Everyone is very friendly here! We even got food served straight to our lane. I’m thrilled to know a good bowling place to come back to that is close by. The food is fantastic too! I’m a pizza lover and was pleasantly surprised how good their pizza is. You don’t expect that at a bowling place but what a treat! More reason to come back!

Great place to bowl. Bar service is horrible. It takes the bar tender 30 minutes to serve you. If you request to speak with the manager/supervisor, the bartender tells you, «you are no longer allowed to order for the night.» My company has it bowling league there. But, I will be requesting we moving to Saddleback lanes after tonight’s services.

Had a great time here with the family. My niece got to bowl for the first time! Food was so so but the beer was great. Friendly and helpful staff here as well

Pretty standard bowling alley! House balls are chipped. Girls beware when you don’t expect to go bowling and you aren’t wearing socks. $ 4 for an ugly pair of socks! Otherwise decent prices for games.

Great staff! We planned a birthday party for our 14yo, and everyone here was great. The music videos were a great mix. Pizza was okay — expected at s bowling alley. We had a great time.

Probably best to bowl in the morning when there might be wax on the lanes. By the time we were bowling after work, the 2 lanes we were assigned were very inconsistent. Doesn’t help to use the house balls which are probably as old as the building itself with multiple cracks and chips in each. That being said… its actually really fun here. Time your arrival right and you’ll be bowling without waiting. Friend’s rental shoes were kept in nice shape and the scoring system is easy to navigate. Food was… eh. Thank goodness you’re surrounded by the best greasy spoons that South County has to offer. Eat before you arrive here and just buy your beers to drink while you sling that ball down the lane. Good times…

Not bad for bowling but the blonde bartender is completely clueless not to mention rude to guests if i was the owner i would fire her. What kind of bartender curses at her guests and treats them like the trash that litters this poor excuse for a bar.

We have hosted several special needs events at this bowling alley. The staff has been great to work with and they are always very reasonable with us. I give them two thumbs up for supporting the special needs community.

Love the place… I started coming here with my son on Saturday Jr Bowling. While waiting for him to finished his bowling, I started bowling and made the mistake of going into the Pro Shop and got hoked. The Pro Shop was a big help in getting me started with equipment that included fitting and drilling. The staff for the Pro Shop are always friendly and helpful with all the questions I would ask in the beginning. Splits Bar is right there to provide drinks. Love the bartender, Jena ! She has never disappointed me with all the new and different drinks I keep asking for… And while bowling, the staff is right there to provide any assistance if something goes wrong ! Great Staff !

Super fun. Came here after 10pm. Always have good deals or specials for bowling. Getting a beer was a pain in the butt tho. My friend stood at the bar(which was almost empty) and after 20 minutes I told them I was over getting drinks. Just to get a beer it took forever. There was 1 bartender. weird. Ill give this place another try because the bowling itself was fun.

Bowling is not something I plan. It’s nice to know that Forest Lanes always has a lane open. The staff are always friendly and never rush you. They’re never in a rush either, it’s pretty laid back. I am not a fan of swapping a shoe for the bowling shoes. If anything, take both of my shoes.

This place is not your typical plain old alley. This place has flair! Go late at night for cosmic bowling :) It’s a night to remember with the smoke machines, black lights, and music videos!!! My friends and I had a superb time. The place is very tidy. Connected to the alley is Splits bar, with karaōke, pool, and a nice dining area. Anticipate spending some cash depending on when you go. I do have to say the best service was from the cook! I wanted a BBQ burger and it wasn’t even a menu item. The cook made it for me anyway and he made it perfectly and even added a few things that completely took me by surprise. Amazing job! I’ll be back to get his name and update my review. He went above and beyond! The bartender was a little swamped and took her time which got me antsy but was very accurate with her drinks so I can’t complain. Someone should have been there to back her up. I had a very tasty Cactus Cooler and a custom Hurricane — spin off of a long island — and she nailed it! If that’s not enough, they have beer pong tournaments at Splits and I think a $ 50 grand prize for the winner ;) That is separate from the alley so yes, you can bring your kids. ~ Have fun ~

After keeping up with bowling, I decided for Christmas that I wanted my own ball and shoes. The guys at the pro shop inside took fabulous care of me! Got a fabulous pink and purple ball that fits me perfectly, with my name engraved for free! Much better than the house balls.

Very nice bowling alley. I’ve started coming here with my kids and my son just loves it. Not hard to get a lane. The staff is very friendly except for the concession stand where they area a little slow and not too customer oriented. They always have fun events going on and good music videos on the big screens in front of lanes 1 through 20 or so. Best of all they have a good pro shop with equipment and they do fitting and drilling. Had a ball done for my boy and the man that runs it was extremely friendly, patient and helpful. I’d recommend it over Irvine Lanes or Tustin Lanes.

