First time at Nosh tonight and it was fantastic! Started with the cheese and meat plate and exotic roasted mushrooms. Both were excellent. Also got the calamari, but that seemed a bit under seasoned but still tasty. My husband and I both got the seafood paella… perfect flavor and all seafood was cooked perfectly! Our 9 year old got the grilled hanger steak-med rare(yes he’s only 9). He loved it and I tried a bite and melted in my mouth. He also ordered the chocolate soufflé for dessert and we all shared… another hit! Server and other table staff were very attentive and nice. We live 4 hours away and sadly won’t get back here until next Summer… but we are already looking forward to it!

We ordered the mushrooms, scallops, and chocolate cake. Everything was really good. The service was a bit off. Nobody had a smile on their face. Nobody welcomed us. Everyone just kind of existed, and did the bare minimum. For the price, I feel they need to step up their game. The food was good enough to give them another shot.

I am torn on this review, the food was extremely wonderful, however the service disappointed me. Our server failed to mention the specials I overhead them from the table next to me after I already ordered. Received our meal as mentioned previously it was wonderful, our server took our bread tin and asked if we wanted more bread, I said yes. The bread arrived with the same empty butter ramekin that she took it with, apparently we can have more bread but not more butter. All in all I would totally recommend this place but hope you don’t get my server… sorry hallie a.

Great food/service and a fantastic view especially from their outdoor deck. The menu is inventive and beautifully prepared. The bar also had a nice selection of craft beers. Great place for a nice dinner!

Nosh is a nice restaurant with a beautiful view of the Mississippi River. My husband and I have been here twice with my in-laws and they never disappoint. The ambience can be romantic if you are looking for a date night or a quaint get together with family or friends. As a fellow Vegan, they were able to accommodate my dietary needs. They made a custom order of vegetable paella. It had all the right flavors and none that overpowered. If you are ever in Lake City, it’s a must!

Stumbled upon Nosh on a wintery Saturday night. My companion and I didn’t have reservations, but at 8 pm we were seated immediately at what looked like the only empty table. We ordered glasses of wine from a decent list(the beer list was impressive but we didn’t test it). The chef sent out a complimentary amuse bouche of an olive, feta and walnut tapenade on a cucumber slice. A very nice start. We shared housemade chicken liver pâté; a tasty starter with a nice presentation that could have used a bit more seasoning. My paella was artfully arranged in an iron skillet and delicious. My friend’s braised pork shank with sweet potato gnocchi was smoky and tender. If my paella hadn’t been so tasty, I would have had entrée envy. We had to try dessert. My friend chose mango sorbet. I had the Mexican chocolate pots de crème. I was expecting a demitasse cup sized dessert but came face to face with something about four times that size. It had the perfect spicy warmth under the rich chocolate. Sadly, I couldn’t finish it. The service was good, though just a bit inattentive at times but not enough to take away a star. The room was casually elegant and neutral, undoubtedly to not distract from the stunning view of the harbor. I’m looking forward to my next visit already.

We’ve been trying to go to Nosh for quite some time. Every time we go, we’ve picked a day when they’re closed. But today we took our usual road trip from Minneapolis, en route toward Lake Pepin, which takes us through some very quaint, but small towns like Maiden Rock, Stockholm and Lake Pepin. There were droves of people waiting for the Harborview Café to open at 5pm, so we hit the road toward Nelson and saw the other side of Lake Pepin, on our way to Lake City. We were anticipating another harbor and hopefully a great restaurant. We saw the familiar harbor in Lake City, with Nosh nudging at its side. Fortunately we got the last table on the second floor, which had a great view of the harbor. We started by sharing a large Belgian beer, followed by a warm beet salad with arugula and candied walnuts. We ordered a good, dirty red until the delicious steamed mussels in a tomato broth arrived with just the right amount of chili heat. We both ordered the Thai red snapper. I thought it would be the typical filet with a side of vegetables, but instead it was a fragrant stew with bok choy and a perfectly spiced broth. Given the fact that it was a sunny, but cool 40 degree day, the hot stew was very comforting. As with most restaurants, I’m usually hesitant to order dessert, but I thought that if everything was so great up to this point, the dessert would also be fabulous. Not so. I ordered the chocolate mousse with chipotle chiles. It was good, but not anything to write home about. My partner had the chocolate torte with raspberry sauce which was just so-so. The service was excellent. Everyone involved made an extra effort to make our experience memorable. I hope to return to Nosh when I can enjoy the sunny patio in humid, 90 degree heat, while watching the boats come in to the harbor. I know the food will also be good.

