I begged my husband to go here during our honeymoon because the name is so cute. We ordered the 9 pc sashimi combo, the miso phat, and tnt roll(miso the bomb). At first, we thought the sashimi combo was a bit pricey $ 25 for 9 pcs. But each piece is easily double the size of what a normal sashimi piece is. I loved the snapper sashimi. Miso phat and tnt was delicious and hugeeee. Amazing food and service. Come here from 2−4(?) for 15% off if you pay by cash.

Small place with some local ambience. The service was good, that’s why I put two stars. The girl in charge(or a lady) with beautiful tattoos was nice and attentive. However the food was mediocre at best and highly overpriced. In San Francisco, the pinnacle of bloated prices, I could get a similar meal for half of what I paid here. The fish was not tasty at all, and given the fact that this place sits literally in the middle of of the Pacific, it’s odd. Also, after I sat down I realized there was not a single Japanese in the kitchen. Kinda odd for a Japanese joint. I know it’s Maui, but $ 6.50 for a cucumber roll? Come on… that cucumber must’ve been extremely hard to catch.

Very small place– and that is the only unfortunate part about our visit– Some of the most delicious and fresh sushi– friendly people. We happened to pick the right time and sat at the sushi bar. We are so glad we stopped in here– from beginning to end– after we received the spicy Baked salmon sample they have to start off… we ordered the TNT roll, and let the chef pick two other rolls with our standard request«we love spicy, raw, and cooked» the other two rolls were the The Rainbow Roll and the 007. All were amazing! I also ordered the Butterfish– a rarity for me to see in on any mainland sushi menus. It was a little more done on the outside compared to having it from previous– but never the less it melts in your mouth– so yummy Hope to make it back here before heading back home

With a name like Miso Phat, how could you pass this place up? We didn’t…but we weren’t impressed at all, which was a big let down because I wanted to like this place… especially with all of the rave reviews on here. Can we talk about the prices?! I’m not a cheap skate when it comes to quality food(majority of the time) — you pay top dollar for good food. But…$ 18 for a rainbow roll? A spider roll? Say wha? We had our three growing teenagers with us and our small lunch turned into a pricey not so filling stress fest. This review isn’t all about complaining– the waitress was exceptionally nice and she informed us about the BYOB option and the 15% off when paying our bill in cash, so that was cool.

This cozy spot serves up really fresh fish. The specialty rolls are particularly good. We highly advise trying the TNT roll with spicy tuna… so satisfying. Service was great and the owner Shawn is truly a nice guy. If you find yourself in the Kapalua area, definitely worth checking it out. They also have a location in Kihei as well. We look forward to our next meal here.

Fantastic, fresh fish. The owner was in, and was showing us the fish that he had caught that day, then we watched the chef filet it. Some of the best Sushi I have eaten. Friendly service. Great fun, worth a visit, don’t let the strip mall front throw you. Really tiny place, but they also have take out.

THEBESTMEAL I HAVEEVERHADINHAWAII… and maybe the best sushi I have ever had in my life! The owner is a jovial fellow, who is very passionate about sushi. He gave us the most INCREDIBLE homemade sauce(a vinegar chili sauce TODIEFOR). Paired with the QUALITY fish, it’s amazing. I can’t stop thinking about my meal at Miso Phat. The name might be a bit ridiculous, but the sushi was INCREDIBLE. GO. Go early. And enjoy every bite! Oh, and BYOB! :)

Hands down. BESTSUSHIPLACEEVER! Hawaii ruined sushi for me because nothing in Sac taste like it :(. I was heartbroken when my vacation was over T__T. The service here was amazing! They let us in 15 minutes early before opening. Very creative logo and names! haha my friends and I were amused by the menu! We ordered: Dynamite Roll(Miso Out-a-site), 69 Roll(Miso Horny), and Miso Phat Roll. They were delicious! The grilled tuna tasted fresh and flavorful! It took them about 10 – 15 to bring out the orders, but it was worth the wait! Also, you can bring purchased alcohol into the restaurant! This place will be my first stop when I come back Lahaina :) Highly recommended!

Best place to get sushi in Maui hands down. Sean, the owner goes on his ship, Shiso Phat, to catch his own fish. In comparison to places like Sanseis, the wait is much shorter and the fish is way fresher. You are just gonna hafta trust and go here and wait your turn. Green tea ice green is also homemade and FREAKINGAMAZING!!! Please go here for the love of God!!!

10 stars! Truly remarkable. Sashimi was Wow !!! –it had the freshest Uku from the shiso phat boat –brought in by the owner Shawn. Also mouth watering Hamachi and local Hawaiian big eye tuna. My wife truly loved it. As a vegetarian I had the veggie maki with cream cheese and futo maki– a veggie delight. The owner, the staff and the ambience were truly fun and added to the character and flavor of the entire experience. A must try!

I wish i could remember what exactly I ordered here but all I can say that this sushi was absolutely amazing! My husband and I came to MIso Phat(without a reservation) as I had read the great reviews on Unilocal. It was about 10 minutes away from Kaanaapali, where we were staying. We arrived around 8.00pm and it was packed. I put my name down, and after 10 minutes or so we were seated. We sat at the bar which was a bit cold with the A/C blaring down near us. As for the food, the sushi was absolutely amazing. We ordered two dishes and it was a lot of food for the both of us. The rolls are huge, and very filling! You will find that this place is very casual and although casual, the price is on par with what you par around Maui. You’re looking at around $ 25 per plate but was totally worth it! The service was great and all the staff members were very chatty and welcoming. I would come here again!