I didn’t bowl here… I walked in and walked out. It was close to midnight and this place was sketchy as can be. Not to mention the hordes of young children running around. I’m pretty sure they should have been in bed by the time I arrived, but that might just be the mom in me?

I’m not sure what the sub-4-star reviewers are expecting to get from this place? As far as pure-bowl alleys go, there’s not much innovation out there. Even the more tech savvy lanes like Costa Mesa 55 have major technical issues with racking and score accuracy… but nobody seems to notice I guess, and they cost WAY more. I’ve been a league bowler for years, so maybe it’s just more apparent to me with all the frames I’m rippin’ My favorite lanes in California are Fountain Bowl, Mira Mesa Bowl, this place, and Homestead Lanes next to my high school in Cupertino(HOMESTEAD!!!). Why? They all have the same basic ingredients that make up a good ol’ American bowling alley: 1. Bar with karaōke and pool table… emphasis on the karaōke. 2. Decent beer selection(a must). 3. Good food(inside or via truck). 4. Cosmic bowling and music. 5. Awesome prices with daily deals. Also bowled here on New Years and logged 2 turkeys in 3 games… so it’s my lucky spot :)

We popped in just to take a look and spent an hour bowling! We don’t bowl very often(and usually only do it when we’re on vacation), but it looked like so much fun we just had to do it. When we walked in, they cosmic bowling going on. It was late afternoon and they weren’t very busy, but they had a kids birthday party going on. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice — had a great sense of humor. I don’t think we’ve ever had so much fun bowling! I’m not very good at it but somehow managed to score lots of gutter balls, two spares and a strike. I know, right? Perhaps I will improve with more practice. Hey, I broke 100! =) We had such a blast! Once you’ve gone cosmic, you can’t go back!

Forest Lanes is a no frills, clean, tidy bowling facility with the usual bar area and snack foods area. Fixtures are kind of dated but functional. The prices to play are reasonable and the rental shoes appear clean and newish. Their scoring system is updated and we didn’t run into any problems while playing. We went on a Sunday afternoon when the place was only mostly full. The bar was nice and big but almost empty(two people playing pool). The snack bar was affordable with the typical heart-attack inducing type bar food.(We got chili-cheese fries — chili is canned, tasted like it’s seen better days but the fries were nice and hot.) The guys working the counter were pretty friendly and obliged us when we asked to switch lanes. It sounds like they may have the rock and bowl shenanigans some evenings. Maybe we’ll catch it one day.

Never had to pay that much money for bowling. Group of us like to bowl so I’ve been to numerous bowling places where we bowl for two games and with shoe rental was never more than $ 10 It was six of us decided to come here after our dinner asked for a lane and next think I noticed was each of us paying $ 17 to bowl two games. Which I thought it was expensive. The lanes were not slippery like the other bowling alley, our lanes kept on messing up, so we had to reset our lane literally every frame. We usually do pitcher or two while we bowl so sent three of us to the bar and they grabbed a pitcher for us to share. Usual places will ask at least three ID so thats why three of us went but they only gave cups to the three of them. I do understand that they like to check ID to make sure if you are old enough to drink but never had to take my ID for extra cup. That was very inconvenient for me. They were lacking balls as well. I bowl well with 11 pound ball but I couldn’t find a single ball at that pound.

I really don’t bowl often enough. I used to love it as a kid, but as an adult I find trips to the alley are so infrequent it’s like a new experience all over again when the time is found. And that should change, because it’s a damn fun night and great exercise, too. I’d been here once before, but it was a few years ago. Looks like they’ve put in some fancy digital scorekeepers since my last visit. As much as I’m all about maintaining the vintage aesthetic most bowling alleys enjoy, a minor upgrade like this makes a lot of sense. In nearly every other aspect, this still feels like a bit of a relic, which I consider a good thing. My gf & I didn’t come here for anything fancy, just an hour of chucking balls down the lane, trying to kill the pins. Funny thing is, we wound up having so much fun that an hour just whizzed right on by like it never even happened. So, we went to the bar, ordered up another pitcher and added an hour to our lane time. Now, the pitchers here are small. What you know a pitcher to be comes out looking like someone shrunk it to ½ the size. Why? Hell if I know, but it doesn’t look very standard to me. Beer prices are good enough that I’m not exactly complaining, though it is peculiar. They have«quarter night» and«cosmic bowling» here on certain days. I’ve heard the quarter night isn’t all that good of a deal, but it sounds old-school and fun, two things I’m all about. Cosmic bowling sounds like a fantastic trip I’d like to take sometime. Hopefully that time is soon because bowling is a nostalgic night of fun every time, and feelings like that are what I chase as an adult.
