Hubby got Kalbi and shoyu chicken. I ate the side dishes. It was ok. Not great not bad.

The staff was friendly and the food was great. We ordered meat jun and kimchee fried rice. They were both delicious.

Worth the short walk from Front Street. Good food. Nice people. Generous portions. Interesting selections. Casual atmosphere. Art and Ha, both chefs, studied Korean cooking in Korea(she’s Korean and her family owns a restaurant), Art told us. All the sauces are homemade. We had the soy chicken and the spicy tofu plates. Recommend both.

I loooove Korean food. I was having a craving. And it has variety since It is Japanese and Korean. I got the ramen but it’s not like traditional Japanese, it’s more Korean ramen where it’s spicy. Every time I go to a Korean place I always order jabchae. I’m obsessed with noodles. My husband got the Teri chicken. I totally fulfilled my craving. I’m glad I saw it on the side of the road. Definitely will be coming back next time we are here in Maui.

Ingredients are extremely fresh. The kalbi meat was tender without fat and properly seasoned. The ramen noodle broth was full and tasty. Art is a tremendous cook, this place should have a line out the door.

This place is located in a strip mall away from the touristy part of Lahaina. The ordering process is a bit confusing as you build your meal. Ok it’s not that hard but some options have an upcharge. The food is excellent. Everything is made to order. Our chicken was hot and crispy and sweet and salty all in the same bite. They are also very flexible allowing us to sub out certain things. Overall a great experience.

Fantastic food, so tasty and delicious! Very generous portions, great prices, friendly husband & wife chefs… What’s not to love? I had the spicy squid with brown rice, which comes with 4 sides. Couldn’t finish it, but loved every bite! My daughter had the udon with shrimp tempura — delicious! My husband has the Kalbi with brown rice — also yummy. We ate outside with the background music — perfect. They also have seating inside with air conditioning. Highly recommend this new find, just across from Maui Tacos. You won’t be disappointed!

Don’t let the low key location fool you. This place is underrated and a hidden gem. Coming from Los Angeles where Koreatown and great Japanese food are, the food here is authentic and fresh. I ordered the spicy ramen and the lady ordered the soy chicken plate. We were amazed and saw the chef cook our meals fresh. Service was really nice and the man working there was warm/friendly. Mahalo!

Maui Food Style is the newest addition to our growing list of Maui restaurants. This diamond in the rough won’t be so for long when the news gets around to the foodies around Lahaina. I loved my boneless kalbi beef, which was delicious, as was the seaweed salad. My wife had the Korean chicken, tasty with a law wet spicy flavor. It was lightly battered with just he right crispness. The restaurant is fairly hidden and was formerly Zushi, until last April. The owner, Art, is a personable guy that loves what he does. I learned that his wife, who is Korean, is the creator of the menu. I would highly recommend Maui Food Style to anyone that wants tasty local food at a reasonable price. You won’t be sorry.

Great korean food! Very authentic. Definitely a nice surprise for us finding this hidden gem in Maui. The boss is a very nice guy and the employee there was friendly and sincere too. Highly recommend it!(The boss told us his wife is Korean, that’s why they make the authentic Korean food:)

Went in today based on the reviews. I don’t know how it got so many stars. I ordered the kalbi beef as recommended by the employee there it was so tough to chew. I was expecting more authentic Korean food but don’t expect it here. There’s only 2 people working and they would hide in the back unless taking your order or giving you the food then they hide in the back again. They don’t even have a garbage can inside the restaurant probably so they don’t have to take out their own garbage. There is a small restroom in the plaza but far from the restaurant. Make sure you get a key to get on or will have to walk all the way back. Not coming back again and not worth 14 dollars of chewy beef and frozen fries

