Yuk. Gristle chicken in every bite. Waste of $. Wouldn’t want anyone else to waste they’re money. Stick to the restraunts on front street. Don’t eat off the grid.

So-so Mexican food — not the worst I’ve ever had, but definitely not very good. Pretty expensive for what it is(but given that almost all food on Maui is expensive, not that shocking). The cashier was very unfriendly — she stared and scowled while taking our order. Given how many other food choices there are in this area, I wouldn’t return. I thought Ohana Tacos was much better.

The one star is less about the food, it’s mainly the service. My party of 4 came in for the first time, and the counter woman was impatiently waiting for us to order. The cook was walking back and forth behind her mumbling expletives. Once we paid(nearly $ 50 for 4 burritos) another party of 4 or so came in and the cook guy was so irritated. I heard him say, fu** this **it! The salsa was not tasty, it was strange tasting, possibly off. The burritos were ok. However, we will NOT return.

Coming from San Diego, we should have known better to try Mexican food on the islands. Not very good when comparing to taco shops in San Diego. If you have eaten authentic Mexican food or real taco shops especially in California or Mexico, I suggest not eating Mexican food in Hawaii. Food was bland, no real taste, hot sauce is just hot(not flavor).

Bare handed food prep ??? …In response to the question by Maui Taco regarding my experience of having my food prepared by a bare handed employee we were there on Monday, Dec 14, 2015 around 4:30pm.

Never had a counter person take my order with their arms crossed and a scowl on their face. She took forever to take our order. She took our money and I had to ask about our change and when I asked her name, she refused and said why. Still don’t know her name so I’m going to call her Dumb White Girl. Sad too because this is an old favorite stop. Food is great for the price and always does me right. I’ll always come back… When she’s not working

Everything made fresh! Love their chicken taco salad! I Highly recommend you to get a «Wet Lahaina» if you love burritos! Service is fast, there’s an outside area to sit and eat :) They’re very friendly! Enjoy!

Yummy! Tacos so big I had to use a fork. Great prices. We’ll definitely eat here again before leaving Maui.

If you’re from So. Cal, you’re probably spoiled when it comes to ‘Mexican’ food, so beware. Our experience wasn’t great — the hard shell taco I had was SOHARD that it cut my gums, seriously. The flavors were just OK, not bad, but OK. The sauces people like so much are similar to those found in most So Cal eateries, so even they were not thrilling. And we get better food here for less money, but Hawaii is notably high, price-wise. We’ve wondered about Maui Tacos on previous visits and decided to try it this time — sorry, it was a first… and last… for us. But… if you are from the midwest/south/east coast, you will probably be impressed!

Im at Maui Tacos and ordered the chicken burrito, I was excited to try this place because I’d heard good things and noticed that they were Zagat rated. I’ll keep it short, my first burrito had a long black hair draped across it, normally I would just leave but I brought the burrito back for a replacement. When I got my replacement, which tasted quite good, I ate about half and noticed another long hair embedded inside the burrito. I brought the second burrito back and they seemed surprised and didn’t offer an apology or another replacement. I would not have accepted another replacement but it would have been a nice gesture at the very least. BEWAREIFCONTAMINATIONINYOURFOODATMAUITACOS!!! Thanks for the reply, we were there for lunch on July 8th

I’m vegan and they had a Paia vegetarian burrito which I could have. All in all it was good but average. Rice, black beans, guac, lettuce, tomatoes. The beans have no lard & the rice isn’t cooked in chicken stock. OK so it was average until I put some lime and their Maui Mex(roasted chile de arbol, tomatillo, cilantro, sweet onion) salsa on it. Oh man, delicious. Highly recommend adding the salsa, has a little kick but not overpowering and great flavor. We also ordered chips and guac which was very average & nothing special.

We have been going to Maui Taco for over 15 years. Something happened to the menu in the past year. Whatever is being served now should not be called Mexican food. Seriously. It’s sad. In Los Angeles we have tons of little mom & pop places that serve fantastic simple Mexican food — similar to what Maui Taco used to offer . Yesterday I had a burrito at Maui Taco. At least what is being passed to unsuspecting tourists as a burrito. What a mess ! I don’t know if the guys are trying to compete with Chipotle or what. In any case the menu has serious identity crisis. Maybe this works with Europeans or tourists from the East Coast but those of us from the American West and Southwest know better All I can say is the owners have lost whatever la Raza cred they used to have. I will be checking out the little Mexican place in the Cannery Mall instead.

Updating my review based on the sarcastic and downright rude response I got from Maui Tacos. I’m not certain but I think I’m being accused of being served delicious, fresh food right out of the microwave but lying in my review to get attention?

Don’t do it. Place is horrible. Extremely low quality and over priced for what you get. Taco Bell is way better.

I’m a vegetarian, and it’s difficult to find restaurants that actually serve true«vegetarian» dishes. I had the Paia Burrito and was explained how the refried beans are cooked and they use soybean oil. It was delicious and I appreciated the time and patience of explanations. The burrito was perfect and with pineapple salsa-it was da bomb!

My wife was in the mood for fish tacos, but funny enough, we were having a hard time finding any. After a Google search we took a chance and were glad we did! ! tt doesn’t look like much, but don’t let that stop you. The prices were very reasonable, which is rare in maui and the food was delicious.

I ordered a chicken burrito and my daughter had the bean and cheese. Reminded me of dog food in a can smell. Barf. I took two bites and that was it. Their salsa bar used to be good but now they have gotten so stingy they eliminated they cilantro, jalepenos, corn salsa and limes from their salsa bar. Blah boring. The table is so wobbly our drinks were sliding off. Place is dirty and ghetto as f++k. Sorry dude you used to be okay but now you just suck and that’s the truth. Even my dad who loves and appreciates most foods said his burrito made him sick. People smoking ciggs right by your table. Kids running around half dressed. Crackheads walking around. I GUESS if you don’t know any better you could stop here for a quick bite but save yourself the disappointment and go to Tortillas around the corner. I guess the owner has other things to worry about besides up keeping his«mexican food joint» PS if you have to microwave most of your foods that’s not real cooking. You only get two stars because the cashier/cook was really sweet. Kudos for that. You lost my business for ever. The only reason tourists go there is because either A: they don’t know better B: they saw the lie of a commercial in their hotel room TV. I still feel sick from those few bites. Pull it together Maui Wackos!

Scrumptious tacos and favorite thus far on the island. All I’ve had are the grilled fish tacos and boy are they tasty. Looking at the rest of the pictures from Unilocalers, the other options seem very appealing. I will definitely try more on my next visit. But as for the tacos, they were made to the T. The salsa and creamy top sauce were very flavorful. I gobbled these up very quickly in a corn tortilla.
