Great food. Brisket hash and eggs were great and you have to have a cornmeal waffle.

Found this place while my daughter was signing into A school for the Navy. The atmosphere is inviting and the hostess and bartender made us feel right at home. Food was prepared to perfection from the Autumn salad to the brisket sandwich. Outstanding. Overall on a scale 1 – 10, I give it a 10.

This place is new and has a great upscale look and feel. The duck wings were tender and had a great buffalo sauce. Very friendly staff. I had the burger and fries. The burger was«light» and tasty. The fries were perfect especially with the home made ketchup.

Lunch was great. Brisket sandwich maybe my new most favorite! BBQ sauce perfect.(I like sauces that are not sweet this one has a nice hint of heat). Wife’s burger perfectly done but limited flavor. Little salt or seasoning recommended. Fries fresh and wonderful. Dinner menu looks interesting and well priced. Will definitely be back for another bite on another night. P. S. Yah the iced tea is a little watery. Nobody is perfect

I have been to the restaurant twice. The first time was probably in August 2015 for dinner. It was good then. We really liked it. My one star rating is for my visit for lunch yesterday. Unfortunately, it was not a good experience. 1. We arrived at 11:30 for lunch. There was only one other party there when we arrived. It took a long time to be seated which was odd. A staff member walked around and saw us standing but did not respond to us until we asked if the restaurant was open. We easily could have walked out and no one would have responded. 2. The squash soup sounded wonderful for a Fall lunch in October. I was told it wasn’t ready yet which was disappointing. Another party was seated and also asked for the soup. They were told it was not ready. Later my husband heard our waitress ask the cook when it would be ready. He curtly told her it would not take long, he just had not gotten around to making it yet. 3. My husband’s pork sandwich was ice cold. It warmed up to room temp by sitting uneaten on his plate. 4. My ice tea was extremely watery. It had not been brewed long enough. The coloration should have tipped the waitress off that it was not ready. 5. My husband and son’s fries were way too salty. It was a big miss. My husband adds salt to everything. Even he felt they were not worth eating. 6. My son’s hamburger was flavorless. It was neither good nor bad just bland. 7. My husband asked for the bill and we waited and waited. The waitress finally came back and asked if we had room for dessert. «No, I just want the check I asked for ages ago.» On the bright side: 1. My Fall salad with pear, goat cheese, arugula was very good. 2. The menu options sound delicious. 3. the restaurant design is absolutely gorgeous. Just beautiful. Overall, it was such a shame. We really liked our experience a couple months ago. It is sad to see such poor execution at a restaurant that has a great concept and décor. I work in the area and thought it would be great for future business lunches. That is not going to happen after what I saw yesterday. I hope the owner sees this and acts to fix execution. Don’t let your business fail.

Food was excellent and very flavorful. Lots of meat, seafood and vegetarian options all done in smaller portions perfect for sharing. Service a little slow but we came at peak time on Friday. We were well taken care of by Chris and the owner. We will be back. Our second time back and the menu changed a bit, which is good. More new things to try. Still lots of vegetarian(and meat options — venison shank, gumbo, alligator étouffée, and more). The kitchen was a bit behind but the owner Greg was kind enough to comp the late items without us asking. And ALL food was delicious. Great quality coffee and desserts too. Laura was a a delightful server.

Easy seating on a busy Friday night. Waiter was friendly but young & lacked manners. Duck wings over cooked but BBQ sauce kickin. Hubby had the Cornish hen which was just delicious; how do they get the honey flavor in the breading? Beef brisket sandwich simply fantastic; the meat & bun were very tender &BBQ sauce so flavorful. This chef knows his Texas BBQ! A tad pricy for sandwiches & drinks expensive. Sound factor can be a problem as walls are a mix of mirrors & ceramic tiles. Just about everything on the menu has some heat(peppers) in it; it was hard to find something that wasn’t spicy. On a high note, I heard Led Zeppelin playing in the background.