Wonderful find for lunch! Great Korean food at a very reasonable price — generous portions, especially given the price! Lots of different options, all of which look great. It took me a while to decide. Average price $ 11-$ 13 for a lunch plate that includes a meat, a starch, and 4 panchan. Our little family had: soy chicken with spicy udon, kalbi with terriyaki udon, kimchee fried rice. Everything was super tasty, and the restaurant is run by a charming family with a cute little baby. Meats were the highlight for us – the soy chicken has a light batter and glaze that is characteristic of Korean fried chicken, and the kalbi is boneless, tender, and well-seasoned — both with generous portions. Stir-fried udon was tasty(my 3-year-old loved it), and nicely chewy. Not exactly traditional udon, but I think the noodles were better than udon. TIP: eat outside on a nice day, or stay inside for some A/C! :) A few comments about the haters: – Don’t be a sourpuss! This is a hard-working family with an infant. Don’t hate based on small things that snobby foodies(which I often am in other contexts given my SF upbringing) are picky out. – Food, like lots of things in Hawaii because of how remote it is, can be pricier than at the mainland. Expect to pay $ 12 – 15 for a very average meal at times, and then find something really tasty and affordable at other times. I find this to be one of the latter instances. – Don’t expect fresh/daily made ramen or daily caught fish from a restaurant about the size of an average sized living room(and doesn’t profess to be either a ramen house nor a seafood restaurant). Not to say that you shouldn’t expect tasty food that is properly handled, but be reasonable, folks.

Have been looking forward to a meal here since moving to Maui 3 months ago. Tonight was the night finally for our 1st visit. What a great experience it was ! Close to their closing time we were treated to a nice visit with the owner, Art who took us thru the menu explaining all the options available — you can virtually create your own meal here choosing from a large selection of protein with either a Korean or Japanese sauce plus a choice of FOUR side dishes. Everything except drinks & ice cream is made from scratch by the owners, 1 of which is Korean. Using family recipes from her family you are treated to a true home cooked meal. I had the Korean Spicy Shrimp plate & my girlfriend had the Japanese Teriyaki Beef plate both of which were delicious ! The shrimp were abundant, very fresh, plump & flavorful. The beef was tender & very flavorful. Their kimchee both traditional as well as their fresh cucumber kimchee are worth a trip back on their own. I will have to become a regular customer there as I need to try all the menu items !! There is also a wide variety of soups including a fantastic looking Seafood Soup & local Rosalani ice cream. We will be back again & again. Kudos to Maui Food Style !!

I drove past this a dozen of times and was curious to stop by and try. Of course i had too look it up and find some pictures of the food and it got my attention, when you order an entrée it comes with 4 sides of banchan! I am a sucker for banchans, and i haven’t had any during my trip so this was like a YES to stop by for lunch. I got here around 2 ish and there was only one guy waiting for his togo order. When he left he gave us a thumbs up for the kimchee fried rice! Anyhow we already ordered so we will wait til next time. I ordered 2 main entrees which was about $ 26. Yikes… Big boy can eat… kk… Entrée 1 Spicy squid, comes with rice or brown rice or noodles. I upgraded it to spicy udon! Then i had chose 4 sides which was pineapple, jalepeno kimchee, fish cakes, pork and eggs. The spicy squid and the jalepeno kimchee was stir fry together with the udon and man was it uhmazing taste! The squid was fresh as i can tell right away with the soft non chewy texture! it was da bomb. com! Get the spicy udon and you won’t regret it! It wasn’t too spicy, but it was medium spice. Banchan The fish cake was a bit dried to my tastebuds where i have had better in sacto cali. The pineapple was so sweet that it was very refreshing after all the spice from the food. Entrée 2 Mahi Mahi with steam rice, and 4 sides, Fish cake, Jalepeno kimchee, Spicy cucumber, The fish was fresh as you can tell on the first bite. The outside is crisp with a lightly battered with the japanese flakes. The fish inside was steaming hot! They gave us some katsu sauce which was yummy! Banchan Now i can tasted the spicy kimchee alone and it had a great flavor but just a bit salty. The rice was fluffy and paired well with the fish. Overall i do like this place. Felt like it was hole in the wall inside a shopping center. This shopping center has other restaurants and right across from this one is a Mexican restaurant where i see its a bit busier than the other ones. There are plenty of parking so parking isn’t an issue here. Anyways i do find the price to be fair, not bad for 2 people on the island. It was filling and yes i got into a food coma after the meal and a brief nap was much needed. Oh and drinks are a dollar for can sodas or a bottle water so it was win win. I do have to say after a few hours i was really thirsty from maybe all the salt they used for their sauces. They say they make their own sauce to marinate their food and after effect i had to consume a lot of water do to the thirst. Anyways yummy food! Thanks for reading and have a Unilocaltastic day! Lets explore Some more Maui!

