Leonard’s malasadas are legendary. If you see their familiar red and white striped truck parked on the side of the road, DONOTPASSITUP! I have dreams about these tasty Portuguese donuts. Try the custard filled ones!

tried a few different places, including bakeries that a few locals said were better than Leonard’s, all were good, but Leonard’s is the best. their malasadas are perfect.

Few things are better than grabbing a dozen of Leonard’s tantalizingly delicious malasadas and scarfing them down at Laie Point, located just down the road. These soft and chewy rounds of dough are served warm and rolled in plenty of cinnamon sugar. They also come filled with a variety of custards, although haupia is my hands-down favorite. This location takes cash only, but it only takes a few bucks to be in malasada heaven.

Mi nombre es malasada pero yo es un churro! During transport my maker lost his churrera so now I’m a malasada. I’m actually much dough-ey-er. Instead of having a long ridged tube-like shape(courtesy of my lost churrera) my maker rolls me into a ball and flattens me ever so slightly. In my center there is a lot of dough and I’m not very crispy because I don’t have ridges anymore. Of course I still take dips in boiling oil and I’m still sweet from sugar and cinnamon. I miss being a churro, but it’s very nice here in paradise and I still taste muy delicioso! Adiós and mahalo!