This is not the Lake Bluff of my childhood! Really solid food, not crazy prices for the quality, and great service. Oh, and open til 11! The décor is really cool too — if you didn’t say LB, someone would probably guess Bucktown or something like that. Net net — a great addition to downtown Lake Bluff and proof positive that Lake Forest could learn a thing or two from its smaller cousin: LF can have all the banks it wants, but those banks can’t feed people, especially after 9pm.

Loved the location in downtown Lake Bluff. Ate outside and had the best waitress(Madison). She attended to our every need exactly when we needed it. Just had a burger but was the best burger I have had in a long time. Thanks to waitresses like Madison that make dining a pleasure!!!

What’s the deal with the hostess, who is busy answering the phones, seating people, taking reservations and all of the full on hostess/front of the house duties, even attempting to be the server for all of the bar tables? I have a management question! Does this provide for a complete and thorough dining experience at Maevery? Does your hostess have the ability to juggle her primary duties while offering your patrons a positive dining experience? My answer is absolutely not! After sitting at the bar table for too long as we watched her answer the phone and seat people on Monday night, we had to walk out. We never had the opportunity to get our order in — she was too busy. She was so distracted that as we were leaving, all she could say was, «goodbye»! There was no attempt to inquire as to why we were leaving without ordering or offering to assist us in any way. Please, have enough servers for the tables that you wish to serve! I’m very curious to see a response from the management team or owners.

Our waitress really lacked basic knowledge of their food menu, so it was difficult to order. She was not able to answer questions about any of the cocktails. It seems like a very nice place to go and get straight forward food, but I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to get any recommendations or information from our waitress. The food was ok, nothing really stuck out. The whiskey sour was made poorly and the egg white was not shaken enough so it was just floating on top of the drink.

For small town, Lake Bluff this locale is cute and has a great city-like ambience. Servers are attentive and detailed without being over bearing. Great wine and cocktail list and food is delicious. Two things I would note is, if they fried the pickles if would make pickles as an app amazing. With a sauce to dip them in, that would make it a for sure starter and 2. The coffee is great but would adjust the size of the mug. Minor detail for sure but just something to note as the mug is pretty big. I would not not get the coffee next time I go but more of product that may be wasted. Definitely will go back and experience other great menu items. So happy a cool and delicious restaurant on the north shore!

We’ve lived in Lake Bluff for two years now and we love everything about it. It’s a great downtown, and is so much fun in the summer! We hadn’t tried Maevery, so one of the first nice days this Spring, we decided to check it out. It’s nice that they have the outdoor seating on the sidewalk, so when Quinn doesn’t want to sit at the table anymore, we can let her walk around and look at all the people and kids. The food was good, we got burgers and fries and the wine was delicious! They have a nice selection of craft beers, but Mike and I think they would do a great business if they had some kind of happy hour specials. Especially during the week. The service was great and the inside of the restaurant is UNBELIEVABLE. When you live in the burbs its so refreshing to see a place that you would typically find in the city. And that’s exactly what Maevery is. A little piece of city life brought to our favorite little suburban town :)

I was super impressed with my experience here. Not only was the ambiance as nice as I expected, but the food was very good too. The candied«chefs nuts» were an unexpected great start. My fried Cornish hen was phenomenal. Great flavors and great glaze. The others I was with enjoyed theirs as well highlighted by the shrimp and grits. Great spot.

