I’m always impressed with the deliciousness of the food no matter what I order, even though it may be a bit overpriced

After being sorely disappointed by the dining options in the area, my mother and I came across Grill No. 43 while stopping at Starbucks. We were seated at a high top table by the bar, with which I was initially displeased. Our drink orders were taken quickly but we were a little confused about who exactly was our server for most of our meal. as we were served by at least three staff members. On the plus side, you can tell that all of the staff was invested in customer satisfaction. My mother had a wonderful martini and I had a fantastic glass of Malbec. We were very pleased with the lively but cool atmosphere and our entrees left nothing to be desired. I ordered the salmon, which was cooked to absolute tender perfection. We were able to take our time and enjoy our little stay. The bartender, Anthony, is a gem and was warm, friendly and conversational without any loss of efficiency.

Susan has been my waitress on several occasions. She has always been over the top with her friendly and knowledgeable service. I will keep going back to Grille 43, not only because the food and drink are outstanding, but because Susan makes me feel so welcome. Highly recommended.

I’m going against the grain here by saying that Grille 43 isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be… maybe that’s because I’m a food snob and I’ve been to other very similar restaurants that have exceeded my expectations unlike Grille 43. I really tried to give Grille 43 the benefit of the doubt after hearing such raving reviews about it from peers and co-workers, but in the end I was disappointed. Although Grille 43 has a modernized and somewhat comfy interior, it was almost too comfy which made me feel crowded, as if the constant hovering and pushiness of the waitress wasn’t enough. My fiancé and I had been meeting another party of two whom had arrived before us and when we arrived our waitress practically rushed us to order. Everything was rushed — we were pretty much forced to order before our coats were even off, we were rushed to eat as the waitress kept coming by to swipe our plates and we were rushed to leave. Call me crazy, but it was almost as if we weren’t wanted in the restaurant. Besides the not-so-upstanding service, I was also unimpressed with the food selection and the prices that went along with them. I have seen overpriced items, but I hadn’t seen ‘overpriced’ like it was here — I’m sorry but who the hell charges $ 25 for a frickin salad? I can guarantee you there is no salad in the world that’s that good… unless it’s laced with gold which this was not… unfortunately. I didn’t get a salad(because I’m an avid meat lover) so I opted for a burger — one of their cheaper items — which was about $ 15. It was a descent burger but nothing wowed me and to be honest, I felt a little jipped because I can go to any known specialty burger joint and get a way, way better burger for less than that. That’s saying something don’t you think? As if this wasn’t enough, they also have very little parking, unless of course you want to throw more money away and pay for valet. Another point I should make is that, opposing what past reviewers have said, there is not a large beer section — it’s actually a pretty crappy beer selection, for the record. I didn’t mean to go off a rant, guys, but you should know what you’re getting and believe me when I say you can do much better.

Went there for an early Valentine’s Day. The special of short ribs was excellent. only issue I had was one waiter was too attentive and laid it on so thick that it seemed so in sincere. There is a time to visit a table but there is a time you just need to leave the customers alone.

Odd placing and almost drove by it. No parking and had to park in the Walgreens parking lot and then climb over mounds of ice to get in the back lot… Very odd. Ordered a soda with lunch and the flavor was way off… Both myself and my boss noticed. We then both just got bottled water. I ordered a burger medium rare and it was cooked properly but very overly greasy to the point where there was grease under my burger when my plate was delivered. The temp was good on the order and fries were okay, though they could have been a little warmer. Service was quick which I appreciate for a lunch. Bill was high for a lunch at over $ 45 for two.

A neighborhood gem! Its family owned and operated, welcoming, ah mazing dishes, great ambiance, a bit of a squeeze on space but overall, a good go to for lunch or dinner! We love their carry out and cozy meals in restaurant. We have dined there since their opening. Even picked up food for loved ones in hospitlal. Our family loves their calamari and I believe their hamburgers are outstanding! Mothers day brunch was also outstanding and well executed. The bar has great top local talent for entertainment and professional bartenders, and their menu is well thought out. The owners and staff are always gracious, professional, and on the ball. It’s a real treat!

Our office got take out from here today and food was excellent. The drunken shrimp and spring rolls were particularly good. I had the crab cake and shrimp salad(daily special) and this was also very good and hit the spot(excellent crab cake and dressing).

Although I work ¼ mile away from here, I haven’t ever stopped in. Our boss took us for a holiday lunch today, and it was a very good experience. Our group had the steak sandwich, a bbq sandwich, the chopped salad and I had the shrimp and scallop special salad of the day. We also shared an appetizer of calamari, which was uniquely prepared with peppers. Everyone was very complimentary of their dish– and I have to say my salad was excellent! Service was very attentive and professional. The only less than glowing comment I have is that the restaurant is very loud– given its small size I can’t see how this could be avoided. Go for the great service and food but recognize you’re going to have to speak up to be heard :)

A little on the pricey side…$ 22 for salad but the food is good. Not a big restaurant but cozy and comfortable. Definitely a hidden gem. that shouldn’t be overlooked. If in the area try it out even if for one time only.

The food at this restaurant is AMAZING! The cost is on the high side but at the end the food has been worth the price so far. The only complaint I have is the soup serving for take out. I ordered the«bowl» of the Tortilla soup and was charged the«bowl» price but was given the cup size. I thought they had confused my order so I called and explained what happened & was told«for take out we only have one size container» but I was charged the«bowl» price??? Pretty disappointed in a sense I felt a little deceived, I feel like I should have been told when I placed my order over the phone. Being that all I ordered was a soup because I thought I was getting a «bowl» but I am always willing to give it another try lol just don’t get the fabulous Tortilla soup to go.