When we planned this trip to Maui I said«I am going to eat all of the fish» :) Well — I tried here. I just kept ordering and ordering — the quality of the fish was **amazing**. I think I could just hang out there and order hamachi nigiri all day long. The rolls are huge and they had some pretty interesting combos. The service was good and they allow BYOB so we brought in a bottle of Prosecco(purchased right next door!) since nothing goes better with sushi than bubbly :) After writing this, I want to go back and eat MORE!!!

Wow!!! I love sushi… Obviously they do at Miso Sushi too! Awesome food, fair prices and awesome owner and story to this place. Have already told over 15 people in the two days since I’ve had it and just sat down for another meal… This place is a real diamond in the rough!

This place has delicious sushi and sashimi and rolls(basically everything). It’s a small place but they try to get you seated ASAP. We came on a weekday night at 7pm and were seated in 20 minutes. As we were leaving at 8:30 though, it seemed that a much longer line had formed. The poke bowl hit the spot for some group members and we got the sashimi variety tray which was perfect for our group. The fish were fresh, buttery, and excellent.

Absolutely a 5-star review. I was in Maui on vacation a few weeks ago and we found this place a few blocks down from our condo. It has a strong«locals only» feel and seems to be a hidden gem on the island. We went twice in three days! The restaurant is TINY to be prepared to wait if you have a larger group. There were three of us, and we sat at the sushi bar both nights. The sushi chefs are super fun to chat with while they’re making the food, and it’s nice to see all of the different dishes being made. The sushi itself was great. It all tasted very fresh and seemed to have been caught within the past 24 – 48 hours. We LOVED the poke bowl and all of the fresh nigiri. Last recommendation: the place is BYOB, so that can help keep your meal a bit cheaper. We were only drinking tea, so we didn’t bring anything, but there is a liquor store close by, plus Whaler’s Village around the corner.

This is a 110% 5 star review. If I could give them more, I would. We sat at the bar, the chefs were nice, and recommended what was the most fresh. We hail from Portland and sushi there is damn good; but nothing compared to Miso Phat. Everything has been caught within the past couple days, and caught by the owner himself. I can’t wait till our next trip back to Maui, Miso and Star noodle are at the top of our list. Seriously, if you are sushi fans, put this place on your list, move it to the top of the list. It’s fucking amazing.

TIP: 15% discount if you pay it by cash! Like everyone else’s review, MISO Phat is truly awesome! We had a sashimi combo and 4 rolls, absolutely loved everything we had. The freshness and quality of sashimi was to die for, the rolls are very creative as well. I personally love Miso Phat roll the most, I would have love to try Ahi Poke Bowl if i was able to eat more. Too bad I was leaving the next day, otherwise I’d certainly come back again.

Place is a bit on the pricey side but if you go during lunch hours you can get a 10% discount which helps with the overall price. The parking can be a bit dicey since its in a strip mall and there isnt alot of spots. if you come here with a group be prepared to wait as it is extremely small place and we only got seated quick cause there was 3 of us and just that many spots at the bar. Staff is super helpful and the rolls we got were good(TNT and Spicy Salmon) It also doesnt get any fresher wince they have their own boat they take out to catch the stuff they serve.

Miso Phat came highly recommended by the staff at the Westin. Unilocal popular as well. 398 reviews at 4.5 stars as of this writing. Curiously got the best of us. That was just yesterday when we had dinner there. We’re still talking about the size and the freshness of their dishes. The mgr Tod is a people person perfect for his job. He made everybody feel at home. He personally welcomes every customer that walks in. He explains the menu. The TNT(Miso da Bomb) is raw and the TNA Roll is cooked. Rainbow Roll(Miso Pretty). TNT is this: Shrimp Tempura and Crab Roll topped with Ahi Poke and served with Unagi Roll and Agave Honey. $ 25. It’s huge. Rainbow Roll: Traditional Cali Roll wrapped with tuna, yellow tail, salmon, topped with Tobiko and sesame seeds.$ 20. We heard from people that the T-shirts they sell are as famous as their big fat roll. So we went and looked for one but small sizes are pretty in demand. But don’t despair they make them every Friday. Fast service. Totally fresh fish. They explained what fish they caught for the day in their boat Shiso Phat. No alcohol but sodas are available. Don’t fret. It’s a BYOB place and there is a liquor store next door. This place tho… makes me wanna say.#misohorny… Lol

Miso Phat is a local sushi restaurant with minimalist approach in the décor department. There décor consist of branded hats T-shirts and hats, and a few photos of the owners prized possessions that make this place an amazing sushi spot, their boat called“Shiso Phat”. One could conclude that this is a tourist trap based on the offerings of wearables, sold in their apparel store next door, but by no means this is true. In fact, the fish used in preparation of their sushi is all local, including fish caught by the restaurant from Shiso Phat, aside from the salmon, as it is not indigenous to Hawaii. The manager, Todd, is very personable and informative. When we set down he offered information on that day’s fresh catch and other fresh fish locally sourced. He warned us about the«Miso Phat» sizes and suggested we begin with a couple of rolls and add as we please. We ordered the TNT Roll(Miso the Bomb), which is a shrimp tempura and crab roll topped with ahi poke and garnished with Unagi sauce and agave honey. We also had my usual, the Rainbow Roll(Miso Pretty) topped with Tobiko and sesame seeds. Saying that these rolls were generous portions would be an understatement and an insult to the establishment; both were served a plate roughly two feet long. I immediately appreciated the restaurant’s name when attempting to devour a piece of the rainbow roll, struggling to open my mouth wide enough. Sharing these two rolls and Edamame was super filling. For perspective, at most places I typically have at least two specialty rolls and a cucumber roll to myself to fulfill my hunger. If you love sushi, this place will not disappoint in the freshness, quality, flavor and portions department.
