OMG! Have been waiting a year to have these again. They were even better this year; lighter and fluffier if you can believe it. Tanya even has her malasada mix pre made in jars if you want to try frying some up at home. We had the colossal breakfast malasada filled with maple bacon, eggs and cheese(we should have bought more) along with the original sugared ones. If you want the best malasadas on Maui hot out of the fryer, then go to Tanya’s on Sundays and Tuesdays and you will not be disappointed.

Omgoodness!!! Finally found legit-real-deal Malasadas on Maui! I’m Portuguese and these Malasadas are very close to the Filhos my grandma used to make! Absolutely delicious and totally worth going off the beaten path. We got coconut, chocolate, and strawberry filled and of course a half dozen original because they are truly my faves! Only $ 11 for the mixed dozen!!! The biggest bummer is they are only open on Sundays, so stock up while they last… well at least that’s what we told ourselves this morning but I’m pretty sure all 12 will be gone by tonight!

Unilocal is an amazing thing. Before, if I wanted an authentic Hawaiian Malasada I would probably end of eating one of the ones they serve as dessert at a high end restaurant, telling myself that I’m having an authentic experience. I never in a million years would have just happened upon a place like Aloha Malasadas. But I am so thankful for Unilocal, because of it I was able to find the best Malasada experience in Maui. This is the real deal. A couple ladies with a store front that’s a little rough around the edges(only 3 weeks in this new location, apparently) frying malasadas fresh in front of you. We had the original and coconut cream. Both were amazing. For me used to the L&L Hawaiian BBQ malasadas I’m used to getting, I was pleasantly surprised by the distinct chewy and springy texture. These aren’t just another doughnut, Malasadas when done right are unique unto themselves. And these ones are done right. They only serve Malasadas on Sunday, and the earlier the better. When we got there at 9:30 they were almost out.

A little hard to find, but worth it. Malasadas just like Grandma used to make. Twnder, chewy, soft, crunchy and sweet!

I did a search for malasadas in Maui, and Aloha Malasadas popped up. First, their pop up location is located in a very unsuspecting, industrial area. So expect to drive where you don’t think there will be any malasadas. We found them at the end of the street. You basically pick up and go — there is no where to sit and eat them. We stopped by after a sunrise hike and picked up 4 breakfast, 2 fruit-filled, 2 chocolate-filled, and one plain malsada for $ 27. The«breakfast malasadas were much larger, with a denser dough, and filled with eggs, ham and cream cheese(I think she said it was a combo of cheddar cheese and cream cheese). My husband and brother each consumed one whole savory breakfast one before moving onto try the sweet ones — so I’d say they were a hit(I am personally not a fan of cheese). The«fruit and cream» filled ones were cream cheese and Smuckers(from my analysis — Smuckers has a very distinctive taste), and they filled the chocolate-filled malasadas when we requested it. All the sweet ones were coated in sugar. My favorite was the chocolate-filled and plain ones. Overall these malasadas were a hit with my family and I’m glad I asked if they re-heated well the next day(she said yes so we bought extra!). They have a set up with a wok filled with oil to make more malasadas as the morning moved on, so it is all very, very fresh. Just remember she is only there on Sunday’s, so plan ahead(and buy extra).

Such a sweet family serving up sweet treats! You can buy sweet ones filled with goodness! They also have breakfast savory ones also! So good, great authentic local food and loving Hawaiian people!

This place is totally worth the little adventure to find it! I read so much about the breakfast malasada that I knew the boyfriend would at least be won over. I grabbed two plain and one filled coconut malasada, all of which were great. The constincy is a little chewier than some others but still incredibly tasty. So the breakfast malasada? SERIOUSLY. I had the tiniest bites of it and instantly wished I would have grabbed one for myself. The filling of egg, bacon and cream cheese(I think) was so delicious and coupled with the chewy pastry, made for a perfect on-the-go breakfast. Go and say hi to Tanya! She is incredibly sweet and hails from Oregon.

I’ve been looking for something as good as my first malasada experience at Leonard’s on Oahu. Aloha Malasadas has met and surpassed Leonard’s in my mind and mouth. The only bad thing is they are only open on Sundays. So now all my Hawaiian vacations have to include a Sunday stopover in Maui for Tanya’s Malasadas. If you are in Maui on a Sunday wake up early and go there. You will not regret it.

One of my new Maui finds this year since they just opened in 2015, Tanya’s Malasadas will very quickly make itself into my Old Maui Faves list to regularly return to. We arrived at 7 and was driving around looking for it by the old Sugar Cane Train and the Bakery but couldn’t find it. Figuring that people operate on Hawaiian time, we decided to wait a few minutes. Luckily there was a # on Unilocal we could call and were directed to the correct area on a side street she was operating from that day. It is a tent so do not look for a food truck and it looks like the location may vary a little bit. But once you find it, you will be warmly greeted by Tanya and the wonderful smells of malasadas still being cooked with some ready to go. We got one breakfast one which happened to be larger than normal that day to split and a coconut one to go, both delicious! Do yourself a favor and try it before you leave in case you want to stock up before you are too far away. If we weren’t already going to be eating fried poi mochi at the Maui Fair later on that day, I would have definitely gotten more.

Great place for fresh Malasadas! Reasonable price especially for a dozen filled for $ 12!!! Came at 8am on Sunday and she already sold out of the breakfast malasadas. Ate one right away and enjoyed the texture and chocolate filling. The other ones vanilla and coconut were also good. Just wish there was a bit more filling. No pics… we enjoyed them too quickly!

Stumbled upon this yesterday when tried to go to The Bakery, which is closed Sundays. Tried all three flavors of cream filled malasadas: coconut, vanilla, and chocolate. They were all good, but the coconut one was the best. I also tried the breakfast malasada with cream cheese, egg, and bacon, which was also good.

People this is the real deal! Best fried pastry I have ever had in my life. Warm, chocolate filling, and that sugar doughy goodness made my toes curl as I was eating it. Worth the 5 mile drive 8 am In the morning!

After stopping and buying a box full of pastries from a bakery in the same block we discovered this incredible malasada stand. We ended up buying a dozen classic malasadas and 5 egg, bacon, cheese malasadas that were big enough to split. They cook everything on site in a huge propane wok. Everything was made fresh and still warm when we got back to our condo. Needless to say our group of 10 ate up the warm malasadas and did not even touch the«other» box of pastries. This place is fantastic and an incredible find on Maui. Must stop and try them if you are in Lahaina.

Great malasadas made here in lahaina. Sweet and savory truly the best because it’s made with lots of love for the people. Come on down Sundays at the Bakery by the old sugar cane train or you can put your order in during the week if you all got that malasada cravings. Aloha everyone!

I inquired last night if they would be available today(Fat Tuesday) and Tanya made sure to find out what time I wanted them so they would be hot. They were just being finished when I got there and smelled so good. I tortured myself with the wonderful smell filling up the car as I made deliveries to friends. I finally got home to enjoy mine and they were cooked perfectly and tender just as they should be. Really nice to have these available on the westside!
