We had a really bad experience with this dive shop. We go to Maui every year, purchase products here, take their dive trips; in other words, we are not one time customers. for our anniversary, my husband bought me a dive mask, expensive, which we took home with us and came back the next year to use it. First dive; great. Second dive; warped seal. We were on the Alli Nui and tried the mask several times. No seal. We took it back to the store and were told that they only have a 30 day warranty. Really? Defective merchandise can’t be returned? When we returned home to CA, we sent the mask back to the owner telling them our experience. not so much as a «too bad so sad» letter. no response whatsoever. It will be the LAST time we use Maui Dive.

I came in to Maui dive and surf shop wanting to do a shore dive. I was on a trip with a bunch of friends. None who scuba. I couldn’t have landed at a better stop. Reasonably priced — Sean took me on two shore dives. I loved the individual attention, local knowledge and in depth knowledge about fish. It made my trip.

Great place for snorkel gear rentals and equipment in general. Rental equipment is in good shape and the staff is not only helpful, they are really nice. Very competitive rental prices for the week, highly recommend these guys.

Enjoyed our dives a lot, felt like we were in good hands. We’re good snorkelers(aged 19 to 57) but wanted to try scuba so we contacted Maui Dive and Surf and arranged for a 4 person intro beach dive from their West Maui shop the following afternoon. We had tried several other places but they couldn’t take us on short notice, so we basically stumbled upon them. The shop, which looked pretty new and spacious, had a large selection of suits so we were all able to find something comfortable. Jim, our instructor, did a great job calibrating the instruction and dive to our interests and abilities. We’ve snorkeled the area many times so have seen most of the sea life, but Jim pointed out things we hadn’t seen before or had overlooked. He made it fun and we always felt safe. If you like to snorkel you’ll definitely enjoy scuba diving: It’s a trip to be under 30 feet of water! The introductory scuba diving experience is highly dependent on the quality of the instructor, and I recommend Jim and Maui Dive without hesitation. A few tips: The prices for the introductory dives are pretty competitive so you don’t have to spend a lot of time shopping to get the best price. They also limit their introductory dives to four people, so if you are a party of four you’ve essentially got a private instructor. Do the two-tank dive. Each tank is good for 30 – 40 minutes which goes by pretty fast.

If you need to buy scuba gear on Maui, see Ryan at Maui Dive and Surf in Lahaina. He is very experienced(over 2,500 dives) and very knowledgable about equipment. He is also very friendly and pleasant to deal with.

Snorkel rental. Beach gear. Everything you need. Bookmark now! Ok, phew. Glad I remembered to write this one down this time. Our last trip to Maui, we rented snorkel gear from this place for the week and it was such a good deal. Fast forward 3 years later, and I totally forgot about this place. This should be the second place you stop, the first being the Maui Costco, if you don’t own snorkel gear and need to rent. They can rent gear daily, or by the week, which is your best deal. You can return 24hrs later, but they didn’t seem too strict with the return time, and they are conveniently open until 9pm and open at 7am. We paid $ 7 each for a whole set for a day and it was well worth it. The store is right off highway 30, on the corner of Keawe and the 30, across the street from the Lahaina Cannery Mall. There’s always more than enough parking, and the guys working there are helpful and extremely knowledgeable. The store is pretty big, and they even have a large selection of beach wear. We were able to pick up a pair of aqua socks for the kiddo for $ 12. Not bad considering we forgot to pack a pair from home.
