A friend and I did the whole girls get away to Maui. So glad she researched everything, while I worked. This place was cheaper than the other«fancy“hotels and we were just there to relax and enjoy our mini vacation. The owner of The Ilikahi is awesome and such a good host and shows your room to you with lots of detail. Just a 10 to 15 minute walk from Front St, this location is ideal for a couple of friends, a couple or whoever is down for walking and exploring the city of Lahaina via Front St.

March 17 — 21, 2015 My husband and I were looking for a unique place to stay while on Maui. We were in Honolulu the week prior and needed a break from the noise, hustle and bustle of a huge hotel. We booked The Ilikahi last October well in advance of our vacation. A few weeks before our arrival, we received an email from the owners welcoming us and asking us if we had any pre arrival questions. WOW, what personal service! We inquired as to washer and dryers on premise, which they have! We asked for extra pillows and a room fan — check. And, we wanted to know which Luau to book and where to eat. All of our needs were met before we arrived. Upon arrival, we were both blown away by the beauty of the exterior and interior of the buildings. It is a lush jungle surrounded by water fountains and birds singing. It is truly a piece of paradise just blocks from downtown Lahaina. It’s a 10 minute walk to the beach — oh yes, beach towels are in your room, too. We took a day trip to Whalers village where all the big hotels are, and we both looked at each other and said — OMG we are so happy not to be there with all the noise, and able to retreat to our beautiful bungalow at the end of the day. We stayed in the Ginger Suite — which is a one bedroom with a full kitchen. We ate quite a few meals at home — the Safeway grocery store is only a few miles away. I have to say, that the owner WALLACE was such a lovely and kind person. He made us feel like we’d known him for years.

I loved my stay at these neat and pretty Balinese style places! This is classified as a boutique hotel but it felt more like a nice spacious townhome. Our unit had a large bedroom with king size bed, and a large living room with a nice big sofa and full kitchen! We were able to cook eggs and make our own breakfast each morning since there’s a Safeway nearby. The rooms were clean and it came with a nice hair dryer. The kitchen was also stocked with cook ware. I thought this place was easy to find at night from the airport since I used my iphone. I’m not sure why the other reviewer said it was hard to find. And this location is great since it’s very close to Front St. where all the main restaurants and shops are in Lahaina. It’s also close to Kaanapali Beach which is very popular. This place is also more affordable than the hotels on the beach on Maui. The owner Wallace was friendly and he greeted us right when we arrived and took the time to show us the unit and circled places on the map to help us get acquainted. The grounds are tranquil since you can hear the sounds of the fountains as you sleep. I felt very relaxed here and it was hard to leave this island. Next time I’m in Maui I will likely book this place again!

I stayed at the Ilikahi this weekend with my boyfriend because my usual place was already booked. Turns out I am glad that it was booked because I would not have experienced this amazing little place. I can’t wait for my next trip to Maui so I can book a night at the Ilikahi again. The bed and breakfast is tucked away and a little difficult to find. Once we found out to go down the long driveway we were greeted with rustic little cottages and the most beautiful garden I have seen in years. The garden wraps around every walkway and building. I suffer from bad allergies but the plants in this garden did not bother me at all. I even asked for a tour of the place because I wanted to see more. The cottages are traditional Hawaiian homes that are open to the breeze. To my understanding they are ran completely off of solar power and even have solar water heating. The couple that own the place were very nice and friendly. They made the place feel like home. They told me they used to provide fruits from their organic garden for all the guests but nobody ate them so they started providing other snacks instead. I’m almost sure if you ask for the fresh, organic fruits from their garden they would be happy to provide.

Remarkably serene lodging — the robust, rustic architecture and lush tropical landscape surround set it a world apart. It is one thing to seek simple sanctuary in this crowded and hectic world, quite another to actually find it!