Tried this place for the first time and it was pretty good. I order the shoyu chicken and I was happy with my selection. As far as my sides, the mac salad could be better. Other than that, the plate was really packed and my tummy was happy! My main complaint about this place is about the woman who took our order. She clearly wrote everything down but still messed up our order. My friend and I ordered the shoyu chicken but we had different sides. But somehow, we ended up with the exact same sides. But I guess we should’ve checked before we left. On top of that, she didn’t seem too friendly or too happy to be there. But the cook/owner came out to greet us and he was really nice and friendly!

Tip: always check reviews to see if it’s actually the owner self-praising. I saw it’s a small run business and 4stars so I tried to support the business. 1) the mahi mahi was store bought frozen + processed(owner confirmed via Unilocal private message). Very fishy aftertaste. I would be too embarrassed to sell this at $ 13 + $ 0.75 for curry. It was bad. So bad that I immediately had stomach pains within 30 min and diarrhea, which the owner claimed I was lying about. $ 10 — $ 13 gets you fresh caught mahi elsewhere easily, but the owner defends himself saying this is impossible and even reported my review to Unilocal.Which brings me to the next point. 2) 35 pictures and«rave» comments were all taken and written by the owner/staff, «Art O»(who later private messaged me). Fooled me to come here to try the«best» mahi with this, Art. Sneaky. Deceptive. This place absolutely doesn’t deserve 4 stars and the owners are deceptive on their Unilocal

These days I only write reviews for places I really like or really dislike. I REALLY liked Maui Food style. The food was tasty, large portions, reasonable prices. My wife got the kalbi and I got spicy pork, we had sides of kimchee, fish cakes, edamame, daichon and mac salad. The main dishes were flavorful and the sides were on par with what you’d get a kbbq in LA. We also shared Korean noodles which were delish. My only warning is you’ll want to take a nap afterwards!

You gotta love Authentic food especially cooked with love by the owner. Coming from LA, we are thankful for the 100 plus Korean restaurant around us but in Maui that will be a different story. I love Authentic food because I feel like a little girl being served by my parents! haha :) I had ramen, with four sides: kimchi, pineapple, macaroni salad and I can’t remember the last one but everything tasted amazing! I love the overall experience! I had such an amazing time talking to the owner before my massage. Thank you for the great service, advice and food!

I stumbled upon this restaurant while searching for Asian restaurants on Unilocal that I have not been to on the westside. After reading the reviews and speaking with a gentleman who was warm and friendly on the phone, I was excited to try it. The location was easy to find, indoor/outdoor seating with a very casual feel that I was looking for. I liked that you could order your protein, then decide how you would like it prepared(Udon: soup, fried or spicy. Ramen or bento style) and it came with 4 Korean sides that you could choose from the pan chan bar and they were all very tasty. I ordered the ramen with Kalbi and my partner ordered the tempura udon. The flavors of both broths were good, however I was disappointed with my ramen. The dish was prepared with instant noodles, the kalbi was raw(which I could not eat) and the dashi was barely hot enough to cook the raw egg. When the server came over, she asked how our food was. I showed her the raw meat to which she replied, «oh sorry», but never offered to take it back to cook, bring out new kalbi or anything at all. I recognize that it could have been a language barrier and I am always willing to try places at least twice. I’m just not sure if the second visit with be in the very near future.