225.00 later for 4 people and what we got was a bunch of wrong orders, spicy food that we couldn’t eat, a Cosmo that was brown and an apologetic 20.00 off gift certificate for our next visit. Not happening. Take your mistakes off the bill. Hey… A nice view of the lake :). I could have had that sitting on my boat eating chicken salad. Not impressed with over priced and under serviced places.

At Nosh now. Sitting in an overly air conditioned dining room(probably 67 degrees) with family. The waitress said hello then disappeared for over 15 minutes. I asked another waiter to find her. Five minutes later she arrived — no apology or acknowledgement. Grill is apparently broken so we can’t order those items. The room we are in is only ¼ full, so very not busy in case that would have been an excuse for the excruciatingly slow service. Food was reasonably tasty, and small portioned. Exotic mushroom dish was hearty. Bread was fresh. Still waiting for main course — going on 25 minutes now. Like many things, the journey(service) can make the final destination(food) seem unspectacular. In this case the food is not salvaging the miserable lack of attention to the experience. Nosh is a one visit restaurant in my view.

Drove over an hour to dine at Nosh and do not regret the decision at all. Fantastic food and service. Everything we ate was delicious. For starters, I had the homemade sausage crostini while my husband went for the tomato soup. I am typically not a fan of tomato soup, but my(many) spoonfuls of his were quite yummy. Very, very flavorful! We then split the P.E.I. mussels, which were also very good, with different flavors than we’re used to having with mussels(this dish was spicier given the chorizo in the sauce). Oh wait — before I go on — must mention the DELICIOUS bread. I am a person who judges a restaurant by its bread. Who cares if it’s baked at the bakery next door(which look adorable, by the way)? It was scrumptious. Ok moving on… for the main courses he had lamb chops; I had steak. Both were great. No dessert for us, as we were stuffed, but I’m sure that would’ve been wonderful as well! To summarize: delicious food(that’s pretty reasonably priced given the quality), good service, awesome wine and beer list(Stella Cidre on TAP!!!) — only wish it wasn’t so far off the beaten path! Oh and we arrived with reservations on a Sunday evening and the place was basically full, so I’d recommend calling ahead especially if you’re wanting to dine on Friday or Saturday.

Have been coming to Nosh for about 4 – 5 years? In its early days — service was a bit spotty and menu was a tad salty — but we dined here this past Saturday night and Nosh was running full force on all eight cylinders — full steam ahead! Service was excellent. polite and professional — just as expected. Food was equally enjoyable. Wine list is nice. We started with the stuffed date small plate — a yummy start — plus the grilled calamari. The grilled calamari was delicious — tender, juicy great flavor profile. I used the basket of Rabbit Bakery bread to sop up the calamari sauce — I hope I was not too uncouth! The seafood paella served in iron skillet is our«go to» dish and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed the Entrée Special — the«Porterhouse Lamb» on quinoa with patti-pan sqash and it was perfectly cooked medium-rare — and I was sucking the bones dry(i.e. uncouth again?). We finished with the flour-less chocolate cake with berry coulis — was delicious dragging that forkfull of cake through the puddle of berry coulis — was heaven. We will be back again, Also — we enjoyed the deck patio overlooking Lake Pepin — and even with the little drizzling rain — we were well enclosed.

I was at this restaurant on Saturday, August 10, 2013 and sat outside on Nosh’s second floor patio, reveling in the view of a glistening Lake Pepin. We could not have asked for a better experience: fantastic food that showcased a hint of creativity and a good blending of flavors, excellent service, and a gorgeous evening. Without question, this is a gem of southeastern MN. The following were creative, flavorful and excellent: –Exotic mushrooms –Beet salad –Paella I am sure you will love it too.

Nosh is gem on the route through Lake City, MN. Last night, I had a beet soup that is one of the best beet dishes I have ever eaten(and, yes, I have eaten quite a few beets). We also had the tuna tar tar which was served on micro greens and wild rice. It was a little bit nutty and cooked to perfection. The morel mushroom small plate alone is worth a trip. Additionally, their McManis Petite Sirah is very fairly priced at $ 29.00 per bottle. By far one of my favorite restaurants ANYWHERE! If you ever have a chance, stop in for superior food, wine and service.

