Ono ono ono! Great Okazuyas are rare in Hawaii these days! But this here in Lahaina is a gem! Breaded Teri beef is delicious! Home made chili fantastic! A must stop in Lahaina!

Local told us to stopped in for authentic dishes– I’m so glad we came! Awesome spam musubi! And the shoyu chicken was juicey and delicious as well! Wish we could try everything! Pepper steak with white rice had plenty of favor :-) I left one star out bc the service was ok… Maybe she was having a bad day… I would highly recommend for anyone to stop in and try this cute deli… Perfect for quick grab and go.

BESTSPAMMUSUBIHERE!!! Came here by the recommendation of our hotel manager and it was excellent. The spam is made there and so so good and the rice is perfectly cooked. Everything is also very well priced. We each got one and it was so good we had to go right back in for more. Also tried their stuffed cabbage and banana muffins which were both delicious as well. Steady stream of customers came into the little deli even early in the morning and I can see why. I could probably come here for a spam musubi every day for the rest of this trip. Definitely check it out!!!

It’s been years since I last stepped foot in here, but a recent bento that was bought for me sparked my Unilocal engine to write a review! ATMOSPHERE: I remember it as a simple mom & pop shop that’s still located in the Old Lahaina Center(where Foodland is.) They have a small grocery selection and best yet, prepared foods! Parking can be a pain with the numerous businesses that share the parking lot. FOOD: Boiled Peanuts — I won’t let this count towards my overall rating because it happened years ago, but we ended up with a bag of old peanuts, as the exterior was slimy! Yuck. They didn’t smell, but I declined to eat them as I’ve never had boiled peanuts that were slimy. My spouse, who is from the mainland, kept eating them anyway, didn’t get sick and is still alive today lol. Hot Dog, Eggs & Fried Rice Bento– Like judging a book by its cover, the bento, especially the fried rice, looked boring and under-flavored. I was pleasantly surprised at the tastiness of the rice as soon as it hit my tastebuds, especially since it wasn’t decked out with any veggies, meats or decorative toppings. Zero condiments were needed on it. The scrambled eggs were fluffy, the red hot dog was good, and the portion size was perfect. Highly recommended breakfast option! OVERALL: I know where I’m stopping by the next time we do a beach day on the west side!

All right this place really is all what it is written to be — like a legend. What a deal! Locals guided us here as we wouldn’t have found this place on our own as it is hidden in a corner. The pork adobo was what I have missed from long ago living in the Bay Area. The shoyo chicken is a specialty of theirs and the katsu was gobbled up. Hey at $ 8 a plate you can’t go wrong. It was so much food! Oh and yes we got some of the spam musubi(couldn’t walk w/o that)

I’ve heard about this place for years but never got around to checking it out until just recently. Love it! It’s awesome to go to a locally owned store and eat local grinds. My son loves this place since he’s been introduced and never fails every Saturday«Mom can we go Nagasako’s?» I lose choke money here but all worth it!

Need something to take to eat at the beach while frolicking in the ocean in Lahaina? This is the place for some great ono take out food. I stopped in to pick up lomi lomi salmon, spam musubi’s, teriyaki and fried chicken lunch plates to go. Easy take out, GOOD local food.

This place brought me back to my childhood growing up in Waipahu on Oahu. Small Japanese deli with local food that you would hit up before going on a field trip. The shoyu chicken was so good. It was my breakfast almost every day of the ten days we were on vacation. They even have brown rice! My wife loved the hamburger steak with gravy. It’s great place to hit up if you are spending a day at the beach for snacks and lunch. The day we left they had beef stew on the menu and I had to try it. It was soooooo friggin good.

Fried chicken and spam musubi to-go is perfect for a long car ride or picnic lunch. Don’t expect to eat there, unless you like eating in strip mall parking lots. This is one of Maui’s best cheap eats!

Unfortunately they were out of spam musubi when I was here so I definitely have to come back again to try it. We had the breakfast meals and it was very affordable and yummy. I love the spam and the sausages! The scrambled eggs were a bit too bland unfortunately. I ordered my breakfast with rice and had them pour some gravy on top of my rice. Yummy!

Small local shop in Lahaina, fresh deli and food for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast specials were less than 5 bucks and ala carte was cheap too. I was skeptical of their loco moco because they use scrambled eggs but the patty made up for it. Patties were home made and definitely fresh. Without the loco moco I would rate them 3 stars!

