, but tasted more like a vinegarette dressing. The lamb was good, but the beans and potatoes that accompanied it were completely forgettable. The pasta seafood special was also forgettable. Nothing was wrong with it – plenty of sauce, the fresh pasta was the hilight, the seafood was cooked well, but nothing was memorable or exceptional. It just wasn’t worth eating. We left disappointed and feeling like we were over-charged(and we used the 25% off check in discount). We won’t be back, which is a shame since it’s 5 minutes from home.

This place is garbage, a rip off. My girl friend who was feeling the effects of a cold and had a quick break from work to pick up food for lunch went to this place to pick up her order. Her chicken sandwich was literally all mayonnaise, chunks of old potato and 2 pieces of tasteless chicken. The lintel soup was so small it might as well been in a shot glass. This disappointing and tasteless lunch cost her $ 14 dollars. So far my review has been about the food, however the service is terrible but i don’t have time to type and detail that. The owners of this please need to change the ethos of this place before it goes out of business.

I actually go here quite often, mostly for lunch. They have some nice salads and soups. Stars taken off for the service. Always slow, and even though I’ve been there dozens of times, there is no recognition of the fact that I am a repeat customer, nor any enthusiasm or warm greeting of any kind by the owner/manager. You could say that the service borders on rude. The owner/manager often sits or stands behind the counter doing some paperwork and doesn’t seem at all interested in the customers. Takes forever to get someone’s eye to get a drink refill. Too bad, because the food is decent, but the service is poor and management friendliness to customers is non existent.

I went with my cousin to have lunch on a weekday. The server/hostess was young, inexperienced in welcoming us, seating us, taking the beverage order… it felt uncomfortable. The female owner, or woman who I presumed to be owner, was very natural and welcoming and her presence definitely improved our feelings. There were still unlit candles on the table from the previous night of service, and the table top wasn’t clean. It took too long for our food to come out. We ordered two panini sandwiches. And even though the owner took our order herself, the kitchen accidentally fired two of the same sandwich, even though we had ordered one pastrami and one chicken and pesto. She did however bring a complimentary soup to apologize for the refire on my cousins panini. But the soup cup she presented was not wiped clean, there were drips from the ladel. We checked in on Unilocal to receive a discount. The food was good, but I wasn’t impressed with the timing and the overall feeling and finesse of the service.

We dined here over the weekend on Saturday night for my moms birthday. We had a reservation, but the restaurant was mostly empty. We started with an appetizer, and I dont see it on the regular menu — and I cannot remember the name of it… it was almost like meatballs… but they were delicious! We had a party of four… and ordered the Salmon, Chicken Parmesan, Osso Bucco and Penne with Spinach and Chicken in a Pink Sauce. I asked if they had Whole Wheat pasta, and was told no — that they do sometimes, it just depends. Our waiter went in the back and let me know they did have some leftover, but it was angel hair. I said that was perfect, and appreciated him checking — so the penne was substituted with angel hair. I did not taste the Salmon, but the other three dishes were DELICIOUS! It was my moms 70th birthday, and they brought her a piece of chocolate cake. Im not sure if this is the norm, as they did not have any birthday candles… but it was nice nonetheless. The front door was open for most of our visit, and it was hot inside. You could feel the air conditioner was on, but with the door open, the sun was really bright shining in, and it was a bit warm. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and the food was great, I hope to go back!
