Olowalu is exactly what the name implies. Fast quick simple General Store. If you’re heading to the beach, coming from the beach, camping on the beach or on your way back to your hotel. This is a convenience store to pick up stuff you forgot or need. They’ve got Shave Ice. Roselini ice cream, coffee, food, $ 2 hot dogs, sweets, snacks and souvenirs like a Spam Musubi travel pillow. They also have hot musubi’s ready to go.

Great shave ice, best one we’ve found in Maui. Great selection of flavors made by a great dude who is quick to chat you up and help you pick out the best ones!

Perfect place to get treats and supplies while camping just across the road at Camp Olowalu. Pretty yummy musubi for a convenience store. Lots of cold drinks, a small but nice selection of last minute snorkeling and fishing gear and even some souvenirs if you’re looking for that kinda thing.

Shaved ice was the best. Got the passion fruit, guava, mango flavor and the POG flavor. The guy was super nice and allowed me to have both. Hubby got the guys favorite(can’t remember what it was) but just ask the dude. It was really good but didn’t get a chance to fully enjoy it bc most of the shaved ice fell off on the table(accidently tilted the cup :/). Also their masubi was awesome got the regular and jalapeño. The terayki was good but a little sweet. Sorta tasted like Chinese sausage.

This review is for the spam musubi alone– YUM! The best on west Maui, in my opinion. We went to several different places and this one is by far the best! Friendly and welcoming staff, as well, thank you!

Sweet ladies serving up much needed shave ice! Super patient with my kids who were trying to decide which flavored they wanted! Picked up a pie next door for desert… what’s not to like!

Hands down the best shaved ice ever that I experience in Maui, every bite was full of flavor. They really know how to prep their shaved ice like a pro, even better then matsumoto in Oahu. Make sure you add the snow cap you will be amaze how its fully covered to perfection. I still remember my first experience and glad I randomly stopped by, took my first bite and said OMG its so fluffy and perfect! No ice chunks and perfect amount of flavor every bite. Why is this place not known for it!

Small gas convenience store with great musubi! Well not as great as the musubi place in Waikiki, but much better than your average supermarket musubi. They do not accept cards for small purchases, but have their ATM.

Shave ice!!! They have Roselini ice cream and every single flavor is excellent. If you check in every time you will get 1 scoop for free.

Musubi! That’s all. It’s the best musubi. The other reviewers complaining about high prices of everyday things: what did you expect? Go to Safeway another five minutes up the highway.

High priced pit stop, next door to Leodora’s. We came by hoping to find more selections of «made in Maui» kinds of things but aside from the jams and jellies and usual Hawaiian coffee, everything else was pretty much what you’d find in a Hawaiian 7 – 11. This is the kind of store where you’d stop by if you were camping or beaching in the area and needed something like some snacks or fishing supplies you wouldn’t hesitate to stop in. They have some cooking foods like bento boxes but I’m not sure if they’re any good. Traffics on the main road can be tricky so be patient.

It’s hard to review this store. We came for the shave ice. The shave ice was great. The owner who made it for us was so mean and rude we now remember him as Maui’s «Shave Ice Nazi.» What you want! Tell me now! NOW! Do not talk to me. Do not smile at me. Now go away and never step foot in this store again. Mach schnell! Raus! Apparently he is nicer to locals. Or something.

The shave ice was okay, but was very syrup-y at the end. The person who helped us seemed much more friendly with the locals than he was with us. He was a bit rude and didn’t seem to want to help us. That was unfortunate after such a nice dining experience at Leoda’s.

Great little store stocked with local items from around the island along with convenient store staples like drinks, chips, candies, and other snackables. Tried their pulled pork sandwich in a hot dog bun and their red hot dogs which were good but not great. They also, have homemade Maui ice-cream. A great place to stop for beach supplies.

The Olowalu General Store is a hidden treasure located at mile marker 15 on Honoapi’ilani Highway. The staff is so nice and very helpful. This little general store offers a wide variety — plate lunch, snacks, supplies, Maui-made products. After a long trek in hot weather, we stopped by for a shave ice to cool down and quench our thirst. Wow! So delicious and huge. Coconut fans definitely should have the Olowalu Special Shave Ice. Then we bought some boiled peanuts for a snack. Their boiled peanuts are made with star anise. Yum. Parking is along the side of the building by Leoda’s.

A convenience store located next to Leoda’s Kitchen along the main highway. It’s a great pit stop for cold drinks, snacks, candy, shave ice, bentos, sandwiches and souvenirs. The hubby and I bought bottled water and spam musubis here for the road. The musubis tasted great as an afternoon snack. I loved the teriyaki flavor of the spam! With a wide variety of grab-n-go items, we would definitely come here again.

Hungry??? Don’t get a Snickers, get yourself a Tery beef sandwhich! The sandwhich is pretty legit if you want something light. The place is a lilttle convinience store and the Teri beef sandwhich is a hot sandwhich with chunks of shredded beef with cucumber on a hot dog bun with Japanese Mayo. You can’t really see it displayed as its made to order and the ingredients are behind the cash register. If you want to make it a meal instead of a snack you might want to get two or three of them with some shaved ice. The sandwhiches are small and perfect for a small snack.

Right next door to Leoda’s, this local stop looks like it’s been here for years. Nothing fancy inside, just a family owned convenience store, but there’s a small kitchen for plate lunches($ 10). They also have bentos, shave ice, and some simple baked goods. The guava cheesecake($ 4) looked good. If only Leoda’s wasn’t next door with their awesome pies.( ) My favorite part was their wall of fame.( ) ( )

This was definitely the place to stop for the popular Hawaiian cold treat, shaved ice! Right off highway 30, it was conveniently located right off the road in between Lahaina and the airport in Kahului. Olowalu reminds me a lot of the many family owned convenient stores you see in the Philippines. In fact, In addition to shaved ice and the normal convenience store goods, they also serve hot Filipino dishes. One day they had chicken adobo and lumpia. The shaved ice is very good here and they had many flavors to choose from. The lychee and watermelon flavors were sweet and refreshing. Friendly people that work here. When your in the area definitely a convenient place for a pit stop!
