There are three things I consider when deciding where to shop. Selection, price, and customer service. Let’s look at the first two… I live less than a mile from here. A couple years ago, Angelos was the only nearby choice for craft beer and wine that didn’t come out of a box. Fast forward to now, and there is a family owned grocery store across the street with a larger selection of both. Even better, that store has much cheaper prices. Angelos used to be able to get away with charging 12 – 14 bucks for a 4 pack(the reason for the range is that the price is rarely listed on the beer-you only find out what you’re paying when at the register). Not any more! While no longer the only game in town, Angelo has refused to bring down his prices to competitive levels. I’m guessing he’s counting on customer service to retain his customers. So let’s talk about that… Twice now, Angelo has sold either me or my girlfriend a bottle of wine that appears to be a great bargain(marked down to ten bucks from 25ish). The first time, the wine was completely spoiled. We tossed it, and considered it a fluke. The next time, the wine was absolutely wretched. I’m talking tasting notes that include«hints of burned hair» and«finished like gasoline». Fool me once… my guess is that the heavy discount is to clear his spoiled or disgusting wines from inventory rather than provide his loyal customers a great wine at a great price. Also, after having gone there twice a week for months, one of the other guys that sometimes runs the place when Angelo isn’t around closed the door on me ten minutes before the closing time posted on the door. I’m in and out in two minutes, so apparently they need to close early more than they need my business. The reason for the two stars is that Angelo allows a couple guys to sell Christmas trees out of their parking lot in the winter. Those guys have both great prices and great customer service! In short, go for the Christmas trees. If you’re looking for beer or wine, go across the street or even to the gas station around the corner, which now sells some craft beer as well.

So the prices may be a little higher. He doesn’t have cheap stuff either. Great selection and even has cigars. Supporting local stores is always a good thing :)

By far the best little liquor store in the area! The owner was super friendly and helped us pick out a great bottle of wine. Wine and craft beer selection was better than places twice it’s size. I will definitely be back!

This adorable little liquor store had an amazing selection of beers, dogfish head, founders, flying dog. The beer was reasonably priced and the owner was extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
