I have never before in my life written a negative review. Yet I am so deeply insulted and offended that it seems morally wrong not to warn others. Like most who have posted here, I regret the necessity of awarding Elua Nani(EN) even one star. Not only do they deserve none, but they deserve censure and potentially prosecution for their business practices. I am a local resident of Maui and have lived here nearly 20 years. Not long ago I downsized from a large home into a condo; as a result, I found it necessary to decrease my wardrobe inventory. I decided to take dozens of clothes to EN for sale on consignment – a decision that proved to be disastrous. The store owner accepted my clothes but refused to provide me with a receipt. I personally made note of what I contributed, but had no signed document or any other type of proof from EN. Perhaps because I am a scrupulously honest person, I chose to expect honesty in return and trust them. Bad idea. On the occasions I dropped by EN to check on possible sales of my belongings, I was invariably treated rudely by the owner. He made it plain that he felt inconvenienced by being forced to check my account, and he sometimes refused to do so. When he did condescend to give me the information he postponed paying me until later. After I expressed my frustration with the owner’s practices, he informed me that I must request a check at least 24 hours in advance. I felt a sense of relief, thinking I now understood the procedure and would have no more problems. Sadly, that was untrue. When I telephoned to request payment, I was either placed on hold until I gave up, asked to call back later(at which time the telephone went unanswered), or in various other ways put off. When I dropped by in person to request payment, the owner sharply criticized me for doing so. He accused me of harming his business by making my request in the presence of potential customers, or claimed that he was experiencing computer problems that made it impossible to access my account, or gave excuses about being too busy to deal with such mundane matters. All came to a head a few days ago. I called EN to request payment and was asked to call back in 15 minutes. When I did so, no one answered my call. Subsequently, I went to the store in person and politely requested payment. I was told to return to EN in two days’ time to pick up a check. When I returned precisely as instructed, upon entering I realized the owner was furious with me. He immediately began to lecture me about my rudeness in requesting payment and my interference with his business, and his voice steadily rose to the point that he was shouting at me. God gave me a gift, though. A couple happened to be shopping in the store during the owner’s tirade and in the midst of it the woman of the couple approached. She very kindly urged me to get what belonged to me and leave EN for good. Further, she told the owner that from her perspective as a potential customer, she was deeply offended by his behavior. She told him that she was leaving and would never return. The owner refused to give me my money that day. Finally, I insisted we sever our business relationship. He told me that he would need three days to gather up my belongings and draft a check. Three days later I returned to EN and accepted my unsold belongings and check. According to my meticulous records I had 59 items outstanding with the owner. As you may have guessed by now, substantially fewer were returned to me. Worse, in my estimation the check provided to me did not even come close to covering the missing clothes. Sellers, beware of giving belongings to this store! Buyers, be aware that anything you buy may be at the expense of an innocent supplier!

It is a tragedy that I have to give one star when Elua Nani deserves zero. The owner is the most disreputable, rude, and inappropriate man Ive ever has the misfortune of coming across. On top of that, the shop is possibly the most ill managed store possibly on the island. I was shopping there today when a woman came in to pick up her check she had confirmed earlier for items she’d provided for sale. The owner proceeded to berate her, raise his voice at her, and tell her to leave without payment. It seemed clear that he was attempting to keep the money for himself. After the woman responded to the best of her ability, which I felt was with grace and class, he continued to belittle her. I will never shop there again nor will I advise any of my friends to do so… beware!

I received rude customer service here. I felt like the workers were watching to see if I was going to shoplift. You made me feel uncomfortable so I’ll never be back.

Worst place I’ve been to for a consignment! Don’t go here, go to Elise or donate your items. Worst customer service ever. Only gave it a one star, because you need to rate it. Its not a deserving star, this place SUCKS! They don’t explain to you their contract til after you sign it. & if you call or email them too much, they get mad.