I did a 10-mile trail run and wanted to compliment my health kick with a meal created by a Chef, so I went to Nosh. Because I was dressed for yoga more than fine dining, I took my order-to-go and ordered the beet soup at the bar while I waited. The beet soup was delectable for sure, but why wouldn’t it be when 90% of it was butter and cream that would clog one carotid. Anything with butter and cream tastes good; does it take skill to do that? I was hoping to have a more vegetable-laden soup with chunks of beets. In this soup the beet was really only used for food coloring. I ordered the salmon but they were out so I went with their signature dish: the paella. Too much olive oil in the rice and it wasn’t spicy enough. OMG, the best part though was the sausage; it was browned just right making the outside slightly crispy and not soggy in the middle and the flavor made my eyes close as I spent 5 minutes chewing and savoring the sausage alone. Would I go there again? Yes, but I would try different menu choices and after I go to other notable places in the area as recommended by a previous Unilocaler: Norton’s in Red Wing, The Harbor View in Pepin. PS: They’re take-out boxes are hard cardboard versus styrofoam! Thumbs up on that one Nosh.

(3.5 Stars) I normally give a restaurant that has decent food 4 stars, but when I eat at a restaurant that is known for it’s fine food I am a bit more discriminating in my review. Food gets 3 stars, the extra ½ star is for the affordable and fabulous wine and beer list. Hubby, daughter and I were out for a leisurely Sunday drive around Lake Pepin making stops at a few wineries and an apple orchard. We hoped to stop in Wabasha for a bite, but couldn’t find anywhere to eat that looked worth the stop. I have heard of Nosh for years and always wanted to stop. We came in around 5:30 on Sunday night. We had the dining room we were seated in all to ourselves for the majority of our meal. We started with a bottle of red wine, an Italian blend called«The Face». It was the highlight of our stop. Then we ordered a couple of small plates. The chef sent out an amuse that was good, and our small plates were our second favorite item after the wine. The bread basket did not disappoint. One of the choices was from the bakery next store«The Rabbit». We had wanted to stop there but they were already closed so we were glad that Nosh was serving an item from there. Hubby had the hangar steak, daughter had the chicken salad, and I had the salmon. I hate salmon that tastes fishy. This salmon tasted fishy. I only ate half and didn’t take the rest home. The rice underneath the salmon was OK. Hubby liked his steak. To me it looked like beef stroganoff without the noodles and had a beefy sauce that didn’t taste as hearty as it looked. Daughter ate most of the salad, nothing special about the chicken. The chicken looked and tasted like what we make on the grill at home. So, for a fine food restaurant the entrees left something to be desired, the small plates were good and the wine was fabulous. We probably won’t stop back here again. It’s a bit overpriced for what is delivered.

Fantastic restaurant and a gem of the southeastern MN area. My husband and I went there for our anniversary and could not have asked for a better experience: fantastic food that showcased a hint of creativity and a good blending of flavors, excellent service, and a gorgeous evening, in which we were able to sit outside on Nosh’s second floor patio, reveling in the view of a glistening Lake Pepin. Our favorites from our meal included: –Blue cheese stuffed dates poached in honey and crusted in pistachios –Pan Seared Salmon with a summer ratatouille, local goat cheese, micro greens and olive oil. –Blueberry Agua Fresca(which was compliments of the chef) –Focaccia from Rabbit’s Bakery in Lake City Highlight recommend Nosh, especially on a night you are able to sit outside.

It began with a musty, dank basement smell when you enteer the restaurant and ended with a very disappointing food experience. I ordered the chicken salad made with locally grown romaine(not) that was brown. The grilled chicken breast on tiop was inedible. According to the chef he didn’t know what could have happened to it. He re did a new breast which was so overcooked it was like shoe leather. There was no offer to remove the charge for the entrée from our check, hence this negative review. If they had made any effort to make amends, I might have skipped the comment. Back to the smell. I think there might be a leak from the upstairs toilet? The rest of the staff did a nice job.

Had the opportunity to visit Nosh last evening. We made the trip from Minneapolis to see what all the fuss was about. The menu was well balanced. 5 or 6 small plates, several appetizers, and salads as well as entrees. I had the sautéed calamari and the shrimp scampi(I usually avoid seafood so far from the sea but my date insisted). Both were served hot and were very tasty. The sauce on the calamari was excellent. The beef medallions were out of this world. Absolutely superb. Medium rare and melting in my mouth. Sauces to write home about. We made the mistake of ordering coffee to finish off the meal. I expected the quality of coffee to match the wonderful meal we had. The coffee was about what you would expect from Perkins. It wasn’t decent coffee to begin with but I would have appreciated the server brewing a fresh pot. A great experience tainted.