I wasn’t impressed. We went there for father’s day dinner as the location was convenient and it appeared nice. It was pretty disappointing. When we sat down we were brought stale bread, confirmed as such when they brought more that was just made. My husband and father got the steak special which was supposed to be 4oz of steak and bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp. Without apologizing they were brought«extra» steak and no shrimp. The extra was laughable and they switched their steaks upon serving which by the time we noticed it was too late. My sister and I got burgers which were overpriced and terrible. It seems that during the prep my burger fell apart and the cook just shoved the pieces back together and hid it under the bun so when I cut the burger in half it all fell apart in a burned mess. They charged $ 4 dollars extra for me to substitute the Brussel sprouts which were very clearly frozen and sitting in a pool of water. When I asked then to wrap my leftovers they dumped the sprouts and pool of water together with the burger soaking the bun and ruining it further. My sister had some sort of guacamole mess in her burger which also turned into a gross sloppy mess. My father asked the hostess to call him a cab, we tipped her and then she left leaving no information regarding which company or phone # she called. So an hour later when still no cab to be seen the waitress had to call her get the info and then call the company again. Not a huge deal but this is a small space and it was very clear how frustrated the waitress was and I got to watch as she slammed down the phone. So next comes desert one of which was comped as two of them were so disproportionate in size it was ridiculous. They were all piled with whipped cream and a mystery strawberry sauce for all. The ambience is nice though the blue pendant lights really lack creativity and the whole décor while new looking felt dated The waitstaff was nice though uninformed but it seems this places true issue is mismanagement. it was weird to be give the specials orally with the waitress also listing the prices. The food was certainly not worth the over 150 dollar bill + tips and if they want to continue should consider adding a new chef or more support staff for him.

A diamond in the rough! Surrounded by businesses that keep you moving on US43, Grille No. 43 makes you want to kick back and enjoy a nice meal. The dimly lit interior transports you from a tacky bustling corner to a comfortable and upscale dining environment. The interior is actually larger then it appears from the outside with a nicely laid out 70 seats including the bar. I had the HANGERSTEAK with mash potatoes and asparagus. 10oz of tender, flavorful, and perfectly prepared steak at $ 27. Most of of the entrées are in the 20s with bar food and appetizers in the teens. This place takes a beating on Unilocal for their prices but I thought they were reasonable. I have enjoyed similar steaks and meals well into the $ 30 range. This is refreshing place among fast food choices and more casually suited and family style venues. The service was prompt and friendly. Jimmy was a cool and very professional bartender. The drink selection was adequate but I found myself wanting to entertain more top shelf selections. Instead a enjoyed one of the premium beers. The wine, beer, and tap selection was plentiful for the restaurant size and menu. If you are in the area and looking for one of the best dining experience available, Grille No. 43 is an excellent choice!

It was a nice place to try and I enjoyed the staff’s hospitality; from the moment we walked into the restaurant everyone was very attentive. If you are looking for a quick way to eat because you got some other commitments afterwards, I highly recommend stopping by before 5PM. The place appears to get very busy after 5pm and parking seems to be a problem after such time. Before 5pm, parking is a breeze and the place doesn’t appear to be too busy. I thought it was a bit pricey but the food was great. Cynthia, our waitress, was great and attentive. Staff stopped by to check on how our meal tasted and how well it was cooked. I got the NY Steak and my wife got the bistro steak sandwich. Out of the two, I would recommend the bistro steak sandwich instead. Pair it with one of their wines(they have an extensive list of wines from around the world, which is great).

Came for my soon to be mother in laws birthday. The place is over priced for the ugly décor and quality of food. What really bothered me was when they gave my boyfriend the incorrect order by switching it with someone else’s in the group they didn’t take it to the back to make a new plate, they just wanted to switch it back but the other person had already ate about half of the steak. I had to tell the waiter we wanted a new plate. I ordered the 43 salad and it was okay. We live in Chicago and will not be coming back.

When in the Ohare airport area, this is a hidden gem. Not close enough to suffer the«national restaurant chain» The service was quite pleasant. Not too pushy. Not too persistent. Offered advice and reccos when asked. Even brought out a free desert since it was our first time at the restaurant. Local ingredients. Tasty, varied menu containing adventures for refined palates and home-cooking favorites for all types. Not too many booths so make a reservation.

This was the 4th or 5th time we’ve been to Grille 43 and once again we were very pleased with our experience. The restaurant was clean with great décor and the service was pleasant and just attentive enough. Always nice not having to ask to have water and soda refilled. Tonight I had the Puréed Potato and Leek soup and the Halibut/risotto special and it was excellent. My husband had the Chicken Parmesan and he was also happy with his choice. Grille 43 will continue to be one of our go to restaurants.

Came here for lunch with some coworkers. I ordered the Grille Chop, a coworker got the turkey wrap and another the salad with cranberries and apple. I really enjoyed my salad, but the ingredients weren’t ones I would moosh up together, i had them all as separate dishes on my plate. The chicken was soft, the guac not too spicy, the dressing complemented everything. My coworkers also really enjoyed their meals. They have complementary valet parking, which is awesome in this freezing winter weather we are having this year. The environment is casual, relaxing, with a touch of upscale. The service is very friendly, and our food came out very fast. For sure a go to place if you want a nicer lunch.