Let me start off by saying something positive: the interior design of this place is amazing! I mean, the owners must have spent $$$$$ on the furniture alone! I’ve never seen so many freakin Eames chairs in one restaurant before! Whoa! I just hope the wild LBers don’t trash it too soon! Ok, so I went nuts for the décor but the food… oh my, the food… what happened, my dears? I mean, you have a great thing going in terms of ambiance but the food just wasn’t good. Trying way to hard to be original whereas if you just stuck with the«simple but delish» motif, we would have had a nice relationship from the get go! Here’s what happened: beautiful day, walked in for lunch on Saturday. Awesome ambience, as noted. But no customers but us? Strange. Ok, maybe it’s just a dinner place, but lunch must be good, right? Back to the food: I ordered an omelette with smoked ham — very fatty ham with the skin on and eggs were rubbery. Super salty. Grilled cheeses were super flat and dry, fries were charred. Pickles were a unique option for a snack, so thumbs up on the pickles! Service was good but it almost felt like we were intruders(did we sneak in by accident and you guys really are only open for dinner?). We saw some other passer bys peek in, but no one was at reception, so they left. Maybe the staff and kitchen were up too late on a Friday night and it was an «off» day overall, I just don’t know! Hope others have a better experience than we did. .

This is a great spot to have in the area. Fun hip environment with many little seating nooks. It was fun to sample the various veggie sides they offer but their timing was WAY off when they brought all the courses out within minutes of each other to our small 2-top table. Thankfully after telling them we did not want to be rushed as we had just started on our large portioned salads, they took the dishes back and fixed the pacing from then on. The food was very good and freshly prepared. I was excited to try their fried green tomatoes but this was the one dish that really fell flat. Staff was nice and at attentive and able to make knowledgable recommendations when asked. Defiantly will be added into the rotation of local spots to frequent. NOTE: They have a very cool private 8 personish table behind the bar perfect for a small group dinner.

What a great addition to the north shore! It’s been a while since we’ve been to this area but thanks to Unilocal notifying me of new spots, we decided to give this place a try to kick off our spring break staycation. Well friends, I’m glad to report that it did not disappoint! From the moment I called to make a reservation, I was impressed with the friendly service that carried on through our entire visit. The space was absolutely gorgeous, clean and simple with the beautiful lighting taking center stage. The cocktail list had a nice selection of innovative twists to classics such as the rum old fashion though I’m loyal to my bourbon so I ordered something called the Maevery Elixir. Food portion tends to be on the small side(or just the right size if you’re not a pig like me). Our app selection consisted of deviled eggs and hush puppies(this in itself won me over). For entrees, we had the lavender salmon with Chinese black rice, duck with a bourbon honey glaze and honest to goodness okra, and the sea bass with creole sauce. And because we’re pigs— oh yeah, we established that already, we made room for dessert: cookies and cream and bread pudding. Our server told us they also serve brunch on weekends. As for me, I am nervous about this place being discovered as I know this was the first of many more visits to come!

Quick stop in for a quick solo dinner. S Pleasantly surprised. Highlights: great décor, fantastic service, calm environment. Observed bar service which was good with pleasant conversations going on. Two TVs– one had NCAA game otger had golf– sat in the bar«area”– this is a place to go eat– not to watch the game. Not that type of «pub.» Food: brisket sandwhich and fries. Hearty sandwhich on great French bread. Sauce was good without being overwhelming. Sliced pickles(homemade?) were delicious and not overpowering. The fries were standout with coarse salting, super hot, and served with a chilled catsup, the fries would be worth going back for. 5-star preventers: too much ice in a scotch pour.(Balvenie) and they had issues with the credit card scanner. Feel like I need to check my account tomorrow for a double charge? The apologized for the credit card issue, but reading reviews suggest something needs attention. Heard several conversations about the food(other items) being spectacular, especially the salmon dish. They have 2 wines«on tap” — that will be on the next trip.

Went on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. Great bar service and food. Had the duck wings with buffalo sauce and the brisket sandwich. Both were flavorful. The dill ranch was great with wings and the brisket had a nice spicy bbq sauce on it. Split 6 plates between 3 people and was plenty full. Highly recommend this place.

Outstanding food! Was dinner for 4, we all ordered something different and shared with each other. I can definitely say everything I tried was great. Top resturant on the North Shore at a great price. Will definitely go back.