Was looking for a quick breakfast spot and the first two places we stopped by had long lines so my friend and I popped in Nagasako since the Unilocal reviews seemed pretty good. Okazu ya offerings were pretty decent, not quite as huge as some of the places on Oahu. My friend and I decided to just get the $ 5 breakfast special plates. Fried rice, scrambled eggs and a choice of meat. We both had the pork link sausages. Breakfast was simple and tasty. A nice portion that was filling without being too big. I also grabbed a few spam musubi’s because there was a sing proclaiming them Voted the Best on Maui. They ended being okay… nothing outstanding and not much different than you could get from 7 – 11 on Oahu. but then again, people vote 7 – 11’s spam musubi’s the«best». Nice place for a quick and cheap meal but I’d probably stand in line at the other places nearby next time.

Stumbled upon this while looking for Zushi(currently closed). As hole-in-the-wall as it gets and all the stuff are on display for gawking. My first thought: this is gonna be a food adventure, everything looked so alien to me. I had my first stab with the chow mein with shoyu chicken for lunch and ate it outside while talking to some locals who also love this place. Couldn’t get enough and ordered the katsu, stuffed cabbage and spam musubi to go. Hiked the Lahaina Pali trail and enjoyed the take-out after with the sunset. The katsu got soggy but otherwise it’s still good. Stuffed cabbage was great, spam musubi was addicting. Overall, it’s unpretentious polynesian-fusion comfort food, so be warned that it’s gonna cost you burning off those cals!

Best, super fresh, and most homemade tasting spam musubi on the island! SO good. This is an awesome local spot for takeout. Cant wait to come back and try the rest of their food — it looks yummy!

Good plate lunch place. Traditional Okazuya maybe not anymore but a good choice of daily local favorites. Roast Pork with gravy, Shoyu chicken, long rice, curry hamburger stew. And etc.

A surprise find in Lahaina. This place is very small and basically has no seating so you need to take your to go box and go elsewhere. Buying food at restaurants can get pricey here so I was glad to see that a boxed meal was around $ 10 or less. They also take credit card too which is nice because a lot of the cheaper places are cash only. We got the chicken and vegetables with rice and macaroni salad. The vegetables were carrots and zucchini with some miscellaneous stuff. The sauce was a basic stir fry but it was GOOD. It tasted like home cooked food. The chicken was also not dry which is a plus. The macaroni salad was a bit mayo heavy but not salty surprisingly. The rice tasted like Japanese rice and not that instant crap that some restaurants give. We also got a spam musubi roll. It was pretty tasty but I’m still a little wary about embracing musubi as a daily occurrence.

Small and dirty little shop with unfriendly service, but their spam musubis were amazing. Probably, the best on the island. Not sure how they make something as simple as spam, rice and seaweed so addictive. We got a few of these every morning as a snack and I could have easily eaten half a dozen to myself.

So today I was on Maui… as I was doing a job at a bank. Upon finishing up the job, it was now time to grab something quick before I head back to the airport. I felt like a spam musubi, but I didn’t feel like driving back to Kahului to look for a local joint over there, so I decided to just look around the strip mall, to see if I could find something… Next thing you know, I see this place called«Nagasako Okazu-Ya /Deli». I see a lot of locals, & tourist going in & out of this place so I decided to pop on in, to see what’s it was all about… As I walked in, I see the spam musubi, but it got the override once I saw the fried chicken… then I thought, — «man I better nix that idea too, cuz I gotta meet my friends — Cathy & Sharon for a „Fried Chicken Friday“ one day», so I better take a pass on this… I scan all their delicious dishes behind the counter, and I see one of my all time favorites(besides beef stew), I see the«Shoyu Chicken». I ended up getting the Shoyu Chicken plate — which consisted of 3 pieces of tender, fall off the bone, with a slight sweetness chicken, two scopes of brown rice, and veggies(corn/green bean mix). What can I say about the grub… chicken was really good! I like it when the chicken meat is so soft that it easily falls off the bone. As for the veggies, which consisted of a mixture of corn & green beans… this tasted like it was just canned vegetables mixed together… a little«bleh» for me. Brown rice… how can you mess that up… but I’m glad they offered it. There is no place to sit inside… this is like a «kitchen counter», where you buy your food, they go outside & find someplace to eat it. But a small tip for you folks — there are a few(3) small concrete tables & stools outside, just adjacent to Nakasako’s, so you can grind your food there. Parking is not a problem, as there is a ton of parking at the strip mall. There are other business in this mall, like Foodland, Starbucks, American Savings Bank, etc. … Damage for the grub — Dirt Cheap… plate was $ 7.50, but I added a bottled soda, so it came in just under $ 10.00, not bad at all… it hit the spot just right, as I had to get a very early start this morning. Chance ‘em gang!

SPAMMUSUBI and FRIEDCHICKEN in Lahaina! Opens super early(5:30am!), runs out of food fast! GRAB and GO! Cash only? I don’t know. I went during a power outage, so that’s all they took. Is this supposed to be a secret? Thank you Russell C. P. S. If you’re from Oahu, this place reminds me of Paalaa Kai market. Yeah, THAT kind of fried chicken.
